This is an absolutely great idea as well as others you mentioned to make the fabric markers. I have made markers out of index cards and the held fair. The I decided to repurpose the plastic drink or milk cartons and made 2 inch squares with pin holes. I didn’t decorate them yet but that is a good thing to do for like doodle days when I want to do something but nothing really involved. Thank you for sharing this and all your talents. And Have an awesome day everyone ❤
Good idea. I use flower head pins and use a marker pen to write letters and numbers on. The number ones are handy to mark rows and columns of blocks for sewing in order.
I made row markers with corsage pins with beads and number beads glued on. So cute. I’ve also used the number and letter beads with curved basting pins. My next thing is embroidered tiles to use with my large fabric clips. The clips hold more than the pins.
I use small pieces of painter’s tape that I write the letter and/or number (I use numbers for rows when sewing blocks together). They stick and don’t fall off =).
Thank you for the idea. This will work perfect although I’ll probably do a double punch hole so I can stick a pin to hold on the fabric. Thank you so much.🥰
Thanks for this great idea. Of course I had all this stuff in my stash. Shrinky Dinks, cropadile and paper trimmer. I actually needed some higher numbers for a project and these are sturdy and fun to make. You just got another subscriber!❤
Thank you for your idea. I am a quilter and I’m glad you came up in my feed. I’m gonna share this with my sew groups. I will look at what other content you have you sound like you’re full of ideas.
Hey Lora, this is so much fun. I used note cards, but this is better. After using them they kind of get worn out. So I am going to look for this product and made some. Thank you for this, it's very amusing start to your new Haven.
Hello Lora. I am a new subscriber. this can also be made with dollar tree plastic cutting mats; they are perfect for templets, and I use them all the time. that way if younger people wanted to make them, they wouldn't have to use the oven. God Bless
I love all your tutorials! And see slings too! We are down sizing big time here. I will be moving to a much smaller home. I will still have my sewing room, but much smaller- like a 10 x 12 room no closet. 🥴how do you store your fabric. Your sewing room is so cute. Thanks!
Great idea! But what I really love is finding a fellow Fiesta collector! I am guessing persimmon and turquoise for the two larger canisters, but I can't put a name to the blue one. Thanks for sharing all your ideas and will look forward to seeing future content! Happy New Year!
Ha! I do love my Fiestaware. I purchased 4 sets of 4-piece place settings when we were first married 18 years ago and they are still going strong. Only 2 or 3 pieces have been broken, but none have chipped. That's a life going through a little girl, too, so that speaks volumes to quality. The canisters are turquoise, poppy, and lapis. My place settings are cobalt, sunflower, evergreen, and cinnabar. What I love about it is that I can add in other things in different colors and it just makes the table more fun. :) Thanks for watching and for the fun observation.
@@lorabrinkman I found I couldn't collect all I wanted, so I have limited myself to the footed rice bowls. I buy one whenever a new color comes out. I should realized it was poppy! And, I forget the name "lapis" almost every time. I have lots of colors of place settings; my favorite is sunflower.
To be honest, I had to go look at the list of colors to remember. Ha! There was a Fiestaware outlet near me for a while. I'm so sad they are now closed, but for years that's how I got the extra pieces for serving bowls, platters, casseroles, etc. I really want a latte mug or the tall coffee cup. The regular coffee cup sizes are too small for people like me who add milk. Ha!
@@lorabrinkman My favorite pieces I have is a full set of "Holiday" for 8. I pull it out just after Thanksgiving and use it until New Years. I add Scarlet and Jade as accent pieces and for extra folks. Love your channel; thanks for chatting!
Lora, can you please tell me what kind of hole punch you use for your Lori Holt Sew Shapes? I’ve cracked 2 of mine. 😢 Thanks so much. Love your channel!
The same as I use for the alphabet tiles... crop a dile. Link in the description box on this video. But here it is for you. Crop A Dile: amzn.to/40Yfg6v
