Wow, this vid hit home.. My mom passed away in August of this year while visiting family in the city I was born in and you are right about this: Going to your old stomping grounds and back to the reason WHY you started, is Major Key is you feel like you lost your passion for this.. I found myself drawing inspiration from the smallest things while back home.. Man, can't thank you enough for this one bro! You spoke right to me and many others I'm sure.. Thank you @curtisskingTV
This truly hit home. I've been making beats since 2002. For about five years (2012 - 2017) after a serious health issue, I became frustrated and basically gave it up. I truly became depressed when I wasn't selling and the beats I loved didn't fit the market anymore. I'm now getting back to it, but I needed this truthfully. I'm now learning to blend what I love and what fits the market. I'm even trying to get into film and TV music. I know I'll be getting a few consultations from you soon when I build up the resources. Thanks once again.
Listening to your favorite producer artist song basically that when you listen to suddenly you begin to pay attention to every single little detail in the song, music that inspires you... watching producer cook-ups tutorials always help too listenin to Curtis king ;)
5 years later and this gem is helping me out been struggling lately. Picked this skill up in lock down but for the last year or so I have been loosing motivation for it . I wanna bounce back 🌊💫
I usually don’t comment on ANY TH-cam video but this one was well said. This video along with a few other things has given me the motivation to start back with my productions. I need to refocus my energy. You have gained a subscriber and a loyal watcher!
It's crazy to think you were once a quiet kid lol the energy you give off is fun. Your tips are great!! Revisiting old music can help spark the interest again. I hope no one actually ate pizza and orange juice like that 😂
He said MTV Generator!!! Haha, that was the first thing I started making beats on. Purchased it from Blockbuster thinking it was some weird music themed game, only to find out it was a sequencer and started developing my passion for producing. I too have found myself losing my passion before. What I do to overcome this is to revisit my old beats/unfinished tracks and remake them or I go digging in the crates. Sometimes I even try to listen to music outside of the genres that I'm familiar with.. But, 1 of the best things you said was, to remember your "WHY". Great video once again Curtiss! Keep adding value. Bless.
I made music, stopped, then realized how much fun it was working with other artists & dropping stuff for fun & laughs. Went back to it but didn’t feel it like before, but after seeing this video I just want to sit in that chair & get back to it, I feel it again.
"Anytime you have a problem with passion you have a problem with your why..."....sounds obvious but super important to hear. Also, the diet advice was really well-said and a lot of cats might not have been seeing that angle 🙏🏾 Thanks bro!
I’m at that point right now. Only because I cannot get my acai mok249 to work on my MacBook. I’ve watched so many videos and they all show different ways of how to “set it up”. I can scroll through the menus, preset it to logic, etc. but cannot get to show up or use it in logic.
Motivated! Side bar, when I first saw that picture back there I thought that was a custom painting of Sade. Until I saw yo girl sitting next to you 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️😂🤣🤣
I wanna "start" this Curtispiration: "Beats for business". What are some tips to start doing those. How to start pre-planning for beats like that. I make a lot of "passion beats" but my sales have suffered truthfully. Someone even called my sound "old". I'm tough-skinned, though...
I can’t get the groove back… since a divorce and Covid lock down touring stalled, started more work from a remote studio, I keep buying new gear hoping for inspiration from a new toy but now I just got more things to remind me that I’m in a shit place, the muse is hiding in the studio somewhere I’m running 3 DAWs, new Mac machines, outboard gear, high end mics and pres, wall of guitars and basses, new $6000 electronic drum kit, every midi controller there is So I try to at least play an hour of guitar and piano a day hit them drums a few time a week But I haven’t written a song (anything decent) in almost 4 years I still listen to my old catalog and sell something now and then, but nothing new The highlight these days are just updating all my plugs, vsts, firmware ect…and changing room treatments, lighting and calling it a day… Dead in the water,, watching war and sickness on the tube, big corps price gouging! No love just greed Not feeling it anymore
Question for Producers, what was that initial spark that gave you passion to begin your musical journey? for me as corny as it sounds it was the 2007 movie "August Rush" terrible mpovie overall but i can revist that film anytime and am instantly charged with the same inspiration I felt when first watching.
Yo, if that MTV music generator wasn’t me back in days 😂 . I had that and some cheap Yamaha psr keyboard , and thought I was doing it big . It’s wild all this tech, tools and distribution outlets available these days . My younger self couldn’t have imagined.
Oh and when i loose my passion i dont force myself and give my self a rest. This happens to me often. When im motivated im super motivated when im down, i am shit
bro, you know what? that's fact. whenever i force my self, i complete something successed. but most of time i don't want to force my self it's probably because of laziness
Lars Spargur i have tons of unfinished projects.some of them has dope melodies some got nice bass Line etc etc. But i just leave it like that and never continue. When i try to continue it fucks up my morale as you say i feel like i ruin it. All my finished projects made in ONE time.i dont close it until it finish
can you do me a favor on your free time an let me email you my first song so you can tell me what you think on the mix an the song if you got time I understand you are busy stay blessed
I wake up, get my coffee and watch Pastor Curtiss every morning.
lol
Music with Edgar no disrespect but fuck you
^^^ lol
This video came at the perfect timing

Holy Shhh, he said MTV Music Generator. That's how I started in 2000 lmao. Changed my damn life
How do you recommend remembering the why aspect of making music? Do you reflect on it daily etc etc?
I can’t get the groove back… since a divorce and Covid lock down touring stalled, started more work from a remote studio, I keep buying new gear hoping for inspiration from a new toy but now I just got more things to remind me that I’m in a shit place, the muse is hiding in the studio somewhere
I’m running 3 DAWs, new Mac machines, outboard gear, high end mics and pres, wall of guitars and basses, new $6000 electronic drum kit, every midi controller there is
So I try to at least play an hour of guitar and piano a day hit them drums a few time a week
But I haven’t written a song (anything decent) in almost 4 years
I still listen to my old catalog and sell something now and then, but nothing new
The highlight these days are just updating all my plugs, vsts, firmware ect…and changing
room treatments, lighting and calling it a day…
Dead in the water,, watching war and sickness on the tube, big corps price gouging! No love just greed
Not feeling it anymore
The "itis" is caused by blood sugar level spikes when eating carb heavy meals.

Question for Producers, what was that initial spark that gave you passion to begin your musical journey? for me as corny as it sounds it was the 2007 movie "August Rush" terrible mpovie overall but i can revist that film anytime and am instantly charged with the same inspiration I felt when first watching.

Lars Spargur Same here. Maybe we should just let it flow
Lars Spargur i have tons of unfinished projects.some of them has dope melodies some got nice bass Line etc etc. But i just leave it like that and never continue.
