Decent analysis. As an older skater (25+ years of skating), I've found many friends my age enjoy GH shit talking because it most closely aligns with how we really feel and there's nobody in our age bracket willing to take those risks. Also, ever since my mom kicked me off her Hulu account, I've stepped up an an adult and I used my own credit card to pay for his Patreon channel thank you very much.
Nice video, I think the skating community craves someone like gifted hater to give people accountability rather then the rug sweeping we have seen for a long time. I hope in his success he will still manage to stay objective which he seems to being a good job of so far. Also those projected income numbers are always way off. Especially due to TH-cam shorts. I have never made 4k+ ad revenue a month in my life haha. I think John's numbers are also inflated with some of his shorts getting millions of views recently. I cant speak for back in the glory days but John is definitely not making 30k ad rev a month in 2023
love the analytic aspect of your vid but there is just one thing most of skateboarding youtube doesn’t seem to get. GH is just fucking hilarious and the way he combines proper opinions with the most memed out humour is, not only in skateboarding, entertainment masterclass
GH showed us what's possible with nothing more than a webcam, some simple desktop research, and the everyman's bullshit detector. Lately he doesn't seem as hungry, but he's even kind of admitted that in recent videos. At worst, he is now an outsider's insider, but I still click on his uploads faster than anyone else's.
I remember watching yt skate videos or contests and sometimes finding myself questioning something or criticizing something. I'd then look in the comments and everybody praises everything. Then I watch a gifted hater video where he calls stuff like that out and voices it because he has a voice. Like with Andrew Cannon I watched the contest first thinking this guy is annoying af and then gifted hater bashed on it a week later. That's the void he fills for me. Probably some others as well 🤤
That is so true. A lot of skate viewers love to wagon hitch. Imagine someone finding themself questioning or critisizing something about GH's "street part" and scrolling through these comments.
Nice vid. Yeah GH works I think because he stands out in contrast to the constantly happy, constantly positive TH-cam skate community at large. When every big TH-camr has their own setup video, "basic tricks" video, ect he is a breath of fresh air. Skateboarding (for many people) has an element of bucking authority, and GH brings it.

Another key point you didn’t address is patreon takes upward of 12% or more on earnings. Just to be more accurate on data. Ha also factor taxes on earnings as well on all platforms. For a single guy in his 20’s with no real responsibility he’s living hood rich.
The difference between gifted and other skate TH-camrs is this, if I see a John hill video, I might watch it, but I’ll go check to see if gifted posted just cause I want to see what’s he’s Gona say next. Having a well thought out, well explained opinion on things in skating is just so rare.
Thats awesome. Gifted, if you read this: buy a small app and be very carefull with the money. You never know when shtf and you get ill. I know, all of a sudden, 4 months ago, my bowels ended up in my right scrotum.. i wouldnt give my worst enemy the pains ive had. I got operated 6 weeks ago and i still struggle with complications after the surgery :( Been basically bedtidden this entire time. Feels like ive been sick for years. Time goes sooo slow.
