As someone who never played a Warhammer game and currently owns no material for the game(s), whose eye was caught by the Soulblight Gravelords for having undead dragons, giant bats, skeletons, etc. I see this as an absolute win. Looking forward to visiting a Warhammer store for the first time later this week.
I think you nailed the lumineth player mentality!! LOL. I am a lumineth player and they were my first army. I spent all COVID painting it and whenever I lose a block of my fancy wardens I freaking hate it. I know this is wrong and they are my chaff but it feels so different than me losing a block of liberators in my SCE army!
I agree with most of your takes, the main source of NPE on top tables is usually the actual opponent moreso than the army.
I'd be buying any of my opponents a beer though, regardless of their list/chosen faction
The people saying things like "there is no NPE" are among those causing NPE.
Would love to hear this updated/redone when 4th edition has been out for a bit. I feel like this is a really interesting and useful topic for beginners and/or people just getting into AoS.

I believe that bonus points should be awarded to any army that offers their opponent a large number of models to reliably kill. Taking models off the board is a balm that soothes the pain of a few OP scrolls or some army rules that are above the curve.
Agree ! Especially because I will fight full Stormcast dragons at 1000 points game haha
Personally everything about the horde aspect of the skaven is missing.
Units like the rattling gun weapon team, have been nerved in such a way that the chance of it surviving it’s own overcharge ability is almost non (has like an 11% chance of surviving)
Personally I don’t want to play a unit that states shoot me ones and I die.
I want it to say overcharge me and have a chance of dying not you die and risk is it survives
You made good points and defended your positions. Its just...the majority of the armies of the game cause either indifferent or a NPE. That doesn't speak highly of the fun of playing the game.

Nah dont, play what you like the look of cause this is aos, this is the dad version of warhammer 40k just chill and play the game and no faction is that annoying, apart from maybe the lizards

I think the stare down in bonesplitterz is a source of NPE as well. Having your centerpiece get stared out in one turn is pretty rough!
But the minigame is really fun! And their wizard will often times just blow themselves up, which is awesome
@@JackieChan1199 Maybe for some. But putting a 700 point model on the table and having it be taken off in one turn is never gonna be fun to a casual player whether it happens in shooting or from a hero's ability.
I feel bad in that now I play Nurgle and I use the big bugs too and my other army is stormcast and you only need a few units to play that. My opponent bought the new Tzeentch and also NIghthaunt so I guess I don’t feel so bad ha ha. Also he has skaven which are wacky tons of different builds.
IJZ take is on point. It's also a bit NPE for the IJZ player because you have so many movement options available to you it can be a deceptively slow army to play too
That said, moving 36" and dealing 40+ damage with Destroyer is straight Beer Tier
When damage started to get too high it shifted towards damage not going through. When gargants were everywhere we all wanted to do millions of damage (read fulminators). And now you can’t touch NH, LRL (Ymetrica) och Nurgle flies. There seems to be no in between. And the armies that are struggling can’t deal nor take that level of damage so they take the Krondspine so now we’re all salty!

Except ironblaster and stonehorn, most of the book is either overpriced or trash...

The problem with ranking whole armies is how to adjust for problematic outliers within the armies. Like how you brought down Nurgle multiple tiers due to Drowned Men Fly spam. But then Thanquol on a boat isn't considered for the ranking of Skaven.
Yes, but when things are a singleton like Thanquol it is less offensive generally than something which is negative and can be spammed
Warclans and stormcast 1st battletomes of ed. syndrome. The rules stormcast should have are in the 3.0 slaves book.
Not sure about the fireslayers being so high, they have so many once per game abilities I could see a new person asking for them rules whenever they play them
Yeah, maybe. No one thing is all that bad but just keeping it all in your head is pretty much impossible. When I play my foot heroes Fyreslayers list it takes me like 15 minutes to tell my opponent everything they can do, and I can see them glazing over after about 2 minutes. But I feel like I need to tell them, because if I just focus on the really weird stuff (i.e. the grimwrath that runs and charges and fights twice and destroys the world for one turn with the artefact or the fights first when charged) but don't tell them about the rest, I don't want them to feel like they were gotchad by say the mortals on 6s to wound rune, or something like that. So even though I know for a fact that telling them everything is just going to make them remember nothing, I still end up doing it, and they either fall asleep or get impatient halfway through.
That said, once people do know what the various bits can do, I find it's a lot of fun both to play and to play against. But that first match against someone who hasn't played them before tends to be really rough.
I kinda disagree on your take with the ogors. Underguts are pretty aids to play against, at least from my experience. xD
I am gunna hard disagree with the Idoneth tier....the strikes first, smash king, shooting, anti shooting....nah man they can sod off
