    What a nice and informative video.👏 Do you only use a 50mm for your M240? Or maybe switch lenses?

    • @teribphotography
      @teribphotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup! I just keep the 50mm on my m240. Had the 24mm summi and ended up selling it during the pandemic. I miss it sometimes but the 50 does so much for me. My all time favorite lens

    Here I am buying a Olympus XA $150 with TRI-X film for my Monochrome pocket camera :) Which has the benefit it can actually fit in a pocket. I did check out the Q2 when it first hit store shelves and loved the quality feel of it. However I can't get around the 28mm, 35mm and I think I would have walked out with it. I looked at your blog post and really like your unique style and the Theater shot was so cool.

    • @teribphotography
      @teribphotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha! Q2 technically could be a pocket camera, with the right kind of pockets 😂 That 35mm is for sure a sweet spot, I know what you mean! Thanks a lot for checking out the blog and for the kind words

    I bought my cousin's Nikon D850 with his 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm and 200-400mm lenses. Then my brother was selling his Leica Q2 and I decided to buy it off him. Checking account mad at me lol. What I like about the Q2 is mainly for the size. So much easier to carry around than my D850. Shots come out great and depending on what you're shooting, it's almost like you don't need post processing. Down side is the fixed 28mm but that's adjustable for me. Autofocus can be hit or miss but if you're not a rapid fire shooter, using the range finder focusing is the way to go for the clear shot.

    • @teribphotography
      @teribphotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally get many of these things. The size is the best part, I agree! You do have to focus on the shots and make sure they are focused just right. It’s not my go to camera but it’s solid, especially as a companion camera! Thanks a lot for commenting ✨

    The Q line is so nice. I had a Q1 and took some of my favorite photos ever with it. I now have a Q2 Monochrom and it’s incredible although maybe a bit too niche. My main complaint echos one of yours about the body getting dinged up so easily.

    • @teribphotography

      The monochrome has also felt so fancy to me, I have definitely considered it over the years but can’t justify for my wedding work. Yes! There were a few other knicks I didn’t add in the video. It looks terrible 🙈😂

The CL is really portable (especially with either a Leica TL 18 mm f/2.8 or TL 23 mm f/2 lens). The SL2 feels really solid and I’m looking forward to using it more this Fall when the SL lenses I ordered arrive.

    • @davidrodgers5534
      @davidrodgers5534 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tmbrwn In the order you asked, yes, I’ve had several “pro” level memory cards fail, not as many of the older CF cards but I’ve had several higher end SD cards fail from various manufacturers over the years, and yes, some even at event shoots. As far as “raw files to two memory cards” … yes, of course, all of them do. I can’t think of a single camera system that has multiple memory cards, going back to multi-card slot DSLRs not even just mirrorless that doesn’t have a “clone” card mode that records exactly the same data to both card slots. That is the entire point of having two card slots …. Redundancy because failures really, really do happen when you burn thousands of images to them over and over again.

      @@tmbrwn I have and LOVE the Q2 and carry it with me everywhere I go in my non-work, personal life, but I would never use it for serious work that doesn’t happen outside controlled conditions like a portrait session where I can re-capture those images if the camera or cards fail.

    • @teribphotography
      @teribphotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the comment, I've had some issues using older SD cards in newer cameras but never had one just full on fail. Shooting with the q2 and the M240 I've never had an sd card fail. Can't speak to the scenario you are referring to

    • @teribphotography
      @teribphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are some just general focus issues, whether I have a moving subject or not. When I do use it I usually do two shots or more to make sure I get it. Moving subjects I find really, really hard to get with this camera. I don't trust it to keep up with big moments of the wedding day. Does that seem fair?

    • @teribphotography

      @@teribphotography What is the difference actually using the M and the Q2 to shoot movement shots? If you could do it with the M, I assume you can switch the Q2 to manual focus too right?

    • @teribphotography
      @teribphotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marvinling1434 From my experince, the Q2 cannot handle quick moving subjects. I've had people waive, go in for hugs, jump and do kicks on a wedding day and the blur motion in the capture is always unuseable and very bizarre. With the M the motion is captured I guess more artfully if I had to describe it? The moments captured on the M feel more authentic and true to life wheras the Q2 it feels like an image taken on a point and shoot camera [which is what it is!] hopefully that makes sense!!

    • @teribphotography
      @teribphotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, you said it best. You need 2-3 batteries. In a full 8 hour day I usually use just one Canon battery and two Leica M batteries, which makes sense for a 6 year old camera. Something so state of the art should have better battery life imo. No deniying the files!! For fast moving moments though, it can't keep up. EG, a groom did a big heel kick and I tried the q2, the image is blurry and bizarre, Nearly unuseable even in bw. Thanks for taking a watch Roger!

    Excellent review of a mediocre much hyped camera. The Fuji x100v is far superior , you pay a lot for the Red dot! Keep up the good work, It’s not a criticism of you😍

    • @-grey
      @-grey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      X100V is more hyped though, and pretty mediocre too. I wouldn't say either of these are "far superior". The Q, V, and GR all kind of hover neck-and-neck in the same space when size and weight is a big factor.
      I wouldn't trust Fujifilm files to deliver the best objective quality, or colour, with muddier tones and flatter glass quality, but if you like their aesthetic and don't mind using the chunky WCL to get wider, then it's more versatile than the GR, and more reliable than the Q.
      The Q has the best IQ in both resolution and glass quality, with the best manual focus operation and brightest aperture, but it's slow, expensive, and big, so why not just get a more techy camera for the price and weight?
      The GR is the most convenient and compact, has more natural colours than either of them, and better IQ than the Fujifilm, but it's not as bright for low light, and is more clunky to operate if it's not set-up right.
      Personally, I'd get the GR, as a second camera to my Fujifilm X-T3. The Q is too big, I don't need f2 when I have f1.4 lenses, and sometimes I just want accurate natural colours and cleaner IQ than what the X-Trans can put out.

    • @teribphotography
      @teribphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@-grey Hi!! Somehow I missed this great comment. The Q is regarded as the best point and shoot camera in the world. At the end of the day, a point and shoot is just that. In my opinion. I think Fujifilm makes awesome cameras that really embrace that celebrated film throwback style. I just prefer the Leica brand - if that's fair!

    • @marvinling1434
      @marvinling1434 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@-grey I’ve all x100V, GR III, GR IIIx, and Q2. GR is the less versatile. Image quality and color I’ll say Fuji and Q2 are easier to work with. The V isn’t that overhyped thou, if comparing the V with Q, the Q has better micro contrast, but not by far. With a little flash on the V you get to do some creative shots, plus flip screen, and most importantly for Teri, it has double exposure 😉, plus it has more tactile dials than my Q2. With the V switched off you can still dial in your settings for the next shot, you can’t do that on the Q2, because you need to power on it to change ISO. Q2 for me win over the V mostly are manual focus and 47MP for more cropping leeway.
