    Terrific interview. Down to earth and relatable but obviously a top level coach and athlete (a very rare combination IME!

    Great interview. Had some coaching from Ian in a small group - would thoroughly recommend. Totally agree on heat stress training!

      I discussed this with him after so hopefully I can get a session with him 🤞 I’m definitely going to try some heat training 😬

    For me "race" is a four letter word. I haven't raced in years and probably will never race again (not even on Zwift). Your interview with Ian was very interesting and informative. Thanks!

      You’re likely in the same position as my dad, after racing previously he’s not overly bothered with it now… he just enjoys riding his bike now 👌

      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling If it isn't fun, I'm not going to do it.

    This is a great video. Some really good questions and Ian is really good at getting his knowledge across. Well done Giorgio for getting Ian to share this. Look forward to more of this content.

      Thanks 🙌 I was super lucky that Ian was one willing to do this and two give away so much valuable information… he’s a legend 🙌

    Brilliant interview. Ian seem like a great guy… does anyone know what happened to Liam Killeen? Is he still cycling?

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  ปีที่แล้ว

      He’s an absolutely top guy that’s for sure and I have no idea… I haven’t seen him at any races so I assume he doesn’t race anymore 🤷‍♂️

    What a great interview. Absolutely loved this. Would be great to get some kind of on the bike video with technique advice from some of these guys. Now thinking where we can build a local CX practice course! 😂 😂 😂

      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After Ian ripped apart my cornering after the interview I did mention trying to book him for a session… so might be able to convince him to let me film it 🤞
      😂 you and me both… it’s always hard finding a CX course!

    Great interview. A proper conversation and a lot of good info. Hopefully as the channel grows you’ll attract more and more interviewees although you set yourself a high bar with legends like Nick and Ian….next stop Nicki Brammier?

      I think I peaked early with Nick and Ian but hopefully I can get Nikki on 🤞

    Good stuff, agree with everything apart from the running technique stuff. Watching good cross country runners, they are pretty upright and I think this stops you scuffing so much which will slow you down in mud. Also if you are pretty strong you'll carry the bike easily rather than being weighed down. Muddy bikes weigh a ton, the women must struggle with this badly unless they do weight training.
    Ian is right about getting started early with training, most of us who arse around before the cross season starts get a kicking early season, lose points before coming good later. Personally I time trial in the summer so struggle with the sprinting efforts in September and I imagine there is a similar effect for mountain bikers as the races are different in effort, cross is crit on grass.... xc is hard but its easier to get a break , how often do you stop pedalling in cross? haha.... only when you are running.
    Top viding mate :-D

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to compare cross country running to running with the bike in my opinion because once you have a bike on your shoulder your weight is likely going to be out so leaning forward will likely counter balance this and help with momentum 🤷‍♂️
      Super hard to come into the cross season flying… I think everyone struggles as the demands of a CX race are so high 😅

    What pairs race do you talk about?

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We raced against each other in a pairs mtb race… it’s the Vittoria mtb marathon pairs race 👌
