This was a his last performance before quitting for 5 years to work on himself and anxiety. When he finally was better and wanted to perform again, Covid hit. He then recorded an album called "Inside" referring to the lock down while in quarantine. Please check it out. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for this reaction video.
The performance from Make Happy, the one shown here, isn't his last performance before quitting - people created this myth to try and romanticise Make Happy. Which is a something that Bo himself probably hates, given that he tries to be realistic and grounded about mental health. But Make Happy was recorded in December 2015, but he was still touring well into 2016.
@@CynicaykePeople have a hard time understanding the meta nature of Bo's work. He's writing about genuine feelings, insights, and experiences but it gets taken too literally. Especially Inside where people act as if it was a live camera and they are witnessing him in the moment.

Oh, it had a wiggle room all right. The third AAAAH! Everyone in the production team freaked out, as that was the only unplanned part. And that was a panic attack on stage.
@@kucsidavee This is an urban legend. Bo addressed this in an interview at one point. It’s a popular one because one of the first things people learn about Bo is how incredibly precise his performances are. Although due to the timing (I think this was the fifth show from the end of this tour), and his comments about having panic attacks after basically every show by the end of the tour, it’s probably reasonable to assume he had one shortly afterward.
Bo's story is tragic and beautiful. He was quite literally one of the first TH-cam stars, and that weight eventually resulted in this performance. If you decide to get into Bo Burnham, PLEASE start from the beginning and work forward! It's incredible watching him grow from a kid who will say anything to illicit a response to someone who invokes deep emotions while making you laugh at the same time.

Must have watched literally hundreds of reactions to this song over 3 days - and even though I know the lyrics by heart now, and I know everything that is coming. Always in tears as soon as I the Can't handle this right now bit starts after he talks about Wanting to please the crowd, but also fear them. I kinda have the same thing in my general life.
The way I cry everytime I hear the end of this one even before I learned that he had panic attacks, it really resonate with me The feeling of putting a mask to please everyone yet still feeling like crumbling down from the pressure of not being me, it breaks people
He stooped performing for 5 years due to panic attacks he was suffering from serious anxiety issues. INSIDE is his coming back but then January 2020 happened. INSIDE IS AMAZING
Bo is special. This whole special is an amazing starting point, and Inside is a great follow up to see him vulnerable. His early stuff is more pun and word heavy, and can be juvenile, but its great to see how far hes come from being a 16 year old youtube star making videos in his room.
Awesome first reaction! Thank you for pausing while giving your feedback or waiting for a lull. So many reactors forget to do that and it’s so difficult to hear what they’re saying. Keep it up!
Its a song about the pressure he that faces when he performs and all the stress that comes with it,he stopped performing all together for 5 years because he was having panic attacks on stage
Also in this performance he had a panic attack At the and he was supposed to repeat the chorus but he was screaming instead because he couldnt handle his panic attack any longer
As someone else pointed out this was his last show for years because of anxiety and panic attacks, the screaming at the end was not intentional that was him having a panic attack he was doing it to get through the rest of the song. the last like 2 minutes of the song is super sad and introspective on his part makes ya wanna give him a big hug.
If it makes you feel better, he wasn't having a panic attach during this version of Can't Handle This. This is from the second night of recording, where he was fine. It was night one, most of which didn't make into the Netflix special, that he was struggling with. He talks about it here: th-cam.com/video/eOABIabgRCg/w-d-xo.html Fans trying to romanticise Make Happy by spreading the lie that his panic attack made into the final cut is really gross, and is the exact opposite of the message he was trying to convey here.
No. He’s said he wasn’t having a panic attack in this performance. He don’t make noises unless it’s been planned. It was 10000 percent planned. Watched him do it 3 different shows. Did it every time
Something the people here didn't mention is that this wasn't his last performance. Yes, make happy was his last tour but this wasn't the last performance in the tour.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Bo Burnham, this show was the last before a 5 year hiatus due to suffering panic attacks on stage. He is brilliantly talented and his recent project after the 5 year break is titled "Inside". ANY of the songs from that, or from Bo in general would be good to also react to. Then move on to "Tim Minchin"... you will see the influence he had on Bo. Best of luck with your channel, I hope the algorithm is kind to you 💜🇦🇺
This one always makes me cry. I saw this tour. I got tickets and knew he had said it was going to be the last time he performed and that just showed a little bit as to why back in 2015. I'd watch his specials here and there and was so excited when he announced he was making a new special on Netflix. It's just sad that when he was finally ready to get back on stage, he couldn't because the pandemic hit at the same time. But he also didn't let it stop him from giving us a performance either.
