In my quest for trying to build a DIY aquaponics I can across your video, man did you really help me to figure out some plumbing issues with this short video! Thanks so much for the useful information!
Might be a good option for a few buckets for water changes. I have had enpugh with the lift method. Lifting 20 gallons a week 6ft high gets a little tiring. Its between that and i just found a new kind of pump that attached to any drill pretty cool
I want to drill a hole in my 5-gallon Home Depot bucket. Then attach either a bulkhead or uniseal device, and run a 1/2" (Inside Diameter) clear tube to a drain. This is for a DIY boiler neutralizer. The 1/2" (inside diameter) tubing seems like it wouldn't seal correctly using a uniseal since it's not a stiff material. Is the bulkhead device my best bet?
Las MiLLpass it depends what you cut a 1" hole in, glass? acrylic? plastic barrel? you might find a 1/2" bulkhead which could fit a 1-1/8" hole, but typically you buy the bulkhead fitting before you drill the hole
I got my Uniseal and it fit's fine, I like to know if I can install it from the inside of my tank not from the out side, and then push the pvc pipe in the Uniseal from the inside of the tank??? Will it still not leek???? I really need to know, please come back and help me with this. Thanks.
as far as i can tell, uniseals work best when installed on the convex side of a curved surface, flat surfaces should be fine to install from either side, pipe can only be pushed through in one direction. Again, I strongly advise against using a uniseal on a glass aquarium, you will put stress on the glass and crack the tank - second warning!
THANKS AGAIN I SENT THIS EMAIL BEFORE I READ YOUR "DON'T USE IT" EMAIL. I HAVE 2-H/D-BULKHEADS ON ORDER AND I WILL BE USING THEM NOT THE UNISEAL. I NEED THE UNISEAL FOR MY OUT SIDE WATERING TANKS ANYWAY. THANK AGAIN TANK BUDDY. LOOK FOR MY VIDEO ON "THE BIG TANK" IT WILL BE DONE SOME TIME THIS MONTH or NEXT.
Hi; I HAVE A Uniseal ON ORDER IT WILL BE USED FOR MY 125 Gal. ALL GLASS TANK. DO THESE Uniseals WORK ON FLAT GLASS AS WELL??? AND WHEN A PVC PIPE IS PUT IN TO IT, DO I HAVE TO PUSH IT IN TO WHERE I CAN SEE IT COME INTO THE TANK??? or NOT??? I WAS TOLD TO USE RUBBING ALCCHOL ON THE PVC PIPE BEFORE INSTALLING IT. NOT WINDOW CLEANER, ALCOHOL IS SAFER FOR FISH. ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WANT I WANT TO KNOW????? LET ME KNOW...
Uniseals DO NOT work on glass tanks. DO NOT put a uniseal into a glass hole as the uniseal EXPANDS and will CRACK the glass when you push the pvc pipe through. Use a bulkhead for glass and acrylic aquariums, and save the Uniseals for plastic barrels!!!!

Exactly what I needed to know! (Then again, I'm not using it for an aquarium, just drainage) Thank you for this short blurb!
I have a 3 1/8 inch hole. Would the 2 inch Uniseal work? The shower drain I used required 3 1/8 inch hole.
I got mine from Bulkreefsupply, the price probably wasn't the lowest, but you earn points towards discounts and the shipping is quick and fair

Should the hole saw be one size smaller?
Yep, I learned this just now... This evening, I tried to use a bulkhead on a barrel and hurt myself.. Plus, I had to buy many adapters.
Smh.
but what is the psi for these? want to make a canister filter that of course will have pressure...
This helped, thanks.
Great video explanation/demonstration!! Will you be doing a how to on the skippy?
Thanks, great info.
Can i use grommet instead uniseal?
The unseal will dry out and split over time I am trying the bulk head seal I hope I get longer lasting seal !

dkalata you need to use sch 40 PVC with a uniseal, so it sounds like you want a bulkhead and a threadxbarbbed fitting
Thanks Greg! I was thinking the same, but wanted to make sure I understood the application correctly. Appreciate your fast response - and great video!
I need to go thought a 2" thick Pond wall with a liner could this be used ?
the gasket isn't 2" thick, so it wouldn't work, i would recommend using a traditional bulkhead that has a longer neck
i've thought about it, but it seems like one part you don't want to skimp on, don't you think?
Greg please help me. I drilled a 1" hole what size bulkhead do I need? Or what else can I use??? Help

Greg Jones well it was my first time and i messd up, i drilled glass
Las MiLLpass buy the smallest bulkhead you can find, or silicone a pane of patch glass over the hole
where can I buy these at? would home Depot have them?
+Eric Smith jehmco
if i want to seal a hole in my drilled aquarium for my turtles do i use a bulkhead or do i need a plug
+Kevin Lin uniseals don't work on glass as it would shatter, use a bulkhead, teflon tape, and a threaded pvc cap/plug

yeah man! i just need to find some 55 gallon barrels for cheap!
You should make a video of you make a diy bulk head

Thank you O-so much!!!! This is very good of you to tell me this. I will not us the Uniseal and I will get a Bulkhead.
