- Sometimes you can't find what you want close to home ... you have to travel. These mules have a pretty good story that goes with them so I drove to Nevada to get them.. I hate motels and I like to cook on a fire and eat out of a cooler .. It was a fun trip and good journey and I did get me a couple of new mules ..
Thanks so much for coming along on the journey with me! It just wouldn’t be the same without you!

Skito Saddle Pads
I was in the market for a new saddle pad after my old one wore out.
Agnes, my riding mule, has a bad back and it makes a big difference to have a good saddle pad.
We live in a world of ignorant bliss. The majority know nothing and are happy about it. 20 years ago, my hubs and I took our 2 sons and bought 26 acres atop a mountain in the middle of nowhere. It's something I dreamed of my whole life and God blessed me by allowing it to happen. It was the best thing we ever did as adults. Our sons became fine young men, good husband's and dads and made us very proud. We're older now and by God's grace, still enjoying isolation to the fullest! LOL The level of crazy in this world scares the HELL outta me so no big city dreams here. I really enjoy your channel. My Dad and I raised, broke and sold mules back in the late 60's and 70's. Really brings back precious memories from when I was a young girl. Backstory: Dad had 1 kid...me. He wanted a boy really bad but got me instead. So he did all he could with what he had and taught me everything he would've had I been a boy and what glorious childhood it was!! Good times! Blessings!!
Beautiful story Madam, hope you are having a wonderful life plump full of happiness and laughter.
My God Bless ❤
We take everything for granted because we have never been through bad times. We have lived in a great time I have to trust in the Lord. I’m pretty sure that this country and the world will suffer some day soon. God bless you Brett and God bless our country.
Thank you .. and I believe your right .. probably sooner then later
I like the mules Brett, probably gonna take some work. Be safe my friend.
I agree
I’ve been through bad times and I don’t take any thing for granted, but I know you just put one foot in front of the other and continue to march no matter how bad things get, you work at having an attitude of gratitude, and you don’t whine.
Reminds me of words in a song, “The Lord on the mountain is the Lord in the valley”. He is changeless and eternal. Our time is but a millisecond, and then gone forever. I don’t lean on my own understanding. I trust my Creator who knows me and my circumstances.
hello my fiend, good to see you again. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. Most of my family is gone not that they enjoyed the same things as me. I was married years ago and we went out to play like you do, I sure miss that kind of freedom enjoyment. So sir please keep making these videos, makes my heart feel good.
I'd take that setup over a motel room any day!
Sad story about the old Cowboy. I’m glad you got his mule and will take care of it.
Drone views is breathtaking. Always look forward to your videos. I get to live the life thru you.
Glad you like them! I would of done more but it got a little too windy .. Thanks
You did good by those animals. You're a good man. Thanks for another fun adventure. Looking forward to the next one. I hope these mules can keep up with you. Keep Smiling and Stay Grateful.
lol thank you ... we will find out soon .. stay tuned lol
Glad to see someone with years of experience trying to load a mule without saying oh come on n making smoochie noises, sometimes you gotta whack them on the butt
lol I made some smoochie noises but I'm afraid youtube wouldn't like them lol .. Thanks
@@BrettVaughnB100
I know they don't like my French fries, ummm maybe to much Pepper??? 😅😡🤔
Nice looking Mule's. May they bring you many good years of happiness and safe travels.
My the Good Lord always be with you.
Amen ❤
Good luck with the new mules. I really enjoyed this video. The scenery and stories. I really liked the way you loaded the reluctant mule. Your patience and command eased the animal in safely. Your experience with the mules is a joy to watch. This 70 year old subscriber grew up as a kid on my grandpa's farm in east Texas with a bunch of ginny mules and donkeys. I can appreciate what you love about a good mule. Keep on keeping on , my friend.
Thank you .. I will probably be posting some videos of me working with these new ones ..
I am looking forward to your adventures with your new mules.
Love it! Just found you via New Mexico Magazine! What an awesome way to live your life! I was born in wide open space of Texas, raised in SE NM under the massive Milky Way. I'd love to do what your doing, but being an older woman, I'd face too many obstacles. You know that! 😂
Before I leave this beautiful Earth, would you be willing to take me out under the stars just to be in awe of the beautiful sky & land that's in my blood.
I'm sure you get this a lot.