So, fun fact: Stand Up comedy isn't nearly as loose as a lot of people realize. The specific words you say can massively change the impact of the joke, and so does the timing. So, while it may not be composed exactly like a song, they do memorize it in a similar way, down to the meter of their speech. For some jokes, comedians will practice saying it exactly the same way, at the same speed, with the same inflection, hundreds of times to make sure that every time they tell the joke it lands the same way. Now, not all comics, or even all jokes from the same comic, require the words to be said with laser precision, but quite a few do. George Carlin used to practice his tougher bits literally right before he would go on stage to make sure the muscle memory in his mouth was ready.
Interesting story about this performance. Bo Burnhams performances are rehearsed exhaustively, ever beat, every word, every breathe is planned weeks or months in advance, every performance of a partifular song or bit is pretty much exactly the same as it has been planned out and rehearsed to perfection. In this performance his crew backstage started freaking out because the third scream he does in the very last part of the song was not planned and had never been added in before. This was Bo's last performance for 5 years before going on hiatus. You could think of this as him making a mistake but going by the context of the song and stuff I think it was more that he did it on purpose to really show that he couldnt handle this right now.
Bo's comedy routines are intricately planned out. The lighting, everything he says, everything he does, they're all planned out before-hand. Maybe there are some very small changes, but it's very much a mix of theatre and comedy
I think the burrito bit is a metaphor for the pressures and problems that came with his fame. He got famous at such a young age, and none of the adults in his life prepared him for the crazy amount of stress that comes with being a live performer on the road for months at a time. He thought that all the perks of being rich and famous would be like delicious burrito ingredients that he would enjoy, but before he knew it, the burrito was too full and it ruined his mental health. "I wouldn't have got the lettuce if I knew it wouldn't fit." "I wouldn't have got the cheese if I knew it wouldn't fit." "And I don't think that I can handle this right now."
One thing you will learn about Bo..... he does not wing ANYTHING, he overplans and overprepares and overrehearses everything, and the result is just wonderful.
Very VERY fun and genuine reaction! Loved it. Also liked that you didn't stop every five seconds and let it build the way it was supposed to build! Can definitely recommend watching more stuff from Bo. I think you probably get the gist of it already with all the comments about him :D
Watching your faces during his deeper lines made me wanna cry. I felt the exact same way when I first saw this video. Liked and subscribed. You're a gem.
Honestly, watching this gave me the same chills I get just watching the video myself. It was your facial expressions and your comments that really resonated with me! I made a lot of the same faces the first time I watched it, too. I still do sometimes. The concern in your brow :( Yeah, knowing he was suffering major anxiety/panic attacks at the time of this recording too really changes things. I'd love to see more reactions, especially to Bo's stuff!
I really enjoyed your reaction! Id love to see you in more! You seem really empathetic and theres tons of music that reaction fans will recommend to pull on your heartstrings. We love seeing reaction people discover deep artistic things and have genuine and profound reactions because in a way we get to re-visit how we felt the first time hearing these masterpieces again! Hope youll consider trying alot more :)
If by "just a little bit overwhelmed", you mean, about to walk off stage, break down, then walk away from performing, for five years. You should check out "All Eyes on Me", next, for the follow up.
I've been in a bit of a rabbit hole on youtube watching reaction videos to this track for a week or so, and you nailed it. You did a better reaction video than people with 1M subscribers. Keep on because you did great.
This was an excellent reaction video! You hit all the important bits: 1. You chose a really good video to react to. 2. It was very well edited. Audio was mixed well, and the Bo video was clear and not distorted, but also not in your way. 3. You didn't talk over Bo's dialogue too much. 4. And the big one... you didn't pause the video every 5 seconds. Pauses were infrequent and short, just the way they should be. I wish every react video on TH-cam was like this. Thanks for the content! Would love to see you react to more of Bo's stuff.
Bo actually had a mental breakdown at the end of this performance. The third scream at the end was not part of the set and very real. He took a good break afterwards
There is so much more of his stuff you should check out. I don't say it lightly, but I really do think this guy is a genius. He's staggeringly creative, whip smart and original.
