Thank you so much for this. I think this is what I was missing yesterday when I got my new Fiber Laser that came in. I believe the settings are the same. omtech 20 W
This is very educative video. I enjoy your videos. I have a question though. Is it possible if I want to just create a 3x3 array of laser points for a prolonged time? What I mean by that is, I just need to create a pattern of laser spots, not care about engraving them in metal or wood. Is there any feature what can be used to do that? I appreciate your time. Thank you.
@@LaserEverything Thank you very much for your reply. The video that you suggested is a very good one, but that is not exactly what I am looking for. th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxnWHnz-tdPJvfsiv4en-tL879Zo_PPr_y If you see the above video, there they tried to create a 2-point dynamic laser spot. but rather than two, I need a 3x3 array or any arbitrary number of array of laser points and I want to manipulate the dots in real time. I don't need to engrave anything, I just need the laser dots to appear at the same time. Is that possible to get with the lightburn? Thanks again. Much appreciated.
@lasereverything. Just downloaded LightBurn for my machine and watched your incredible helpful videos but I’m doing a circle logo and its burning oval? Any thoughts?
In a further along episode in this series, we cover applying, and also creating your own cor file. Work up to that section, but that will be the process that will correct skewing, distortion, and sizing scale.
Very cool !! I’m new on this things I like to start doing this, what brand You would recommend?the CO2 galvo and the fiber laser just to star a Chinese brand since they are no too expensive and some of the are pretty good for the price.
Vids are really good! Your content is a one stop shop. I joined your discord too its great! Any down side to running Light Burn on a laptop? Mine is a pretty powerful CAD lap top but kind of older, running win 10.
I wonder if you could show the settings for wood and medal coins. I just got my 60 watt Mopa and can't get letters without over burn. I know the focus is correctly adjusted thanks Rick
In this video, your red framing light is very bright, is there a setting to adjust brightness in framing mode? Mine is very dim. I have a Monport 30w Mopa with Lightburn 1.6.03.
The brightness can be due to a few things and is laser vendor/model dependent based on the parts they used to build your unit (so it could be different for everyone). Some sources actually have an internal red dot in the source itself, and that gets set by the manufacturer often through a rs232 cable and special software, and the brightness level can be changed. The other option which is a more long term sustainable option, is a beam combined red dot. This uses a special beam combining mirror to reflect the red dot into the same or similar path of the laser beam after it leaves the emitter but before the laser head/mirrors. This makes the red dot physically separate, meaning its replaceable separately too. They cost just a few bucks each and can be swapped in like 3 minutes and is just an on/off thing so will always be full brightness typically, but if its internal it is a manufacturer service item to replace which increases cost. Your red dot may be dim for a few reasons, but I would guess if you're using a JPT mopa source that they could be relying on the internal red dot of the source (a nice value add feature of the JPT sources), but if the brightness level is available for change, it may not be turned up. You can reach out to Monport to see if they can assist with that, and they should also be able to confirm if that is what they are using (internal to the source), or a combined red dot. If its dim and combined, simply getting a 3 dollar replacement red dot and swapping it would probably fix that. Hope that helps!
The Mactron unit is still my favorite but I can easily recommend all of the sellers listed in our Buying Guide who all have 30w variants of their offerings: www.lasereverything.net/buyingguide
My 50W Raycus never shows ready...? Even though everything is working. Also the job never shows the progress information that I see when using my diode laser in Lightburn. Help please?
The ready indicator has never been particularly reliable for me either - I just ignore it. Progress information isn't really accurate for fibers as fibers are constantly streaming data to the laser in chunks. I think that's something that could use some improvement in LightBurn eventually...
@@LaserEverything Thanks for the clarification 👍🏻 🙏 Would be nice in future updates to see the progress, pass number etc... that you get when using diode lasers with Lightburn.
Hey Alex and all! I have one question: On my contour preview of the text laser projects mirrored contour instead? How to change it? Its a lil confusing. Anyway - thank you so much for your tutorials!
Hey! If your laser is seeing mirrored output / framing, you can reverse the direction in the device settings (its the option under galvo 1 or galvo 2, where it says reverse direction/negate). The galvo you reverse is going to depend on which axis is being mirrored, so try one and test to determine if its the right one. This is something that will also be corrected during a corfile typically when you run that, but that's how you manually flip it. Hope it helps!
Thanks for your video. I have a question. Can you help me ? How can I rotate symbols on laser bed ? I want it that İn the same direction as on the lightburn screen
You haven't made it that far into the series playlist yet, you've got a few lessons to get to that. Sounds like you'll be looking for the lightburn lens calibration and corrections video. That covers fixing the scale output after you get your focal height set so items are the right size, orientation and inversion on each axis, as well as your typical skew/trapezoid correction and such. You no longer need to swap to ezcad to get the tool to automate the process, lightburn added a tool and we've added that to the playlist as well. Hope that helps!
Your videos have been SO hopeful. I'm having a big issue with my framing button. It was working fine, but all of a sudden when I hit the Frame button it starts the beam and runs continuously until I pause it, then stop it. Frustrating! Have you encountered this by chance? I've turned the "require framing" toggle on and off to no avail :(
Check what port your red light pointer is set to activate on and make sure it's not mixed up with the "start marking" port. Start marking is usually set to 10-15 so if the red light is there that may be causing the issue.
My frame (red light) burns at the same rate as the laser (if the laser is set to 80% power, if I frame it cuts at 80%) I can't find where to change the red light power. Using LB 1.6
I have an Omtech Fiber Laser 30W machine and I can't get it fully operational. I bought it second-hand directly from Omtech; their customer service is hopeless. I'm in Ensenada, Mexico, and there's no one here who understands it. I moved here from Austria. My main business is 3D printing. The machine arrived with a wrong motherboard, which Omtech replaced. The machine is uncalibrated, I have trouble installing drivers properly (didn't receive USB), EZCAD doesn't work, LightBurn can laser but framing doesn't work at all. Do you know what the problem might be? Thank you!
There are a few possibilities. It's possible the framing red dot laser is controlled through a I/O port, which you may need to trial and error your way through testing and finding in the device settings. It may freeze or cause your laser to fire. If that is the case, be prepped and safe, and be ready to hit the E stop to kill the power. If it causes things to freeze or misbehave, go back into lightburn and change the port back before turning the laser back on and trying a different port. Not graceful, and requires safety planning, but its doable. Alternative is that there might be a physical red light button to turn it on, usually on the laser head, or on the box if its a split style unit. That may turn it on and sort that out. Unfortunately, lasers can come with red dots within the source (Like JPT's) or may use beam combined red dots within the laser path (in the arm of the laser on the tower, just before the laser head), and then ontop of that, many ways to configure and software/hardware power and control them. Thats about as far as we can get in the youtube comments, but if you're still stuck or need help, I highly encourage you join at least one of the free communities we link in the description so the support community can help you out in a thread.