hang in there, brother. your words are a gift to us here, and that’s worth a lot. for your attitude and willingness to share alone, you have my admiration and gratitude I won’t bother trying to compare life experiences because that’s personal and we just met, but I spent some time in a state I’ll just call “conscious but physically immobile” during a climb out of a health situation that lasted longer than I’d like …and my biggest regret looking back on those months (not a big one but life is short) was that I didn’t make use of them doing all the stuff I still wish I did more of, and could do from bed. I wished I’d always had a notebook or a binder, that I’d continued my plans and schemes and strategies and imaginations and random notes to self. I saw it as a time I was unable to be active, because a lot of the things I saw as activity involved not being in bed or eventually on the couch or in a chair, but there was so much progress into stuff important to me that I didn’t do, watching tv and wallowing in my whatever, thinking I was waiting for life to be available again. I’m not saying this is you of course. You have a great attitude and I’m famously slow when it comes to knowing how to let myself have everything I want. I just wanted to remind anyone and everyone bedridden that there’s a unique opportunity for certain kinds of productivity when physical freedom is taken from us. story A lot of people think of Bruce Lee as an action movie star, and don’t realize that he was a martial artist who revolutionized martial art in both the western and eastern worlds, leading to developments considered obvious today that would have been inconceivable before him. His look at developmental process transcended systems and fields, and continues to facilitate evolution of different activities. Anyhoo, Lee broke his back, and they told him he’d never walk again (bummer especially if you’re that guy). So he laid in bed in the hospital for months, worked obsessively on what we’d call physical therapy, and wrote the backbones of 4 books, one of which would go on to be published as the seminal work The Tao of Jeet Kune Do. From bed, where they said he’d spend the rest of his life. Of course he recovered seemingly miraculously and walked again and trained again and eventually recovered completely, but the point is that what he got done while bedridden is still with us to this day. Anyway, it’s just a thought :) All our love and best wishes to you, your bowels, your scrotum, and your next steps forward being your articulate and caring self. Love, all of us
Oh and good job dumb data! I liked your opinion. I like gifted hater a lot. You and him are the ONLY two skateboard TH-cam channels I watch now besides the odd 9club clip, and I thought this video was honest, well put and your points were all valid. As if you need my validity 😂. I guess what I’m trying to say is…… Good job 👏
Yeah, that would frustrate me so much that i would work out my legs until i could have good pop. When i skate, pop was the most important factor in my opinion. I was happiest when i could pop as high as i could off of things and catch my board at the peak of my jump. Nothing felt better than that.
Lol i RESENT that my comment was shown as the casual berrics viewer...i hate them but that ribeiro vs felipe was the best content they put out in a long time
yeah, they make almost* nothing worth watching anymore, but that series was excellent. (I’ll admit I’m also interested in the occasional look at whether someone can do a 26mph bigheel or whatever)
I'll start this off with. You are my favorite TH-cam channel for skateboarding content. With that being said gifted hater also caught my attention when he had a much smaller channel like yours so I've always liked his brutal honesty. He gives his opinion and doesn't care about the backlash about it. But fuck all that you need to drop some videos about batb 13 I need to know the numbers behind every batb 13 game. Please 🙏
Be it the perspective of the older generation, the current generation, people with nothing to lose, and people with something to lose, it's all biased opinions being served rather than objective truth. So there's really room for all types and I think that's why we never see one to rule them all.
Great stuff DD. It's all very entertaining. The ironic street part clearly made his viewers the punch line of his joke. Funny indeed but the shift going from laughing with to laughing at his audience will be a test.
He very clearly stated in a recent patreon video that his part was in no way meant to be ironic. I’m actually curious why people are thinking that, is it because of the music?
@@dadboard "In no way ironic?" LOL 🤣The music, the filming, production wise it's a parody of wack skate parts. You think that is unintentional? Dude rips, knows what a dope part is and has access to whatever he needs. If he was trying to do something seriously good it would not look or sound like that.
@@RealSkateStories 😬 yeah dude he pretty much negates that entire comment you just made on his recent patreon video. Believe it or not, people actually _like_ shit you may consider wack 🤷♂️ I thought the song was dope as well as the trick selection, not really much to argue about or debate since everything we’re discussing is totally subjective. Take care ✌️
@@dadboard Agree with you about the trick selection, dude rips. Also about the subjective nature of music. However him dropping disclaimers after the fact negates nothing.
i'm like 30 years old and think he's hilarious. in my opinion skateboarding needs a menace if he ever crosses the line and does some weird shit then i'll abandon him but for now, it's just crass humor that i appreciate
Sometimes we need someone that's not afraid to call people out on weird or cringe things and just accept the backlash. And he does it in a way that reminds me of just talking shit with between friends. Yeah he goes a bit hard whenever it comes to berrics but I think we're all a little disappointed on how that channel has become in the last couple years. Also, I didn't even know he was actually good at skating until he released that part recently. I didn't care about skill because it was never about his own skating and he was obviously knowledgeable about it. For example, I don't need to know how to do crazy flip tricks down a 10 stair to know that Jeff DeChesare's tricks have zero pop and look ugly.
his growth is nuts. Homie gets namedropped in thrasher magazine every issue now. I love him . Everyone is too friendly nowadays gotta call out some of the bbullshit
he filled in the void that the original feedback left (and to a certain degree love letters or big brother to go back even eralier), f'yeah for free speech and controversy, it is essential to skating. without that, it is just another sport / street fashion show. I'm actually hoping to see another creator who is even more brutally honest and merciless.
