Same. As a kid I had so many ideas of how I would decorate my room as an adult. Now I can’t because everything is ugly and cheaply made, yet expensive. I’ve managed to still carve out my own style, despite the modern era-but even then, it’s still hard to find things that are of decent enough quality to be worth buying. Fast fashion has so thoroughly infected every aspect of daily life that items anywhere from 5-20 years ago are now considered “vintage”. It goes so much deeper than aesthetics, but I hate this world we live in.

It's all advertising. Those in charge of making the design....were basically just advertising to you to sell products and ideas.
And now the marketers are moving on to the next advertising design to target the next generation.
And this will go on and on and on....

I know a lot of people say it’s a 2000s aesthetic but I’d say a good part of it lasted until about mid-2014. After iOS 7 came out, we slowly changed from this to much more simplified logos/designs.

As someone who grew up during that period, I will say this: It went too far. I love a good balance, but with the oversimplified logos and just everything looking... god forbid i use this word, bland. I just feel even more obligated to wonder what went wrong. Like why tf are we having such anti consumer decisions left and right, it really does eventually give you a stigma of the worst moves and most corporate entites with the aesthetic of oversimplification. It not only made the world look ugly, but made everything feel samey. I want to go back to when everything had a meaning and purpose that wasn't just "MONEY" which while being a tale older than time, is especially true nowadays. I missed when they atleast tried to look hopeful. This oversimplification bullshit is not helping anyone and is only going to net short term gains instead of actually making a distinctive look and feel for the decade WITH the new trends. That's why the 2020s have failed when it came to aesthetic nostalgia, because we are no longer trying anything new to mix everything up, and it's a symptom of the pandemic. Even beforehand, 2019 began to make everything get worst, and now we are at a bottom. But there is hope as the world recovers, and moves such as the reestablishment of some logos and a much more artsy direction with many companies.
Or maybe, I am too old and I had a short childhood. Oh well.

There are obviously still people who live by this aesthetic who mentally have never left the 2000s. I personally have computers with Windows XP AND windows 7 and I'm thinking of abandoning my Redmi and switching to an older phone. I listen to mostly late 1990s and 2000s music (mainly techno, trance and the occasional 2005 Nickelback or Avril Lavigne song) on CDs and tapes, mp3, iPod. I dress up in colorful clothes and most importantly, I'm free spirited and I touch grass. People these days spend too much time locked into a facade of bleak, flat, soulless, Corporate grey depression. If more people realized we fucked up we could turn back time, get together and destroy modern corporatism and get back to the good old times of frutiger aero and frutiger metro.
