  • A collection of Ian Rush's goals for Liverpool from 1988, when he returned from Juventus, until 1996, when he left to join Leeds United. In this period, Rushie scored 139 goals in competitive matches. 138 of these are here, plus one in a penalty shoot-out. The missing goal is his last for Liverpool, against Manchester City in May 1996. Footage of this goal was blocked by the Premier League.
Most of these goals come from Liverpool season review videos, but thanks to the following youtube channels for preserving and uploading footage of the goals that were missing from the 1992/93 video:

Ian Rush is right up there with one of the best finishers ever, in any era. I don't think I've seen anyone better running off the ball into space where the ball would inevitably would come, where he would do the rest and make it look so easy. Of course he needed creative players to set him up and putting him in goal scoring positions; he was playing in the best team at that time. Yes, he had the creative genius of John Barnes, but also the likes of players who could read the game brilliantly and make that telling pass especially Peter Beardsley and Jan Molby

Best finisher I've ever seen. Really can't believe about His Instinct... 👏👏👏👍👍👍
    It turns out,
before Steven Gerrard, Liverpool had an extraordinary star.
You know, I was born and knew football in the golden age of Steven Gerrard. And Steven Gerrard is one of the reasons I love the game of football. 🙏🙏🙏

The passage of play around 26:00 starting with Grobelaars throw and ending with an outside of the foot Venison pass and Rush finish both of those being football that's of the highest quality and as deft/slick as it gets.
Does anyone remember Socrates and Zicos creation in the World Cup of 1982 against Italy was that any better?

I vaguely remember buying an old VHS tape of Rush's goals - something like 501, I seem to recall there were a few similar videos for Rush. I'm not even a Liverpool fan and the guy is a legend.

I worked with an ex referee..in Nottingham...we all asked him one day who was the best player he had Been on a field with after a few guesses Romario, Dalglish, Buetegueno etc he said Nope ...Ian Rush !!!! .... He had everything was the guys answer ... he said he had never seen a player that could be out n out Striker lightning quick n also do the back to goal CF both to a world class level n could defend , pass , tackle n Finish from any angle with both feet ...Give me Rushy over anyone he said
We all sat stunned tbh but when he told us of a few of his experiences on the field with him you could see what he meant
