One day those EVO's will become a collectors item, once they all figured out that the new crap is over engineered with all those onboard computers and TV screens.Congrats with the new ride Scotty.
Harley Davidson should give you a free bike brand new. You are the best ambassador for Harley Davidson in history. They should be ashamed and embarrassed that they haven’t come to you.
Or the worst ambassador, because he points out what pieces of crap they are! It’s funny how people buy these bike because “they can work on them” instead of buying a bike you never have to work on!
I've never seen a bike you don't have to work on. You ride them, and they eventually break. These old evos are about as good as they come and very easy to get parts
@@veiledallegory what fairytale world do you live in. A bike that never has to be worked on? Who makes it? I want one. Every manufacturer of bikes, cars, trucks, tractors, etc. have a service department. And their service departments are full of their respective products, in for repair.
Congrats!! I looked for a EVO Electra Glide like the Blue Mule. Got out bid every time . Ended up with a '10 Twin Cam. Love it. Cant wait to see the new one on the road.!!
I had that exact bike!! It was my first Harley. What a great bike, it never left me stranded or ever let me down. Just regular maintenance and she purred like a kitten. I had some great times riding that beautiful machine! Enjoy it!!
Congrats on the new bike! Looking forward to the "how to rip out the fuel injection and install a carbuerator on the side of the road in Mexico" video! 🤣 You know it's coming!
Howdy from Corpus Christi Texas once again. Its been awhile since I commented on your videos. Always enjoy them though. Congratulations on your new sled Scotty she's beautiful. Outstanding videos Always 👍 👍
I have a '95 (carbureted). Some other mods for you to consider: Aluminum backing plate for air cleaner to replace plastic air box. Better inner cam bearing. The headlight plug is black plastic and will melt. Can be replaced with a ceramic plug. I haven't had any heat problems but my carb is rejetted and I don't run my lower fairings.
6 grand is a fair price. I'm glad you shared the new ride and drilled into the warts it has. I enjoy real world bike reviews based upon tens if not hundreds of thousands of miles.
Awesome motorcycle, great year evo! Nice to find these bone stock barn finds, congrats! Great mods, looking forward to you swapping in a carb, imagine you'll go CV. Auction the Mule, she's been good to you, live simply
Great score, Scotty. I would say all fluids need to be changed. Fork oil, brake fluids, and primary engine oils just to be on the safe side. I agree, leave it stock. See you in August.
I am actually seeing your interview with "Back Waters and Back Roads" a Gem. Thank You! Greetings from Switzerland 1.June 22:00 (10 p.m.) 13°C , rainy Fabio
Congrats on the “new” bike. I believe’95 was the first year of the MM fuel injection. My current ride for the last 23 years is a ‘98 police edition road king with the MM fuel injection. I’m fully aware of the bad rap that the MM injection gets. One thing I have found, is that there is a mechanical aspect to this fuel injection system. Even though it’s fuel injection, it’s not a fly by wire like the newer Delphi systems. There is still a mechanical linkage that’s subject to looseness and slop that occurs through normal wear and tear. The manual says not to attempt to adjust the linkage. I found that anytime the bike has any issue with poor idle or sluggish performance under acceleration, was fixed simply adjusting the linkage until all slop and play and is removed. At 35,000 mi. I installed a EV27 cam, lifters, cam bearing upgrade, and adjustable pushrods. I also replaced the plastic breather gear with a stainless one. I also added a DFO which enhanced my throttle response. I now have 66,000 miles on it and she runs great! I did have a crank position sensor go out at about 50,000 miles. $130 and 1 hr labor (myself) and she was back on the road and has been running great since. The MM fuel injection gets a bad rap, but so far, I love mine. Of course, just like everything else that’s old, parts are getting scarce. Good luck with your “new” ride. Just remember that any mods you do ie; pipes, cam, and etc. will require some tuning. Happy trails!
have a 97 Ultra ,replaced the head temp sensor ,after it kept stalling and the red trouble light coming on ,I like how it starts first go ,unlike the carbed FXD which takes a bit more .......cajoling
Auction that bike man, I betcha there will be a LOT of people who would love to have it because they've been following you and would give it a good home while supplying you with finds for the road
Congrats on the new (used) bike! What a beauty. If anyone deserves this one, it's you. Because you will use the bike as it's intended to be used. Put it through its paces, ride the heck out of it, partner!
Your new motorcycle has set a long time. You may want to look down into the gas tank for possible rust problems like crusty filter. Also, check cables for corrosion.
The Mule needs to be in a museum; there are numerous, but surely you'd know the right one. I needed this inspiration. My dad is in his last days and we are just sitting around waiting. I was looking for inspiration on YT and found you... right on time. Thank you for sharing. Sending positive vibes your way. Take care.
Glad you made this video Scotty...you made it very interesting and informative. Yes, I think the idea of auctioning off the "Mule" is a great idea...lots of history in that bike. Best of luck with the new HD.
Congratulations on the new to you bike man! I definitely enjoyed this video. Maybe sign then auction off the mule for $ 5 an entry. I'm sure enough people would be interested. Just a suggestion.
Congratulations on the new ride. Looks like a good find. I bought my 07 Deuce about four years ago with only 6900 miles! Got 40K on it now still running strong. Blue mule belongs in a museum someday. Should talk to the place in. Deadwood
Scotty - i just picked up a 25k mile all original (down to the factory air cleaner box and mufflers) super well cared for ‘97 FLH. Guy in Pennsylvania was the second owner and had it since 2010. Old fella was starting to feel bike was too big for him at his age. Drove up from Hickory, NC this weekend past and brought her home. It is the Std FLH which is carbureted.
Blue Mule is now getting to retire, she did good all the way long, so long Blue! Red strike is going to be very afraid of what will happen in her life, she thought to be an Icon of the past , revered like a Goddess, in her clean temple, never brutalized or pushed on some weird roads...well Baby doll, now you got to have a new lover, who doesn't mind to ride you far and hard.. good luck Scotty, this is another chapter, but Old Betsy will forever stay your favorite Mistress!
Great bike, Scotty! Some rubber seals can be deteriorated (hardened), because of age. I have this issue on a similar story with a ‘81 BMW, which runs like new.
your old blue bike needs to be in a museum!
Cheers
Congrats Scotty,, another 30 years of riding for ya Now!!
One day those EVO's will become a collectors item, once they all figured out that the new crap is over engineered with all those onboard computers and TV screens.Congrats with the new ride Scotty.

