I have been using an almost identical build for a couple of weeks now - very effective at solo. I have an armoured PP which helps but I have prioritised some of my internals differently. I only have two shield boosters as the yellow beam attack strips it anyway making the additional boosters a waste for me and have instead installed additional point defense. It saves me from a caustic missile or two. This also provides protection for SFL. Long range 8A sensor for if/when the goid backs off a little too far if I chase swarm. I found the SFL hit and miss. Great for distracting the swarm but AX not terribly great for damage. perhaps meant more to encourage multicrew. Problem is no defense so more often than not I found Aegis F with point defense better assists me with disabling missiles. Rusty dog made a great suggestion with fire groups - draining the half the ammo from 2 multis and then switching to all 4. This puts the MCs on a rotating reload and you never have to stop firing and dont miss any opportunities if you get a good shot. Basilisk supposedly solo with conda but no way to drop health to the point where its heart opens. Perhaps 3x MCs and 1xSeeker may do trick, who knows. Nice vid CMDR o7
Remember that the main difference between Military hull armor and reactive are the stock resistances. The reactive costs about double and you wind up with the same amount of hull points. With the sheer number of modified hull reinforcements you're pretty likely to wind up with good stock resists. Also, I would suggest at least one Module Reinforcement for anyone running bi-weaves against thargoids (or any build that will have shields drop,) Repairs are expensive and any less damage taken to modules saves on that repair bill. As you found out against that basilisk previously 7k in hull is meaningless when it shoots out your power plant!
What about engineering the beam lasers for thermal vent and fire them at the thargoid to cool down a bit quicker when you overheat? Plus if thargoids see by heat signature, could maybe help with sneaking for a while
Hey CMDR Plater, Sorry but I can not confirm your comment on not killing the swarm. Actually I can report the exact opposite. If you kill a swarm it will often not be there for a while. Sometimes he immediately respawns it, but mostly not. Where as if you only reduce it to 5 or less, it will CONSTANTLY! increasy it's size back to 32 as soon as they get close to each other.
Awesome build and good fight. Now I feel better when i got in front of a Thargoid with my FAS .. I just got toasted in 1 min. just jumped off luckily. But now I want that Anaconda so badly.
Hey get the gaurdian fsd booster and that build will get 35ly jump pretty sweet my corvette gets 29 ly jump how amazing is that. Adds a flat 10.5 ly to your jump range. That is the only gaurdian tech i will unlock necause i find the process to infuriating.
Well done CMDR Plater !! Wow - you properly cooked yourself - almost made 700% (692 IIRC) :) One good point of being so hot was that when the 2nd caustic missile hit you, it did nothing as you were already over 200%......
Good Job man! But only one class 3 MC can melt the Cyclops heart easily now...The Basilisk are a different story, but I don't like to fight those, as they get you more tired and frustrated than actually challenged. I also take down cyclops on solo and have tried some variations with the Cutter and a Mix of class 3 Missiles , class 3 MC and AX fighter to handle the Thargons also works nice to burn the flying flowers! A class 8 bi-weave without boosters and a ton of point of defenses makes it a lot easier! O7 CMDR!
Why do you want a resistance shield booster setup if thargoids are doing caustic damage? Do they do all spectrums of damage? Wouldnt it otherwise be better to have more shield than resistance?
+DootDoot the swarm basically ignores any shielding you have I could go with Prismatics but the issue there is the power draw and OC power higher levels make it weaker.
Might wanna rethink the Lightweight 5 Sensors. Your Integrity sinks to dangerous levels, and it's not like you'll be saving a lot of Mass anyway, given all the Reinforcements. My 2 cents.
