2002’s have always been underrated regarding their versatility in my books. I just finished mixing a concert that was a singer/pianist, drummer and symphony, where the 2002’s fit in perfectly with the tonality of the symphony.
Thanks for your typical, thorough review! Like sharing how the 2002 are not just a great rock cymbal set, it’s qualities lends itself to a myriad of styles. In so many other reviews I’ve seen them mostly in a rock setting, not a jazz cafe or similar situation. Thanks for that insight.
Great review! They sound like "home" to me. I switched to signatures a couple years ago. There are times I miss the brilliance, and higher pitch of the 2002, or 2000.
Paiste cymbals, especially the 2002 series, are the perfect cymbals to me. I don’t wish to play any other brand. I’d love an endorsement deal with Paiste.
Playing in the orchestra pits for several weeks in a row, my drumset stayed in one place. The first week's I used Sabian AA. After the third week I brought my 2002 and went through a regular soundcheck. This sound engineer came down to me later and thought I had a whole different drum set. He had to see for himself what was different. I love 2002 crashes...... I don't use the word love often.
I purchased a 22" Paiste 2002 Power Ride in the late 80's. It's quite heavy with a huge bell that's outstandingly clear. It's my go-to ride for higher volume gigs.
I love mine. I have almost the same setup except a 22" ride with an additional 10" splash they don't make anymore. The BEST part is I got all of them back in the mid 90s for $250 US. My friend wanted to buy all new cymbals of a different manufacture and he asked me if I wanted to buy them. I said would $250 work and he said sure :)
Quality tones! The ride sounded a bit small and "crashy", I might like a 22" more. Also the 16" crash sounded almost like a big splash cymbal, good tone there too tho. I liked the hats and 18" very much. Cheers for a nice demo!
Been playing for 37 years. Started with Sabian then switched to Paiste. Then went with Zildjian. Loved the tones of the Paistes but unfortunately they cracked the soonest of them all. And they weren't straight and I never had them tightened down. Love the 2002 sound though.
@@johncollins5552 I must make a measurement on mine, as I do not think that 2002 are thiner than other brands. When I have time I will go through my Paistes, Sabians and Zildjians.
Buy this if you play all styles of music. There are some very fine cymbals out there for specific styles, but 2002 seems to work in so many situations.
I got the Rock set for my son as a gift. They are an awesome value in my opinion! I used his hats yesterday in place of my 2002s to try them out. They actually seemed more crispy and articulate than my 2002s. The 2002s seem more full sounding however, better sizzle and more complex sound. In any event, I love pst7!!
Yes some do but they have so many. I get lighter models. Big beats are killer but so light it can be limiting. They have less of that bell sound and more complexity
I have had many Paiste cymbals including a full set of 2002 (with a 19" china prototype too) but in the end I always sold them because I couldn't stand anymore those metallic, cold b8 overtones.

Lifelong Zildjian guy...just got my first Paiste setup in today - can't wait to do some recording with these 2002's!
Can't go wrong with 2002's... Versatile and musical

I believe Max Roach use to use the 2002 series when he played Paiste for a little bit.
I have exactly this set, they are the perfect cymbals ❤
Great review!
They sound like "home" to me.

Beautiful set of classic sounds and a great review and demo.

I have approximately 40 pAisTe 2oo2.
And I'm not Done. Insanely Versatile & Musical.
Had my 14 Sound Edge since 1977.
It's when the Addiction started.
I just did a review on the 2002 Paiste 16' crash, love it, glad you guys like it as well!
My favorites. I was a Zildjian guy. Bought them all from 10”-20” crash and 22” ride. I love them. Really sound good for recording.
Definitely some of the best sounding cymbals I've had wish I still had them
I regret selling mine
Love em, especially the “sound edge” hats and wider crashes 18” on

SO JEALOUS. :)
Looks like they still make the 22" ride, and 10" splash.
Great review as all ways.
Well that intro fill was awesome!

I was thinking the same about the 16", more splashy than a crash.
No surprise, they sound divine.
Paiste 2002 é Top !!!
I've had the 14" 2002 Hi-Hat for years, they're awesome. My ride will always be a "Rude" though, cheers!
YES! Which RUDE do you prefer? The ride/crash, or the power?
@@danlc95 I like the ride/crash

in general the 2002 are thinner than other brands but that helps their shimmering sound.
I like the heavy hats and ride but with classic crashes.

What does Paiste recommend for cleaning cymbals now that their cleaner is no longer in production?
guys, can you do a demo of paiste blue bell ride, zildjian k custom session ride and paiste masters deep ride?
Buy this if you play all styles of music. There are some very fine cymbals out there for specific styles, but 2002 seems to work in so many situations.
Paiste 2002 20" ride or 2002 heavy 20"ride?

Love the 2002 for harder Tours - and 602 - Paiste for the fine ... but only the Black - Label ..
What 2002 set do you recommend for metal playing? to have 2 crash
17” full crash 19” power crash
What stands are those?
mapex, apparently
hello friends i got the sisters of the 2002...the PST7 very good cymbals!
The best bang for your buck in all the cymbal industry. They also have hidden gems like the 20" light ride as a crash!

Paiste the best
Nolly looks a bit different.
😎👍💗🇨🇭🔥🎼🔊)) PAISTE!!!
It hurts to see him hit those crash cymbals like a piece of wood with a hatchet. Please use a sweeping motion if you want your cymbals to last longer.
I thought the same thing while watching..... It hurt my soul!

Just came here to confirm by bias is all. No shame.
I tried Paistes but I couldn’t hear them at all
You have to hit them with a drumstick.

Maybe he's confused them with pasties, if there is a tassel on it you got the wrong thing!