He wouldn't take a new one unless they built him a brand new evo
He would trade it for 3 used one!

Congratulations Scotty!
The bike made it 29 years completely unmolested….until Scotty got ahold of it.
Been waiting for this video!
The blue mule belongs in a museum along side Adam Sandoval old war horse
I'd like to see a video doing a walkaround of Adam's old bike in detail.
Auction sounds like a.real goodi idea
Yep a piece of nostalgia right there
I'd think a motorcycle museum would be a great place for your old bike, like Wheels Through Time. That bike has history.
Congrats!! I looked for a EVO Electra Glide like the Blue Mule. Got out bid every time . Ended up with a '10 Twin Cam. Love it. Cant wait to see the new one on the road.!!

I'm STILL enjoying my '95 Classic (carbed). Just can't scream across the country at 95-100. Well, you could but it would be miserable.
Beautiful bike. That’s the way to go. Evo motors are great.
Nice bike, thanks for always sharing an adventure great video be safe.
I agree. Harley should give you a bike or some freebies. Definitely motivating me to get one. 😁 I think the auction is a good idea.
Sweet!
Scotty, you are an inspiration. Your vids have helped so many riders.
NICE BIKE! Get some LED headlights and turn signals. they use a fraction of the power and last FOREVER ! and are extremely bright.
Congrats on the new bike! Looking forward to the "how to rip out the fuel injection and install a carbuerator on the side of the road in Mexico" video! 🤣 You know it's coming!
For now, I'm just gonna carry a few extra, used, injector parts. Maybe a carb some day.
That beauty will finally get the life she deserves. May she bring you thousands of safe miles!
I watch all your videos Scotty, and this was my favorite!
That ‘95, what a find! Good going 👍
Congratulations you deserve it, hope it takes you lots of miles, Ship it to Sturgis where you sell your book and raffle it off and sign it.

Howdy from Corpus Christi Texas once again. Its been awhile since I commented on your videos. Always enjoy them though. Congratulations on your new sled Scotty she's beautiful. Outstanding videos Always 👍 👍

I haven't had any heat problems but my carb is rejetted and I don't run my lower fairings.
The benefits of knowing every nut and bolt, stay with what you know, keep it simple. Best of luck with the new bike scotty. Enjoy your adventures.😊
Nice new horse Scotty. I still ride a 96 Evo. Have fun with it.

I think it needs to go to wheels through time museum.
Yes!!!
Great idea, that way you can visit her whenever you want Scotty
A semi-pro drag racer/engineer/mechanic once told me something I will never forget: "Stock is Trick!"
I like it.
Beautiful bike scotty...congrats man!, you deserve it brother. Cant wait to see what you do with this and the adventures you take it on!...
Wow, man. What a score. Hope it gives you thousands of miles of happiness.

EVO is the best motor Harley ever made.
Never should have discontinued them. Engineers gonna engineer though.
Your new motorcycle has set a long time. You may want to look down into the gas tank for possible rust problems like crusty filter. Also, check cables for corrosion.

Cool Beans video ... good luck with the new ride !

Beauty Barn find 🙌 hyperthetically speaking..you are definitely a lucky charm ✨️
Congratulations, great score. I'm happy for you. Guess I'm going to have to get you a new sticker.
You should park the old bike inside Wall Drug if they'd let you or maybe one of the bars in Sturgis. A lot of people would appreciate seeing it.
That's an awesome idea! ❤ Maybe the Full Throttle Saloon or Buffalo Chip?
@@TurnipGreen GREAT IDEA
Love it man, I’m riding out in the morning half way across Canada on a 1986. That bike looks like it’s got lots of life left in it.