I once travelled out the 5000ly required to unlock an engineer and didn't want to fly back. So rather than just self-destructing, I tried flying into a star. It took a RIDICULOUSLY long time and a whole LOT of warnings, etc, before my ship finally burned up. Once you do that, it's kind of funny how much "drama" they try to introduce when your heat gets a little over 80%!
Thank you for the Video. PVP is boring at time cause CheEng.... you never know what they do use. So i will have a lot fun with my friends from EDS and Aberrants in Elite Dangerous soon. About beyond now is there somthing new special to fitt ? Have a Nice Day commander!
Why did you use a Bi-Weve shield? Wouldn't it have been better to go normal or prismatic for the boost to shield strength. You didn't get a chance to regain your shields at all during the fight so bi-weve regen rate seems kind of pointless. Also what engineer mod did you use on your bi-weve?
Once you hit 200% you burn off the caustic so why did you not come off silent running after that and instead let your ship heat up to 690% and melt all it's modules ? Also the caustic burnoff trick is only needed if you think you won't make it back. The caustic you had was nowhere near enough to threaten your ship.
+Rusty Dog did you not pick up on the sarcasm before the fight? I managed to "forget" to turn off silent running. I'd only been hit with caustic once before and it chewed through my vette really quickly so this was pretty much first time nerves!
I must have missed that. :) Well at least you got your first kill out of the way. You'll refine the technique on each one no doubt and it will be a lot less nervy next time.
Would you say the Anaconda is the best ship for the task? Many times you've said that your fave combat ship is the Corvette, any reason not to choose the Corvette?
+CMDR GreenDemon the corvette can't mount the 4 large ax weapons due to hard points, that's the deciding factor for me, there is a bit of a trade off between handling and firepower but the conda works great.
Makes me wonder if, having gone through all the trouble to equip and engineer the purpose-built Type 10, I should just scrap it and build an AX-specific 'Conda. God knows I prefer flying my combat/passenger 'Conda a lot more than that flying sled of a Defender!
I had no luck killing a Thargoid in a T10, so I did exactly that, scrapped it, and then outfitted a 'Conda heavily engineered, works a treat on the Xeno scum! Saying that, my T10 was unmodded, even so I'm not sure it would've helped. The 'Conda does the job for me nicely, 2 solo kills so far :-)
Understanding that this pastime seems oriented toward veteran commanders with large credit balances and who're thus no longer heavily motivated by the need to amass more credits, do you even make any money hunting these aliens? How much are your typical repair/refit costs after each solo battle?
Depends how much damage you take. For killing a cyclops, the reward is 2 million cr. Deduct from that anything from around 1/2 a million in repair costs, and x amount of credits for the NPC fighter pilots cut, then you don't make much at all, it's all about the satisfaction for me :-)
Where the pickled hell can I get size 3 AX multi's? I am in Asterope and I have been to 8 stations in the nebula and I can only find 2's, you would think a region at war with them would stock the tools needed but,,, no no, this is Frontier. It has to be a tedious pain in the A. Sorry 700 hrs into this game and I have gripes. My little Vulture can take the beating but I only have 2 slot AX multi cannons on it. They hit like ping pong balls against the Cyclops. And it takes 600 rounds to knock out a scout. I am in a wing with a friend and I would like to be some help instead of od fodder.
Very bad fighting commander, you just tanked it, you were very lucky it did not melt your pp. Also not destroying the thargon swarm is a very bad idea! But anyway congrats for your first win and o7
Good job sir.
The trick of becoming a flying furnace definitely bamboozled the goid!!
The sounddesign is mindblowing!
Great fight sir - but 689% peak on the temperature gauge!!! You must have fire proof underwear.