On the spectrum of hecklers in skateboarding Joa is on the bright side. He’s funny, lighthearted and disses basically everyone rather than always sparing the cool guys. In the history of skateboarding there have always been hecklers and many times there have been real life “daggers” (see thrashin’, eighties skate movie), meat head hecklers who are stupid and nowhere near as entertaining as gifted hater.
Same. I searched for it everywhere. Usually they put stuff like that on their clip channel but it's not there. It looks like his part came out like 2 weeks ago so MAYBE they will put it on their clip channel. It's got to be in one of the episodes in the last 2 weeks though.
Love giftedhater. Half the fun of skating is shit talking and even better with ammo to back it and make it actually entertaining BTW while we on shit talking, when was the last time ninjalifestyle skated the streets and put out a street part? Asking for a friend.
im sorry if im getting something wrong but theres no way john hill did 6 mil views over the last 30 days. If you add his views from these past 30 day videos you get something like 250.000
I gotta say, GIfted Hater became easily one of my favorite youtubers ever literally within his first few uploads. I was just stoked someone finally came out and said what a lot of us were already thinking and I was happy there's still people who care about the real. Sure I don't agree with everything he says, but he definitely shares a lot of the same opinions I had already so I felt like I could relate to him a lot

I got operated 6 weeks ago and i still struggle with complications after the surgery :(
Been basically bedtidden this entire time. Feels like ive been sick for years. Time goes sooo slow.
Bro that’s me too
😱
hang in there, brother. your words are a gift to us here, and that’s worth a lot. for your attitude and willingness to share alone, you have my admiration and gratitude
I won’t bother trying to compare life experiences because that’s personal and we just met, but I spent some time in a state I’ll just call “conscious but physically immobile” during a climb out of a health situation that lasted longer than I’d like
…and my biggest regret looking back on those months (not a big one but life is short) was that I didn’t make use of them doing all the stuff I still wish I did more of, and could do from bed.
I just wanted to remind anyone and everyone bedridden that there’s a unique opportunity for certain kinds of productivity when physical freedom is taken from us.
story
A lot of people think of Bruce Lee as an action movie star, and don’t realize that he was a martial artist who revolutionized martial art in both the western and eastern worlds, leading to developments considered obvious today that would have been inconceivable before him.
Of course he recovered seemingly miraculously and walked again and trained again and eventually recovered completely, but the point is that what he got done while bedridden is still
with us to this day.
Anyway, it’s just a thought :)
All our love and best wishes to you, your bowels, your scrotum, and your next steps forward being your articulate and caring self.
Love,
all of us
dawg the end of this video had me crying😂
One thing that came to mind is that John hill and braille are getting a lot of those views from TH-cam shorts
Poor Jeff. I think his lack of pop is what lets him down. He might do big heights and steps but he seems to just fall of them rather than jump.
It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it..
Yeah, that would frustrate me so much that i would work out my legs until i could have good pop. When i skate, pop was the most important factor in my opinion. I was happiest when i could pop as high as i could off of things and catch my board at the peak of my jump. Nothing felt better than that.
Lol i RESENT that my comment was shown as the casual berrics viewer...i hate them but that ribeiro vs felipe was the best content they put out in a long time
Ahahahaahah
@@kus88 🤣😅
yeah, they make almost* nothing worth watching anymore, but that series was excellent.
Good. I’m glad he is making money. He gives his honest opinion. I am 39 so I am not the Demographic. But I love him. He is hilarious 😂
Thanks for putting me on this video. I have a part two about him coming out soon as well I filmed shortly after the other one.
Great stuff DD. It's all very entertaining. The ironic street part clearly made his viewers the punch line of his joke. Funny indeed but the shift going from laughing with to laughing at his audience will be a test.
lol is that what you think happened?
You sound like Napoleon Dynamites brother.
I really liked this one. GH is great. He has a very unique style of skateboarding videos
That ending had me yearning for more Jeff D
You seem jelly, we like you both
"simply attempted to sell 1500$ pants" was perfectly fine for Joa to call that out, and more.
