For this week’s giveaway, guess my bias in the group I mention in the video… this week there is only ONE answer!! CONGRATS TO LAST WEEK’S WINNERS! Please email me to get your prize!! Email in description of video :)
Great tips as always! Really appreciate your channel. As for your bias, my personal opinion is that Han has the strongest and most consistent stage presence, but since you highlighted dancing and Hyunjin is for sure the one with the most stage presence out of the dance line I'll go with him

Thanks for the video! I had a question though aren't the points about humanizing yourself and the activities list being used to determine your EC score kind of contradictory? (since I think 'humanizing yourself' would link more to a personal score not to your EC score - I might be very wrong here though lol)
Hey!! Yes let me explain haha that is a good catch. SO: the first admissions officer writes some basic notes for you in a little box that is then passed on to the next committee. That is where they might note that a certain applicant had to spend 10 hours a week caring for their sick parents or something like that. Then, when you get to the final committee, they look over everything once again. So that probably would not increase or decrease your EC score but would be considered at other steps in the application. Thanks for providing me the opportunity to clarify that. I hope that makes sense! It is all very confusing ha ha .
@@CollegeChingu Thanks for the clarification. That makes sense. I guess that then those notes about family commitments would eventually indirectly factor into a personal score but they wouldn't factor into that right off the bat as soon as the AO reads your activities list.
Past!! It may sound a bit odd but that is standard. You can do all in past tense then at the end add a section on ongoing work if it is really important for it to be present (for example for research; performed XYZ analysis, found BLA BLA BLA; now meeting with prof X times a week to continue research” or something !
Hi, thank you so much for the helpful video. I’m just curious, like you said other TH-camrs have suggested adding cute/funny anecdotes in the descriptions, and I’m inclined to go with your advice, but I was wondering how you are so sure that doing that would not be helpful.
THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION! So you are the second person to ask me about this. I think the cute/funny descriptions is a GREAT idea for activities you dont have much to say about. Often for family responsibilities, there just isn’t that much that needs to be communicated. In this situation, I think a more creative description is a great idea. however, for the other ones, and for MOST of them, they need to be informational. Save all your personality for the personal statement and supplemental activities section. Basically, you need to be as clear as possible when writing your EC list. Because they are going through and trying to understand what type of activities you did and how impressive they were. If they don’t really understand because the description is flowery/off topic/confusing, they won’t guess in your favor, if that makes sense. So definitely I would do that for the simpler ones (family responsibilities, sometimes service projects, etc.) but not in general and certainly not for all of them.
Hi! I have a quick question. First of all, I love your videos so thank you so much for that. Aside from that, I'm not completely sure what I want to go into but I enjoy policy, law, economics, business, and international relations. Something along the lines of that (I know that's a lot) but I was wondering how I could start to narrow down a major? Also, I recently got a paid job for something more Computer Science related but I don't know if that'll match the rest of my resume. Should I still list that as an activity or leave it out because I had another tutoring job before which maybe be more "humanizing" than a computer science job? But I'm also not sure because this is a job teaching coding to little kids, and my previous job was as a tutor, and as part of our debate team I'm also the head teaching policies and legislative decorum so maybe teaching could be a common theme throughout my app. Sorry I know it's a lot but I love your advice, its always so practical, so I wanted to hear your thoughts.
Oooh also I forgot to guess but I feel like it might be Han? I'm not sure because I'm not super into kpop myself but I always felt like he had the strongest stage presence and really knows how to lead. My fav personally would probably be Bang Chan but Han definitely exudes charisma the most in my opinion :)
@@vedikachamaria8514 definitely list the CS job! Agree re the rest of ur comment about theming/tying it all together. And thanks for guessing I’ll announce in the next video the winner :) :) bang chan is definitely one of my favorites as well I miss his lives so much. He is a great leader !!
hi! i hv a couple questions first of i rly want to go into the sciences but last year (freshman year) I got a B in biology will this look bad when i apply to colleges? second, is it bad that i do stuff unrelated to science and apply as a science major? I do youth+government and fbla which i can get a state board position but will my application not have a spike then because they are not related to the major I'm applying as and if so what should i apply as? i could also get involved with American cancer society and red cross. fyi i don't think will be applying to any ivy leagues (maybe just stanford as they don't look at freshman year grades)
@@CollegeChingu thank you!! also do you think i should take chem reg or honors next yr (everyone in my school says it’s hard and the teacher r unpredictable ) but since i want to into the science field should i push myself but i feel like it will ruin my gpa even more. i’ve one of ur vids where you said that uw gpa matters more and that it’s ok to reg classes but wdyt for my case? i appreciate it once again
@@anvikaboyina lowkey id probably take the normal one…. That is just my personal style though. It it’s important to see what others at your school who are successful do. It depends how badly you think you’d do in the advanced one. You might also take it and be surprisingly impressed with ur performance :) it is hard to say. Dont take anything that would stress u out too much
Thank you!!! Hmm honestly I like so many different types of music it is hard to say LOL but recently I saw Cavetown live in concert and it was soooooo much fun :) :) :)
Sorry if this comes off as rude, but I am genuinely curious. You firmly believe in not making any jokes in the description or adding personality, but I also saw multiple other you-tubers that were suggesting otherwise. So my question is, what makes you more credible than the other you-tubers I guess? Again, sorry if it sounds rude, I don’t know any other way to put it.
I understand what you’re getting at with your question- not rude at all! Nothing makes me more or less reputable inherently, other than the fact that I have less to gain from you following my advice than other TH-camrs since I am not trying to sell you a course or anything. Typically, TH-camrs put kind of ‘weird’ advice so that they seem different, so that you are tempted to buy their courses. I find that this incentivizes giving very strange advice rather than accurate advice. My approach is to use the personal essay sections to communicate personality rather than the activities descriptions. That is just my approach. There are many perspectives out there. I would just caution you, when considering who is better than others in giving advice, to consider who profits off of you taking their advice.