My BIL was Manager of Yosemite Stables, now retired. He used mules for their pack trail rides, plus had a couple of his own.
Any who...love your energy, so keep doing what you do! Being outside is priceless and will kerp you young. Stay safe! 🌌⚛️🫏🫏🫏
Every time I thumb over to your channel I just wanted wish you the best in Christ Brother! We let’s say more mature men hv been around long enough to hv been in a scrap or two, lost something that hurt deep, and know better than to be mean! I am not nice but I am kind! I am still a working carpenter just the way it is? That lost something part also took something?
Anyway I enjoy it ? Life ! And I see you do ! I will one day meet you ! Carry on!
I hope the mules work out for you. Sad story about the old man.
I do too .. yes was a sad story .. Thank you
Yup, a good cigar down to the nub. Watching the light fad to evening.
Yes sir .. one of the simple pleasures in life .. Thanks
Good to always be prepared for anything that can come our way. Especially soul wise! Our world is crazy!
Yes I agree .. Thank s
I've lived out of a backpack for 15 years been a Subscriber to all things outdoors your right Motels are not me although I've had to do it numerous times you provide good content so I watch thanks
Thanks .. sounds like your my kind .. 15 years thats cool
I like to hear about the type dog food you feed what’s in it like protein and what you think is best . I run mountain curs with a lot of energy
Cute tree that right behind you. Yes about EMP really scary. Lots to think about a plan, like you said we never know.
I hope the mules work out for you!
I like the grey mule. He’s actually a good looking mule.
My mother’s father had two mules he used to plow tobacco fields with and harvest with here in North Carolina. Reidsville, NC. Dragging wood sleds to put the tobacco in after we tied the leaves in bundles and then tied them onto tobacco sticks. Lay them in the sled till full then take them to hang up in the tobacco barn.
Both females, a black named Burt and a red one whose name i can’t recall.
I enjoy the videos and i enjoy seeing the mules. Onward and upward.
Great video. Enjoyed the conversation and scenery. Need to do more of just sitting around the fire, and just telling stories.
Next video maybe Thank you
You should read "one second after". Takes place in western N.C. about an EMP attack. The sequel is "one year after " Very eye opening!
I think I did .. but I will look thanks
Keep your eyes on the prize brother 🙏. Things are about to get really serious. Love what you do and how you do it. Stay safe.
Thank you, I will
Cool trip and nice video. Thanks 👍
It was interesting to see you video coming up through my stomping ground in southwestern CO and Eastern Utah ... But I wanted to alert you to putting that lithium battery in a better place than on the floor under your tack and equipment ... a LOT of things could happen to spark into that hay on the floor.. beside that, those batteries are known for burning for strange reasons... especially from failed charge controllers... jus sayin friend ... (I get the best cigars that are whiskey dipped Bandidos from Cigars International. 60 in burlap made in Honduras about 30 bucks)
I will be careful ... I do need to improve my cigar game lol Thanks
As always another great educational video. I believe these new animals are going to work out just fine. The way that one and you worked together to get him inside the trailer.
Always a pleasure to watch your video's. Keep on Trucking can't wait to see how they both work out.
Your first camp looks like it's up by quemado. I think I'm going to settle out there. Lots of big land with dark skies up there. Be safe, Brett.
That was a really cool adventure.
Somehow I missed this story and your stop around Kanab. I stoped there for three or four hours, let two geldings out for a stretch, trip from Mid Montana to Congress, Az. I think 1997…..Nice country. Sad about the old man killing his dog !
Thanks Brett. 🤠👍
Your welcome .. yes that is a good place to stop .. I sure would like to go back up there and ride some of that country .. Thanks
Hello friend, have a good trip and may you return safely and very happy with the mules. I would also like to have two but I have not been able to tame one so I am here. Greetings from Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA.
Keep up the good stories you got my attention
Love your videos. Enjoyable and always learn something new.
Glad to hear it! Thank you !
Yes sir you have the right idea, keep thinking ahead.
Thank you, I will try
Awesome video Brett I sure do love all your stories and all your adventures looking forward to seeing more on the mules and running the hounds take care God bless
Love to be able to setup like what you have and explore the mountains around me. Looks like a great buy to me!
So far .. Thank you
You are living the life my friend God bless you and yours
Nice view from your tent and drone!
