Huge props to Johan for, well, being Johan but in particular for taking in refugees during this time. He's a good man in addition to being a badass dude. I wish I could see y'all play together.
Very, very cool Interview!!! Saw AA back in 1998 here in Stuttgart, Germany in a small Club! Amazing, how a awesome career they had til today!!! And thanks to Michael Trengert for all his work in Metal here in Germany! I talked to him once, what a nice person he was (RIP Dude!)!!! Cheers from Stuttgart, Germany!
Love me Amon Amarth! Damn, I just love hearing the stories of my favorite band members struggling with obstacles before and during their band years! This is why I keep coming back to your podcast Robb!
This is awesome!!!!!!!! I'm obsessed with these guys and their viking history, all things vikings I love it!! Great down to earth humble metal heads you both are, big respect xx
I’m waiting for Vikings and Lionhearts in Poland (in my case more for Lionhearts😉)🤘🔥☠️🖤 I hope that the situation in Europe will be stable…🙏 And so far I listen to CHØKE all the time!🔥🔥🔥
@No F'n Regrets This is easily one of the best interviews I've ever seen. Great questions, deep answers, awesome conversation. From funny to sad, from thoughtful to joking - man, I enjoyed every minute of it. And no f'n regrets that i only found out about this just yesterday. I still remember this awsome concert of Amon Amarth, Machine Head and The Halo Effect in Oberhausen in 2022. You have to tour again together in the next years for sure. This package has been nuts and would still be in the times to come!
Can’t wait to see you guys live 🤘🏻 I’ll be honest, I’m not massively into the Amon Amarth sound and image, but I respect them as musicians. Great interview as usual Robb.
@@bigwill7940 I am sure their crowds and gigs are awesome. Their music just doesn’t do anything for me. But that doesn’t make the music bad. I don’t have any problem with them. They are clearly talented. Just not aligned to my tastes that’s all.
Just found your PODCAST/TH-cam videos and I am sold. You are a awesome interviewer and funny and your guest are awesome to listen to, real life uncutted material. Love it and respect man! And ive saw you in December last year, touring EU with Amon Amart and The Halo Effect.. awesome show (Hamburg, Germany).
July 10th, 2013. MAYHEM FEST, Toronto, Canada. I saw you guys and Amon Amarth on my 18th BIRTHDAY!!! It was my 2nd time seeing you guys and was awesome despite you guys being on the smaller stage and only getting to play 6-7 songs. Still a very kickass show and birthday!!!
I think Priest would be bigger if they did not release Turbo and Ram it down. But something better and more glorious in the hey days when Maiden released epic albums like Somewhere in time and Seventh son. If for example Painkiller came in 86 the story would maybe be different.
Seen Amon Amarth in Cardiff years ago. My favourite song by them is Death In Fire. Machine Head favourite is Imperium, every time I listen to it and it gets to "HEAR ME NOW" I instantly start head banging hard (even at 34 years old which probably isn't a good idea anymore after over 20 years of head banging lol). Hoping to get tickets for the show in Cardiff in September. Loving the new MH song 🤘🤘🏴
Fun story, John Lennon did not like his voice, for ‘ Twist and shout’ his voice was tired from a long recording day, but they pressed it . I happen to like his voice rough, it is one of my favorite songs too.
I looked through all the episodes of NFR, and didn’t see Mikael Åkerfeldt anywhere. By the way, that Hell and Heaven concert right at the beginning of the pandemic was awesome. 🤘🏽
Hey, how tall is Johan? Cause i've seen anywhere from 6'1-6'6. I think he's gotta be around 6'5. Does anyone know? No guesses. I need a confirmed answer.
I would love to see this tour in Australia!! Rob you owe us a gig or 2!! Hahahahahaha keep up the fucking sic work my bro!! Can't wait for August 26!!!!
All the "Greats" have a pinball machine made after them. Example, Iron Maiden, Metallica, GnR, Rolling Stones, Rush, ect. No Judas Priest pinball yet........ Can't wait for the MH one! 🤘💪👍
Nice, it was cool at the end talking about personal stuff like death of a friend. I have a strong friend from my childhood that died with no teeth in his mouth. But its all good.
I think the reason why Maiden are doing biggwr things than Priest is purely down to there only being one throne at the top. Maiden are just god like and the fan base is a worldwide cult. They play countries Priest wouldn’t even dare to think of. Both kings but there can only one at the top.
You really are on fire Robb! I would like to request a few musicians if that's okay? I think getting Krist Novoselic (ex bassist of Nirvana and current bassist of Giants in the Trees). Krist would get you a ton of attention/views/subs. Also, Mike IX Williams or Jimmy Bower of New Orleans Sludge Metal band EyeHateGod. That'd be a really great podcast! Anyway, thanks for these podcasts, they are really fun to watch and listen to! 🤘🏼🤘🏼💥🔥🔥🔥🎸😎🚬👿👹👺⚰️
@@llm4187 Are you kidding? In interviews he's always been funny, intelligent and can talk about most of anything. Sure, he's older and a little more laid back but he still makes for a fantastic interview/podcast. Talking about the old Nirvana/Kurt Cobain/Seattle music scene days to his new band and everything in between it'd make for a hell of a podcast. It's just an idea though.
@@llm4187 You mean you've seen him in other interviews since not being in Nirvana? I have too and like I said he's more laid back but that's understandable after what happened to his close friend Kurt Cobain. Also, as we age and go through life we tend to calm down and think a bit more before speaking. He also quit drinking alcohol which makes a big difference to most people. I still think he'd make for an awesome interview.
Hi Robb. There should be no mystery to why Iron Maiden draws more than Judas Priest in the 2020s. Iron Maiden has strategically built a multi-generational fan base. Priest may draw as many 40-60 year old fans, but Maiden pulls 2-3 generations of fans. Watch the band docs for Rush, Pearl Jam, and Iron Maiden. There is a common feel across the three; their fans come across as extended family. I think Steve Harris is the key. You and Johan talked about the lead singers of both bands taking time away, but Iron Maiden is driven by Harris who never left. I have seen Harris’ daughter’s and son’s bands open for them at different times. This reinforces the strategy, while extending the reach beyond only Maiden.
Rob flynn!!! What do yall play 6 hour sets??? Lol. Thats metal as fuck. I only like burn my eyes /tmtchange. And blackening. But those 3 records are incredible. And. Your work ethic makes up for your weaker albums lol. Respect!!!!
I absolutely fucking love Amon Amarth till my death but I'm still not getting into the Berserker album. The guitars are not as heavy. Are the guys looking to change their sound??? I really hope not.
Oh, we were a few girls around the death metal scene and on concerts back in the day in stockholm. Remember one of the boys around whining that "girls shouldn't be allowed ro listen to this music, it's for boys!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hopefully Exodus & Amon Amarth with a bunch of kickass bands do a charity gig in Ukraine 🇺🇦 after the wars over. Great show y’all. And like you said it got deep. Ballz deep 😅 See U on the road.

Just when I thought I has reached max excitement for the London show this year. Cannot fucking wait!

I also lost a friend this year whom had no teeth left. Copd. Dead at 46. Yup smh. Whiskey and marlboros since 13. To mike mccabe. A philly legend

See u in Ireland 🇮🇪.
Johan has an American accent vs the rest of the band that have the Swedish accent.....why is that?
Priest vs. Maiden? I don’t like to compare art, I never had a deep connection with Maiden, Priest for sure.
