I think my favorite thing about the Basecamp is that its pretty much a scx24 deadbolt with a different body at the same price and that no one realize its the same truck with different body

Now everyone wants oil shocks. This isn’t a $300 truck. It’s an entry level truck that crawls quite well. It looks good and can accept any scx upgrade. It does have the newer and much better electronics. So it’s some better than a deadbolt because they still run the v1 electronics and smaller motor. It will sell very well imo.
Great little truck and like the tenth-scale Base Camp - a good price and a platform with tons of potential. I'd really like to see an updated chassis though, maybe a carbon, comp-style chassis? And, Axial has got to get with the times and start including oil filled shocks with all their releases! 🤷🏻♂️ That being said, great price for guys wanting a project build where they are going to replace most of the parts, anyways!
I use to salvage the licensed bodies and light kits from the scx24 RTRs that I had. This doesn't even have that. I don't like the body but if I did I would just buy the body.
I own the Range Rover. The base camp is definitely more formidable because it has better ground clearance with bigger tires. The Base Camp is not as “tippy” because the RR has a lot of scale look, with looks come higher center of gravity. So performance wise, Base Camp will do well but I do think the oil filled shocks and drive train of RR make it very capable.
To get the cost down for this "canvas" they used the unlicensed body, and the older cheaper shocks. Im not sure why they used the falken tires and black rhino wheels. Now, just offer a kit with no tires or wheels, no as1 servo, and they can keep the 88t motor. At a decent price i would love a kit.
Yeah, I think the goal was to appeal to a younger or less experienced market while giving hardcore guys a cheaper platform to build on, since you'll replace all those parts anyways.
Not trying to be a dick here , genuinely interested , what 1/10 scales would you suggest ? If someone is looking at 1/24 because around 100 bucks is what their budget allows then doubling or even tripling that budget to get into comparable quality 1/10 scale territory is a helluva stretch.

They are targeting a different buyer. New/younger drivers or people that want to build off of the platform. Pretty smart marketing…specially now that it’s close to the holidays 🤷🏻♂️.
The front and rear links are actually different lengths on most models as well as wheel size. When you're driving the stock c10 and deadbolt they feel very different. Plus the newer 3 models before this actually have oil shocks. This is meant to be a basic bare bones model to keep the price down.
@@brendanmilborne7049 but still compared to everything else on the market at this price range it doesnt come close. the ascent18 is 120 and has oil shock, portals, sealed bearings and metal gears. axial out the box is toy grade compared to everything else right now for around a hundred dollar rtr.
