- We're ice fishing with Humminbird Mega Live! There has been lots of talk about this new live imaging technology from Humminbird and it's finally here. In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Great video. Some day I'll be able to get one. Last year a couple guys were just checking their unit out on the ice and they let me watch. The guy with the unit was directing his buddy who had the auger over a school of suspended crappies. Each time he drilled a hole over the crappies they would immediately move away from where he was drilling. Cool to watch the crappies reaction to the auger.
While I am a fan of hummingbird loved my helex 7 but after getting the garmin echomap and live scope I see no reason to switch, this is not an upgrade from my lv32

Love your content and presentation style. Have you tried any of the live views in 60-110’ of water? That is the depth we jig lakers in the summer and was wondering how live view would work. We use the 2d sonar right now. Thanks and looking forward to your new ice season season vids
Jay like your fishing gear reviews, here is one personally I am interested in before making a purchase is how well do the ice fishing jackets and bibs really float? If you are up to a cold water dip to test these it would be interesting to see the results. 🥶

I have the same issue with my mega 360 of it saying out of water when going back into a hole when hole hopping, I found that ice builds up on the 2 small metal sensors on the transducer so you just have to put your finger on them to melt the ice and good to go. Appears that transducer has the same sensors

Ok unit, but looks like Garmin has it beat still. I think its almost a necessity to have touch screen with any live product and you have to get the much bigger and expensive models with Humminbird to have that.

What pole setup is that you are using on the mega live ducer?
I paid 2k for my boat, motor and trailer 😂 like you said, when the price comes down in 4-5 years I’ll probably get one. That said, video was very enjoyable 👍

I wanted this over the garmin but when you did your test with the 3... sooooooooo much interfere when other units are near it, just like when you put a vex near a humminbird

That stuff isn’t cheap so, before dropping the cash, having informed opinions and unbiased, practical advice is really helpful.
What I would be interested in would be the weight difference between the 3 with hummingbird not using the box.

Hey, I sold my mega live about a month after getting it. Stuck with garmin for live imaging.

Im a humminbird fan... lakemaster has the best maps by far in wisconsin... but i was really hoping mega live would give garmin a run for its money... garmin just still seems like the goat by far!