If you watch his first show, called ''What'', he does a whole bit about how EVERY detail of his shows is planned. Besides his talent he is the consummate professional, and that is something that he mentions here... the ''deep part'' you comment on is even deeper than you think-- how much he cares about his messages and his performance really goes above. Watching his full shows is well worth the time.
Would love to see more Bo Burnham! There is so much to react to. If you react to his songs from the Inside special, then I would recommend watching the whole thing and uploading it in portions, because the in between scenes are so important to get the real feel for all the songs!
never seen you on TH-cam before this reaction but Bo Burnham is gold keep reacting to him and your channel will blow up.. but you need to take the Bo journey from the beginning to now.
A different artist you should check out is Ren. He’s currently going viral with his song Hi Ren. He’s British, and has an incredible story. The song Hi Ren is mind blowing. And completely unexpected.
An ex of mine died a year after this came out of a heroin overdose but One of my happiest memories of her was us watching this. Watching it's usually good for a Cry then existential reconstruction
I normally don’t comment on videos where they ask for recommendations, but this is an exception; if you want a good song for reactions, I’d love to hear your thoughts on “All Eyes on Me”by Bo Burnham. It is a direct sequel to this song and he even references this song in it. Honestly ANY Bo Burnham would be good, but try to remember that he’s a very introspective comedian so his songs will be funny on the surface, but you can really get some deep meaning if you look a little. But great reaction on this! A lot of people don’t really catch that this song was a cry for help, either. After this song he didn’t perform for 5 years.
Very good first reaction, I must say! I like to watch a lot of reaction videos (Ellie Rose too), and you did very well: didn't pause too much, genuine reactions, pleasant voice & lighting. You could analyze a bit more at the end, especially after intense & meaningful performances like this. Most people react like you, they want to hug him after watching this. You're right - at that time he really was NOT okay, and definitely needed a hug (and a break). Bo is a very good artist to start with, he has tons of good content. Just go with the suggestions; you can just pick the most popular ones or go in order from older content to newest, doesn't matter. They're all good, and people like to watch reactions to Bo. I know I would.
So if you haven't yet you should check out Bo Burnham's "Inside Out" to understand the full story. This was just the beginning but his story is one of the most thoughtful and present in this day and age for summing up what millions of people feel. Specifically Artists but also just people with mental health issues.
fun facts, this was bo burnhams last show before a 5 year break that just ended with the release of his song "welcome to the internet" and unrelated ti that, bo burnham is 6 foot 5
Liked and Subscribed for more Bo reactions!!! Always awesome seeing someone watch Bo for the first time. The dude’s got a back catalogue that’s just pure gold. A little background, this song was the closer for his 3rd special and he took 5 years off from doing comedy (for reasons) right after this performance. I’d love to see you react to any Bo Burnham song but since you watched this song in particular, you’ve gotta do ‘All Eyes on Me’ as well. It’s a kind of thematic sibling to this song. Fun depressing story... He had a break down during this. When you see him break down, it's real. He went on hiatus for years after this. "Inside" was his first performance afterward. The "hooo"s you here at 8:28 are (according to his bio) real. So much love for Bo.
The reason he was letting out yells at the end is because he was having an anxiety attack at that moment. He was just trying to make it through the song.
If you enjoyed it, his other shows are on Netflix too as well as his most recent, Inside. I would highly suggest watching all of Make Happy though and not just the last song 😅
This is the first reaction video of yours that I've ever watched. You caught what he was actually saying towards the end there, so I will watch more of your stuff. Basically, this video is a great litmus test to use for people who make reaction content. If they just jam out and don't say anything about the obviously concerning things Bo Burnham is admitting to in the video, their reaction is worthless, I think. Then again, there are people who just aren't used to listening to lyrics in songs overall, I guess
Very good reaction. I hope you keep doing them :) It's very interesting if you react to a few, or a lot of, an artist's songs to you get to know them a bit as well. Bo burnham has a pretty big catalogue with 3 or 4 specials. I also enjoy when people react to new artists so if you haven't listened a lot to Eminem, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot etc. those might be interesting journeys. I'll keep watching for sure, great entertainment :)
People do not get it. That mic drop at the end was actually final. He had a panic attack right there, live on stage. Since that mic hit the floor, he has not spoken a word to a live audience.

TH-cam algorithm will never stop recommending these Bo Burnham reactions. And I will continue to watch every one of them. #ImTheProblemItsMe
Bo is in my top 3 comedians, this was a great reaction video definitely do more! I plan on starting some myself!