I've never heard of Shrinky Dink. Ha ha ha! I made markers with card stock and stick on letters from the scrapbook section of stores. The letters have stayed on very well. I used a coin collection plastic pocket sheet to keep them in. But I think a small container would maybe work better. Thank you!
I was tired of using pieces of paper for my rows, in quilting, so i cut the gridded template plastic, put row numbers on them, punched a hole in the top, & used safety pins to attach them to my rows. No more problems!
Just curious, while the LH Seed Packets are cute, do you not find it beyond appalling at having to spend $53.00 for a quilt pattern set. I would have bought her first set of seed packets, loved them... until I saw the price at $70.00 for the entire set. In a world where the cost of fabric and batting has become ridiculous, paying $50 dollars for a pattern makes the price of a quilt so much that I can't stomach the thought. (And, I can afford it, I just am not willing to "tell" the designer and Riley Blake that I support that price point). I'm glad that you have them and am sure that you will enjoy the quilt once made.
I understand the hesitation. My husband actually bought me all of the kits for the series as an anniversary gift. I also make most of her applique quilts and while you have to purchase the sew simple shapes, the pattern for those are free. Plus, she has lots of free patterns on her channel. I guess I figure it evens out over time. Quilting is not a cheap hobby, but neither is cross stitch. My husband was so confused when he ordered a cross stitch chart for me and all he got was a bi-fold card. He thought he had messed up, because there wasn't fabric or floss or anything. I do agree with you and I don't purchase them all the time, but in this instance I'm very excited to make the quilt.
@@lorabrinkman It was a great and thoughtful gift. And I think what bothers me the most if I had to break it down is simply if this were a less "popular" designer, the price would be far less. It's the Taylor Swift phenomenon.. Lori is popular so lets milk that. I have made some of her free patterns and value that she has a YT site. Honestly, likely the pricing is determined by Riley Blake. Thank you for the reply, it was thoughtful of you. Often YT's don't reply. Have fun making your quilt!
@@Ronibearable oh... that is absolutely not me... I try to respond to each and every comment... however, I also don't typically get thousands of comments, so might be different in that situation. Have a fabulous day and again... thanks so much for watching. :)
Super agree with this! LH is just not "special" enough to justify the price. I have spent ridiculously on special fabric, but I feel like Lori Holt is just an aesthetic/gimmick. @Ronibearable
@ Right. I have never bought any LH books or fabric. They bundles are so huge they cost 200.00 and frankly who needs more than one granny fabric quilt. The books are just too cutesy for me. Bumble bees and teapots. Not my thing. I think that FQS though has really been a huge part of putting LH out there and a big reason for her popularity. I will stick to Fig Tree, Sherry and Chelsie and Sweetwater etc.
What a brilliant idea I have all these things in my paper craft stash, SEW that's what I will be doing today for my sewing projects, thanks for the idea. Take care xx
Having a husband, I run into the same problem. HA! I do attach them with binding clips to my pieces. I will show more about how I use them when I start the Mercantile Quilt Seeds blocks. :)

I love your doodle days idea!
I made my own out of card stock and alphabet stickers, 2 sets. Work great, no expense, just supplies I still have from my scrapbooking phase...
I love that you used what you had! Perfect!!
They would also make great gifts for your sewing friends.
It would definitely make an amazing gift for friends. :)

That’s a fabulous idea especially the embroidered tiles! Would love to be able to see how those look!
I haven't done shrinky dinks since I was a kid. I just went and bought some. Can't wait to make these.
It's so fun!!! Each time I use it I wonder why I haven't more.

I'm glad you liked it!
Somewhere in my crafting supplies, I have some! When I find this, I am totally doing this❤. I remember the smell, so it has to wait till spring.
HA!!! Yes... I didn't mention the smell, but it is very distinctive and not one that you forget. Thanks for watching and happy hunting. :)

Having two cats, if it doesn't attach to the fabric, they would be all over the floor and defeat the purpose.
