I sing and dance a lot in stores to keep my boys entertained 😆 I probably look crazy but it works! Books too or just letting them hold random things or put things in the cart to help mommy! I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old for age reference! Good luck, though. I know it's challenging!
Meal planning this is my system: try or add 1 new recipe a week and do favorite loved recipes cycling through. Like this week we are having burgers, rigatoni pasta, chicken w/ veggies, homemade pizza, leftovers + one new recipe to try! Also, do one meal a week your husband willing to cook if he can! It's so helpful. Like my husband will grill the burgers tonight lol

I probably get lots of crazy looks too since I’m almost constantly talking to him, or singing to him 😆 but it’s definitely hard to keep boys entertained lol
And I love those tips! I think I was a little too ambitious with all the recipes, and probably should narrow it down to just 1 or 2 next time. Also love the idea of the hubby having one night to cook too!

Meal planning felt overwhelming when I first started, but I love it now. I do not feel like I have to stick to it exactly and I cook enough to have several meals as leftovers because we don't mind eating lots of leftovers. That gives me days when I dont have to cook if things are crazy or i am not feeling well (same stage of life with a toddler and pregnant with our second).
Also, I dont always stick with an exact recipe. I leave stuff out if I cant find it or substitute something else I already have or like better. I feel like it helps me stick to a specific list and not buy a bunch of extras as well.
I also try to keep a list of our favorite meals, so when my brain feels too foggy to think of a meal plan, I have ideas ready.

I’ll definitely have to figure out what kind of meal plan works for me, because maybe just planning 1 or 2 meals a week would be less stressful for me 😂 I should start slower haha

Following the idea of liking crock pot meals, I prep them in the freezer all at once. The night before you can thaw them in the fridge and just dump it in the pot the day you want to eat it.

That’s such a cool idea! Never heard of it! This would be helpful for postpartum meal prepping!

I recently started meal planning so I could make more home cooked meals. On Sunday night I usually meal prep and figure out what ingredients I need for the recipes I use. I also account for leftovers for the next couple days. I like looking online and in cook books for recipes. I also have had staple meals I go back to that I cook often. - Janis

Definitely need to have more staple meals in my arsenal, I think that would be really helpful!

I’m sure you figured out this by now, but just rinse the artichokes! I use them often. Your meals sound so good!😋

I did end up rinsing and raining them, and I enjoyed the taste! So I’m glad it ended up working out! I’ll have to cook with them more often ☺️

My son hates being in the shopping cart and he’s 16 months old! I honestly only do big grocery shops by myself when my husband can watch him. During the week I just throw him in the stroller if I need to run into a store and I keep the shop small because if not he gets impatient. It’s a struggle especially with boys. When we were checking out at Walmart the other day I was literally shoving donut holes in Isaac’s hands trying to keep him content and I looked over and this little girl was sitting so still and quietly in her shopping cart. Boy mom struggles. 🤣
I think meal planning with kids is so hard. I used to be a hard core meal planner and I fell off in pregnancy. I also found meal planning in pregnancy hard because I never knew what I would feel like eating depending on the day. One tip I have is to do a loose meal plan. Instead of having a schedule with days I would write down meal ideas. I usually only cook two big meals a week because usually we will have leftovers. And then usually on Friday we do something easy like Frozen pizza, frozen chicken nuggets etc. Sometimes I don’t feel like I need to meal plan for the entire week because I’m usually in a grocery store twice a week because my toddler eats through our produce so fast. Great video! Anxious to hear your thoughts after your first week!

I agree!! Boys don’t like to be confined for long, so it’s definitely more of a struggle keeping them in the cart and entertained lol
Love these tips, and honestly that’s so true about pregnancy that I never factored in, sometimes food I planned a few days ago just does NOT sound good to me anymore 😂 I like the idea of having the loose meal plan! And I definitely was a bit too ambitious and planned too many meals for my first week, we ended up with leftovers up to our eyeballs 😆😆 (still eating leftovers from it 😂)

@@_KendraChristine it’s so easy to end up with too many leftovers when you cook a new meal everyday especially with just two people!

At 66yo couple we don't meal plan. I purchase items that we enjoy and try to keep readily ready when want, also purchase as much as possible when on sale or reduced. Also, a recipe I was once told is just a suggestion feel free to exchange for what you have on hand