Yeah DD is shitting the bed with this one.
His articulate rants got me locked in
i'm like 30 years old and think he's hilarious. in my opinion skateboarding needs a menace
if he ever crosses the line and does some weird shit then i'll abandon him but for now, it's just crass humor that i appreciate
Get the dumb data Patreon up and running so we can get you an iPhone with a working home button.
We just appreciate the truth, same reason we don't like the news. The fans see past the facade of injustice.
I'm glad you're back at it!
Gifted hater won my heart with the old man ben degros edit just slapped into one of his videos
I would say what he did to the hyphenate is a lot worse than what he did to young lung
Critique vs praise ratio is spot on this time.
his growth is nuts.
I'm actually hoping to see another creator who is even more brutally honest and merciless.
jeff dechesare makes me want to fall asleep standing up, which is also hard to do
Joa has more personality in his Last Resort’s than if you welded all of the TH-cam skaters together to make some kinda giant TY skater final boss
The people want dumb data footy
On the spectrum of hecklers in skateboarding Joa is on the bright side. He’s funny, lighthearted and disses basically everyone rather than always sparing the cool guys. In the history of skateboarding there have always been hecklers and many times there have been real life “daggers” (see thrashin’, eighties skate movie), meat head hecklers who are stupid and nowhere near as entertaining as gifted hater.
That fade out at the end tho... hahahaha
'aaron kyro on estrogen' gah dayum
love jeff, he got tricks, but dude has anti style.
Where can i find the 9 club gifted hater episode? :0
Same. I searched for it everywhere. Usually they put stuff like that on their clip channel but it's not there. It looks like his part came out like 2 weeks ago so MAYBE they will put it on their clip channel. It's got to be in one of the episodes in the last 2 weeks though.
Experience 234
$18000 a month? He should buy a boat!
I’ve never seen any content by GH, but I guess it’s good to know what other people are into.
Insane how far his channel has come in the last couple of years considering all he does is shit talk on a dollar tree mic😂
He is the human version of Weevil Underwood
Weevil is human too lol
CHANDLER BURTON SIGHTING
Don't watch GH but enjoy the analysis. Though I might just watch that street part. Looks pretty good.
This is precisely the youtube garbage im looking for.
Here cus I ran out of GH content
Did you show us any numbers on the difference between his first year and second year on TH-cam? I must have missed it
Idk about the upper am lower pro comment he’s a more tasteful version of an instagram skater at best
Love giftedhater. Half the fun of skating is shit talking and even better with ammo to back it and make it actually entertaining
BTW while we on shit talking, when was the last time ninjalifestyle skated the streets and put out a street part? Asking for a friend.
im sorry if im getting something wrong but theres no way john hill did 6 mil views over the last 30 days. If you add his views from these past 30 day videos you get something like 250.000
funny how you represent jonny giger with the profile image of his telegram hater
He didnt do enough damage to the berrics. They are still around
The irony spiral here is quite palpable.
I honestly don’t think he sees it.
Dern Bros are the only ones that matter
He’s objective about the corporatization of skateboarding and all the grifters trying to get a piece
joa videos are calm and collected
WHY does Michael relevant read from a screen? They must not be his words… stop reading your financier’s emailed scripts 🤦♂️
This video has “Doubt Me” vibes
I’m 31 and I love gifted hater’s videos
how can you assume that he's more popular with the younger audiences? He's like the opposite of what younger audiences would enjoy
Cant wait for the GH response
I gotta say, GIfted Hater became easily one of my favorite youtubers ever literally within his first few uploads. I was just stoked someone finally came out and said what a lot of us were already thinking and I was happy there's still people who care about the real. Sure I don't agree with everything he says, but he definitely shares a lot of the same opinions I had already so I felt like I could relate to him a lot
10:28 Now Max is the truth 🎉 that’s a cold fact
7 months late but I think the criticism is a welcome change compared to the toxic positivity Casey Neistat clones. I think he’s a good reaction to mainstream TH-camrs
GH is hella funny and well spoken
lol, sounds like Dumb Data is salty.
GH actually has the respect of the core skating community; that's why he's got viewership
Anyone know where the full vid is from the nine club, looked around but can't seem to find it