This got in my recommendations, so pre-excited to see someone hearing this for the first time. Bo is incredible.
Subscribed to see more Bo reactions. And other reactions.
He is quite the performance artist.
Best of luck growing your channel.
Thank you!! ☺️
The burrito is an analogy about being an artist the money, the fame it started seeping out of him everywhere
Would love to see more Bo Burnham! There is so much to react to. If you react to his songs from the Inside special, then I would recommend watching the whole thing and uploading it in portions, because the in between scenes are so important to get the real feel for all the songs!
The Pringles and burrito bits are metaphors
If you're impressed by his memory now, you should check out We Think We Know You.
never seen you on TH-cam before this reaction but Bo Burnham is gold keep reacting to him and your channel will blow up.. but you need to take the Bo journey from the beginning to now.
I watched Ellie's reactions a little while ago. Excited to watch you experience Bo!
I’m a rapper and Bo inspires me to make my own music.
Definitely check out All Eyes On Me. It’s essentially a followup on this song from five years later. During the pandemic.
the whole special is available free on his channel
Only Bo could write something that makes you feel you should laugh, while tears are flowing down your face.
A different artist you should check out is Ren. He’s currently going viral with his song Hi Ren. He’s British, and has an incredible story. The song Hi Ren is mind blowing. And completely unexpected.
He just released 'Sick boi" which is the single of his upcoming album. Hi-Ren blew up at the right time, such an amazing artist.
What i like to say to Pringles: "Why a can?"
Honestly 😂
Loved your reaction... you should listen and react to Ren - hi Ren.
Love it! Would love to see you do anything by Bo.
I hope you watch more of bo he is a genius and is so personal with his comedy
For the first reaction, this is actually pretty good and yea Bo Burnham is my fav artist. I would suggest reacting to "Straight White Men" next
Makes you tear up a bit doesn't it
An ex of mine died a year after this came out of a heroin overdose but One of my happiest memories of her was us watching this.
He definitely timed all of the dialogue and singing, it's a really difficult thing to do for such a long song live! He's a pro
Yes I need more your reaction was amazing
Lovely first try at a reaction video! Bo is a damn genius and an incredibly unique comedian. I highly recommend checking out his other stuff.
Please do so much more reactions to Bo Burnham, his work is amazing
Liked and Subscribed for more Bo reactions!!! Always awesome seeing someone watch Bo for the first time. The dude’s got a back catalogue that’s just pure gold.
A little background, this song was the closer for his 3rd special and he took 5 years off from doing comedy (for reasons) right after this performance. I’d love to see you react to any Bo Burnham song but since you watched this song in particular, you’ve gotta do ‘All Eyes on Me’ as well. It’s a kind of thematic sibling to this song. More Bo, all his stuff is meaningful. It’s stuff you need to try to understand what he really means. Keep it up!
React to more bo burnham! He really is a genius. He made a special in 2021 all just from his room called “inside”
Fun depressing story...
He had a break down during this. When you see him break down, it's real. He went on hiatus for years after this.
"Inside" was his first performance afterward.
The "hooo"s you here at 8:28 are (according to his bio) real.
So much love for Bo.
Great reaction! You should do more for sure!
Thank you! Will do!
Very good song for your first reaction.. Good job.. Got a new sub..
Thank you!!
all of his perfomances are rehearsed to the second, so yea he doesnt wing it or does improv he knows what he has to say and when to the second.
Ohh mann!! Bo Burnham rabbit hole!! Must react to his Inside special on Netflix!!!
Bo Burnham is my favorite comedian honesty
The reason he was letting out yells at the end is because he was having an anxiety attack at that moment. He was just trying to make it through the song.
Bo Burnham usually does not wing it in these performances, they are well rehearsed as far as i know.
If you enjoyed it, his other shows are on Netflix too as well as his most recent, Inside. I would highly suggest watching all of Make Happy though and not just the last song 😅
Today's one heavy song fire your first reaction! Good on you. Good luck!
I absolutely love watching people react to bo burnham ❤
This hits the soul
If you want to see how carefully he has scripted and memorized things, watch "We Think We Know You." Starts slow but is amazing.
Earlier in this special he does a finger gun while saying the show is planned down to the gesture and a little sound effect goes off.
People do not get it. That mic drop at the end was actually final. He had a panic attack right there, live on stage. Since that mic hit the floor, he has not spoken a word to a live audience.
