This is, UNQUESTIONABLY, the absolute BEST shot of a 'Douglas DC-8' takeoff that I’ve been able to find ANYWHERE on the internet! Please, NEVER take down this video.
Love the long, sleek fuselage, love the double-bubble design, love the wings, love the small little vertical stabilizer, and definitely love the abundance and beautiful design of the cockpit windows. DC (and MD) certainly made the most beautiful planes out there in my opinion! Such a shame these birds are being taken to the desert en masse, as I've heard that the DC-8 airframe has a strength and durability of legendary proportions
Love the DC-8,and the Super 70s in particular.I believe the Astar aircraft was reactivated in 2017,and now flies for Sky Bus air cargo.Nice to see,as l think there are only seven DC-8s now flying worldwide. My favourite airliner of all, followed by the beautiful VC10❤😎👍!
not exactly. "Douglas commercial" (DC) was the moniker given to the aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company, founded by Donald Douglas. Douglas merged with the McDonnell corporation in the 70's (80's?) and the aircraft built after that -- MD11, MD8x, etc. carried the :"MD" designation.
They may look new - but they're not. The 4 ATI birds shown are between 44 & 46 years old. They're all still flying. The other 4 birds (National, 2 DHL & ASTAR) are all in storage now.
Great video and dc-8 needs the cfm-56 because the faa and the panjny along with los Angeles world airports will consider the jt3d the dc-8s original engine being very noisy and they not fly into 2013 without being reengined in the 1980s
Sean Carley wrong MD is McDonnell Douglas after the merger originally its was just Douglas aircraft like the DC-10 which is a much different aircraft than the MD-11
Without a doubt...the most beautiful plane ever. Nothing can compare!!!
So cool to see these old birds still out there doing their thing.

This plane's take-offs were always effortless-and beautiful.

A classic of aviation of the years 1960. Now living history if still flying.
Beautiful bird DC8-70, with the mighty CFM56
Gorgeous!
Still the most beautiful bird of them all!

Wonderful!
Delta flew these to ORD.
Just I saw a aircrash investigation about a DC 8 crash, in 1978.

Are those new engines on the ATI DC-8? Look like it...
I believe ATI are still using DC-8s, aren't they?
Great compilation! Beautiful aircraft, but still not original with these CFM-hairdryer-stlye engines ;)
Gostei muito, o barulho do motor eh bastante suave.
Equipped with the CFM engines they lost their sound :(
And when McDonnell-Douglas was bought out by Boeing, the MD-95 became the B-717.
why do people say "douglas" or mcdonnell douglas" before any of their planes MD or DC i dont get it MD and DC mean the same
