The OSU 2024 Defense has a VERY real chance of being the best in school history. Pretty much everyone returned and they added Downs in the secondary that allows OSU to move Sonny Styles down to OLB where he will be a terrorist for opposing offenses. Teams will struggle to score and have any sustained success moving the ball. Bill O'Obrien was a grand slam base clearing hire! His pedigree with quarterbacks is flat out insane. Everyone cites how he didnt win a Natty with Saban but that isnt becuase of the tide offense that averaged over 40 a game on offense. Hell, OSU should coast to wins if the offense can just get to 24 points (It will FAR EXCEED THAT) Will Howard has to be just super excited.

Ohio State Natty bound vs Georgia. My biggest concern is not quarterback but O-line being more physical and dominate. I feel like that has or will be addressed. That is why the run game has not been as successful. Get ready for the Scarlet and Grey to dominate. God bless and Go Bucks!

In response to your request for thoughts from Buckeye fans. We were good enough to win it all a couple of seasons ago, but all Ryan Day's playmakers we're just decimated by injuries (Treveyon, Miyan, Evan, Jaxon . . . Stroud STILL would have beaten Georgia in the Playoffs if they'd just called a penalty when the defender knocked a defenseless receiver unconscious (apparently that's only a penalty when they want it to be & they didn't want Georgia to lose). Our team was talented enough again last year, but as you said, the QB play wasn't quite up to the level it had been (2 turnovers vs Michigan gave us another disappointing season). If we play that game again, most likely our first year QB doesn't throw multiple interceptions. Then when Kyle transferred, our backup QB got injured in the first quarter of the bowl game so we lost that one too! Basically, Ryan has rebuilt the defense with an exceptional hire, and he has recruited elite talent extremely well every year. The 5 Star first year QB fell just short, so with the team almost intact, what we needed most was a veteran QB to lead the charge. Day has plugged in a can't miss option there & is continuing to make upgrades to one of he best teams in the country! We returned many players who could have gone to the NFL early, plus we're adding a stellar recruiting class AND some of the most talented players searcing for a better situation via the transfer portal. Next season is going to be absolutely epic & our future is very bright with this young head coach building his legacy! He's improving virtually everything & he's been so, so close already!
Such an accurate assessment of our past few seasons and what's to come in the near future!

As a Buckeye fan, the bigger story is OSU retaining almost all draft eligible players than who they got out of the portal. The portal was simply icing on the cake.

As a Buckeye fan I am shocked with all the moves not only in the transfer portal but the fact that everyone who was draft eligible outside of Marv are coming back. Nothing but NFL guys on both sides of the ball. It’s crazy! Day is on the hot seat and you can tell!
I wish it didn't take Day being in the hot seat foe these changes to happen. The team has been stagnant for the past few years. I hope 2024 is our year. ❤

Honestly i think air noland is better than sayin anyway. They'll battle for the job next year. The only issue will be how does this effect the rest of the qb room lincoln or devin maybe both are likely gone.

If OSU gets Sayin I don’t think Noland transfers immediately. Id expect Kienholz gone and Brown in spring. Then QB room to be Howard Sayin Noland, then next year Noland Sayin competing and then assuming Sayin wins Noland will prob dip

It doesn't matter how much talent you have if you don't develop & coach up that talent. TTUN hasn't had nearly the talent as OSU the last three years, but their DEVELOPED talent has kicked our butts.
UM brought back most of their NFL draft eligible players last season. Their cupboard will be real bare. OSU is bringing back that talent next season. We'll see how this turns out.

Michigan didn't need help beating the teams on the schedule before the scabdal.
After the scandal broke,the team played their toughest competition and still controlled every game.
Stop with the lame excuses.
Michigan was simply a very good team.
The first team, in 120 years to not give up 25 points in a single game during the season.
Michigan has had it better in the trenches offensive line and defensive line. They've largely ridden that toughness at those positions to a three game win streak over OSU. All the speedy skill guys can largely be neutralized if you are kicking ass at the point of attack and that's what Michigan has done. Fair or not fair if Michigan beats OSU this year Ryan Day time in Columbus might be done. There is a decent chance the two schools play more than once this season too
the real threat Ohio State makes to the rest of college football that nobody seems to be talking about is its new Univ president and A.D. BOTH of which are indicating they want to be more aggressive than anyone else out there. Combined with the largest fanbase (tv ratings prove it) and a newly-emerging NIL foundation (that sealed the Downs deal) to be fed by said fanbase; they are boldly entering this new and uncharted (for better or worse) era of college football. Oh yeah, Bill O'Brien, known to be a hard-ass will be the perfect counter to serene, Pete Carroll-ish Ryan Day.
Yall gotta win real games though. You've had NFL talent across the board on offense and can't get it done.

Best off-season moves ever by THE Ohio State University, Day will deliver and O’Brien will get his due. I don’t care what happens to UM, an asteroid is headed for Ann Arbor this year and they know it. Will Howard is a tank and will be the difference when we need a first down. The Dude has it and will be our starter. I love Air’s promise he’s a winner. Adding Sayin would be nuts and set this up for a Burrows/Haskin showdown in 2025. It’s a legit question, is he the Dude?. The narrative for Ohio State lays on a sharp edge of a knife. 2022 a missed FG in the playoff likely decides the Natty. 2023 a whiffed block crushes McCord and alters his throw to an open Harrison…interception game over. So much has to go right to win it all, and my main point is Ohio State is doing everything to weaponize and stack the odds.

Talent has never been the problem with Ohio state, the problem is what they have on the sidelines, and Ryan Day, he knows he's on the hot seat and then the first thing he does is go out and get one of the most predictable and pedestrian offensive coordinators in all of college football and Bill O'Brien that was ran out of Alabama, and last season produced one of the absolute worst offensive teams in the NFL with the New England Patriots, and the plain and simple fact is this is a man that runs his offense through the quarterback and completely abandoned the running game which is one of Ohio State's absolute strengths, and I don't care what anybody says I'm not sold on will Howard as a quarterback, if you look at what he did last year at Kansas State statistically he was no better and sometimes worse in certain quarterback statistical categories then Kyle McCord, so there's been no upgraded that position but Ohio state has a ton of talent, and every one of these players play hard and give you 100% every time they go out there it's just unfortunate that they got a deal with a head coach that absolutely freezes and underperforms in big game situations
This has been a great off-season thus far. HOWEVER, all these offensive moves will amount to 0 if we don't get the situation with the O Line fixed. That's what I'm looking at. If we get production from that group, we steam roll EVERYONE.

Those players don't want to compete. They didn't have to at bama, recruiting didn't pan out the past two years. Hope they have good stats. Hope they don't have any competition on their team.
Biggest thing Bucks still need to address is the offensive line. Once that gets figured out we’re set.