Dang! Wish I would have known you were traveling through Utah! Could’ve saddled up the horses and loaded some dogs and tried to get a longtail up a tree. Do yourself a favor and give those mules a good honest shot, they might be awesome the second they trust you! Love your channel!
Cameron Adams
I would of liked that .. maybe next time .. Thanks Cameron
Pretty nice road trip! Hope your mules work out.
Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to adventures with the new mules. Good Luck!
This video brings back the memory of the time I bought an old mare I named Crow. Was not quite sure at the time what I was getting but my first couple rides seemed to go well. As it turned out this old mare had a heart of gold and was an extremely safe horse for my family and me to ride.
Hoping the same with these so far so good thanks
Best on your new mules, great video and glad to see brought couple dogs.
The story about the old man hits. May he and his dog found peace together ❤️ Blessings to their family.
Start with one goat and its like Pringles. Can't stop😂...I like the young mules face, very beautiful. Time will tell❤..
lol true .. Thanks
I fully agree on driving out of your way to avoid traffic!! I would rather take the extra time and be moving than taking a “quicker route” and sitting in traffic for a couple hours.
I know it does bother me .. Thanks
Very good 👍
Hope they work out for you.
Buenos Noches
Little Español for you 🤠
Cool you watched till the end Gracias
@@BrettVaughnB100 Always 👊
Damn good adventure. Sad about the old man, I have to say I don't hold with taking your own life but freedom is what it's all about. Thanks for taken us along!!🤓
Thank you .. yeah kinda bothered me when I heard that story
Glad you got the mule loaded. Looking forward to seeing them riden. Have a great evening!
Enjoyed first drone footage. Helps me with a visualization of how you are set up. Thx.
Thanks .. I should of flew it more at the other places but the wind was blowing a bit too much ...
Beautiful mules
Thank you
Hey brett, if you're ever in nevada again i suggest you go to a place called delamar. It was an old gold mining town, and used to put out in a day more than some mines put out in their entire lifetimes. It's beautiful country, and there's plenty of trails to take the mules on. god bless and stay safe
Thanks .. I do plan on going back
Wow!!! Really exceptional trip you shared with us!!!! Thanks and praying for good times with the new mules!
Thank you
Great job and best wishes.😊
I love Kanab Utah. Been yrs since I have been there but it’s beautiful there
Hope all will be good Brett with both Mules. Might be some training, could be worth it. Looking forward to your videos with them the first time. Good luck. -Kid Yuma
What a Great video! Great story too! My husband and I will be waiting on your next adventure! Thank You!
When them computers quit them pacemakers quit too. The book has already been wrote. It's " One Second After " Newt Gindrige wrote the forward and said " It's if it's when " . Good trip.
Yeah but I was thinking about someone being out away from home when it happens ? Trying to get back to his loved ones .. has that one been made ? Thanks
You're a good man Brett. I hope these two serve you well!
Thank you
Good luck with The new mules bud. Wish you the best. N great video as always
Thanks 👍
Good stuff Brett!
I remember trying to load new horses in trailers… especially hard to do by yourself. Had to tie off lunge lines on the other side of the trailer and wrap it behind their hind quarters while passing the other end through the slats to try to haul/coax em in. Man, I tell ya when they laid back on the line you never knew if they were going to brake the lead or bend your trailer up. Scary but by goin slow and you being more determined than them they’d start to feel like you know what you’re doing with them. Stubborn, horses or mules if you don’t work with them. Can’t let up on letting them know who’s the boss or they take advantage. Took quite some time to train em to trailer. Ah well it’s all part of the fun. Good riding to you. New page in the adventure…
I had to go to the office today. Had a nice long meeting with the engineering department… I just wanted to set the tone when I say, I’m JEALOUS!! Nice looking mules. They look strong. I really like the light dun one, almost looks palomino colored. Not sure I’ve seen a mule that color. I’m excited to see the adventures… You be careful out there, you know better than most but young stock can be a pain to work the boogers out of.
I know .. I am starting out slow with them .. want them to be like my Jet mule and Agnes .. my buddies ..we will see Thanks
@@BrettVaughnB100 They couldn’t be in better hands. If anyone can make them into good mules, it’s Brett. I’ve never been on a gaited mule… Hopefully she’s smooth
I love your penthouse tent
Awesome video, well done. Thanks.
hasta la viste .....Me Compadre.....Vaya Con Dios...........OnWard..........