Nice vid CMDR o7
Best build advice I have gotten since 2014. Thank you, CMDR. o7
Didn’t even know you could take out a Thargoid solo!

Dont face it without moving. Orbit it. I also recommend to lower your thermal signature, it’s the primary way they see us. Use heat sink if needed.
I enjoyed watching that, a good fight! Can't wait to get home and convert my corvette!
What about engineering the beam lasers for thermal vent and fire them at the thargoid to cool down a bit quicker when you overheat? Plus if thargoids see by heat signature, could maybe help with sneaking for a while

Agree with this, if you leave the swarm up it reinforces quickly but its slow to rebuild a swarm provided you havent taken too long between hearts.
Kill all swarms, 1 is launched at the start and one after every heart.
Awesome build and good fight. Now I feel better when i got in front of a Thargoid with my FAS .. I just got toasted in 1 min. just jumped off luckily. But now I want that Anaconda so badly.
Great job. I would like to take on a Thargoid but I only have about 4 engineers unlocked and it would probably take me months to get a ship ready
Hey get the gaurdian fsd booster and that build will get 35ly jump pretty sweet my corvette gets 29 ly jump how amazing is that. Adds a flat 10.5 ly to your jump range. That is the only gaurdian tech i will unlock necause i find the process to infuriating.
seeing this makes me aim to get a ship and start helping to drive back the thargoids.
I would have replaced the c1 beams with multicannons, to take that little extra bit of demand off your plant.
Well done CMDR Plater !!
Wow - you properly cooked yourself - almost made 700% (692 IIRC) :)
One good point of being so hot was that when the 2nd caustic missile hit you, it did nothing as you were already over 200%......
+Dave Howorth I'm pretending it was intentional
👍 good vid. It would be cool to see your most recent build and battles 😁
Good Job man! My first solo thargoid battle wasn't that pretty either but after 10 fights I'm a straight up beast.
How about shard cannons? Cmdr Warflower does an impressive 60 sec kill!
Understand they work very well, this was pre guardian tech, I tend to use plasma chargers and gauss cannons now
Why do you want a resistance shield booster setup if thargoids are doing caustic damage? Do they do all spectrums of damage? Wouldnt it otherwise be better to have more shield than resistance?

Got an update build for fighting basilisks and Medusa?
I thought i cooked my ship but oh no Plater got me beat lol.
wow didnt know you could survive 600% heat! good to know.
And my DBX I'm exploring in has never even gotten to 80% heat. She runs nice and cool, idles at about 21% in supercruise with everything turned on.
Well, we don't actually know he survived it, as it faded to black before heat got back to normal!
Well, I guess you DID burn off the caustic damage.
Thank you for the Video. PVP is boring at time cause CheEng.... you never know what they do use. So i will have a lot fun with my friends from EDS and Aberrants in Elite Dangerous soon. About beyond now is there somthing new special to fitt ? Have a Nice Day commander!
I just downloaded this game on xbox. Is it any good?
What happens if you ram the Thargoid?
Why did you use a Bi-Weve shield? Wouldn't it have been better to go normal or prismatic for the boost to shield strength. You didn't get a chance to regain your shields at all during the fight so bi-weve regen rate seems kind of pointless. Also what engineer mod did you use on your bi-weve?
I've actually gone back over this build and changed a few things, Prismatics and guardian weapons are in!
Haha,if you watch closly that thargoid ship died from enormous thermal damage from anaconda which raised its heat level of a m class star
3 2 1 and.......
ax multicannon nerf!
How did you remove the caustic substance from yourself at 12:29?
+afloox if your heat is over 180% the caustic damage is removed
Wow! Thank you for this info so much. :)
Once you hit 200% you burn off the caustic so why did you not come off silent running after that and instead let your ship heat up to 690% and melt all it's modules ?

what was the main method in making all those credits
Aidan Glover if you go to sothis, take all of the missions for ceos and vice versa. Makes 10 million an hour
How many months of grinding for the engineer stuff?
+Kristaps Vecvagars took maybe a week, I use edengineer on pc, track your materials and multiple blueprints at the same time.

@@CMDRPLATER Thanks CMDR. as well great content too.
that was fucking intense o_O
Interesting. I thought there was a limit of 4 AX weapons on hardpoints. You seem to have 6.
+J. S. B. The flaks are not counted against the number of ax weapons. Only the multis and missiles do
i'd love to have a go at a goid, but then i think about what is needed to unlock selene jean and i lose all will to live, so........
500 Tons doesn't take so long.
Damn your let your ship burn there mate.
+Bear Wolf nah I was just preventing caustic damage ;)
and roasting those 50 imperial slaves in the cargo hold for supper at the same time!
CMDR PLATER You left it on even after it came off and you got to 600% heat. Congratulations but god damn you are not a good pilot.
yeah teh caustic damage goes away at like 280 so you got carried away. but ya got the job done
Wonder how my cobra would fair 🤔🤔🤔🤔😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Michael Eldridge not well bouth mediums would be ax multi cannons and ur hull would be crippled istantly
Very bad fighting commander, you just tanked it, you were very lucky it did not melt your pp. Also not destroying the thargon swarm is a very bad idea! But anyway congrats for your first win and o7
You are such a goon.. 600%+?! 😂
He couldn’t face a stronger thargoid ship he would have been dust
Yeah I suck.