Great ride, we are so much alike. Salt Lakes are amazing. Did you see the tiny Mortan Salt building in the middle with the conveyor? la próxima vez mi buen amigo
I did .. different looking country for sure .. Thanks
The movie Civil War just came out.. absolutely enjoy watching, learning, laughing.
Glad to see you got those new mules. Onward and upward.
Thanks 👍
Living the dream.
I am trying ... Thank you
Solar lithium batteries and power boxes r great for camping something that wasn't around when I was younng broke a wheel bearing in Kanub years ago driving from Phoenix back to Dakora awesome country have you ever tied a rope to one side of the trailer and up uner the tail and through the other side to coax into the trailer glad you had a safe trip
Love your videos, thanks for taking the time to share your life with us
My pleasure! Thank you for watching
Awesome video as always!
I'm a thousand miles from nowhere
Time don't matter to me
'Cause I'm a thousand miles from nowhere
And there's no place I want to be
I got heartaches in my pocket
I got echoes in my head
And all that I keep hearing
Are the cruel, cruel things that you said....no, that s my mule and I ain't selling Charlie!! I got hopes for that dun. Sad story about that old cowboy. I just sipped a drink and wish him peace. Went through Kanab a few times to hunt...Deer Crossing means just that!! They were always massive muleys on Hwy 89A and you had to be vigilant at dawn and dusk.
I did think about that song when I titled this video lol .. Thanks
Excellent video…. Great narrative
Gonna be an experience, hope it well, good looking mules
In with the #240 Comment. Keep them coming... I enjoy your content.
Thanks I will try ..
Looks like a New hat new mules good one
Brett,
Great video. I admire the life you live. Never have drove 1,000 miles one way to pick anything up and admire how you get 'er done. Love your dun mule. Can't wait to see your gaited girl travel. Used to have a half quarter, half fox trotter mare I bought for my kids to learn to ride. Had a rocking-chair slow trot that was awesome to sit. Hope they work well for you.
Ok, got to ask....what are you going to call them? Closing remark. If the old cowboy could see who bought his mules, I think he would have a big grin on his face.
They already made that show called “Walking Dead” and from what I’ve seen of the show it’s brutal!!!
It is
That is a sad story but I get it, I'm far from old half my time is gone I can see how we can feel like that even with family. Like Neil young said sometimes it's better to burn out then fade away. Till next time safe travels
Very enjoyable video sir!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
I enjoy ur content, i live in w tx, s nm, so am familiar with alot of the areas u work out of. i have the same hatband and ice chest , so you got good style too. Keep up the good times n great content.
Thanks ... both have good taste lol
Good luck with those new critters. Be looking for ya next time Brett. Take care.🇺🇲🔪🌲🔥
Thanks for your videos.
That looks like a good place to take your mules on a short ride on the way back
There were some good places for sure .. but I wanted to get back start my program with them .. Thanks
I have a nice 14 hand strawberry roan molly that would make someone a great mule. Not bern rode for 7 years, but meets and greets and wants a job. Guy who broke her used her to teach kids to ride. I'm antique and bones and joints don't enjoy riding anymore, but I wouldn't be afraid to get on her. Her mama is a little sorrel / white overo APHA mare. Her daddy was a 14 hand, broad chested, strawberry roan jack who would pasture breed mares. Both parents have natural good temperaments. I love this molly, but hate to see her wasted in my pasture. She is coming on 13 years old and never been used. Had 7 mule colts born the year after my husband died. Still have 3 of them.
I bet you could sell her pretty easy .. they are worth a lot now days
I kind of got the feeling from seeing the dun that he’s a gentleman, he’ll be willing to learn and adapt to you. The other one I didn’t get a good look at, but she leads well and loads well. As far as staying in a motel, give me a tent in the open anytime. I might be cold but I’m not going to leave in the morning with bugs. LOL
Very true .. kinda of feeling of freedom too ... been working with the brown mule she is going to be nice I believe .. Thanks
Xcellent...😮
Thanks
Thank you .. !!
Yup.
Outstanding
You are truly the definition of a “Good ‘ole Boy”! I love your free, adventurous spirit ! Thanks for the tip on the “OLIGHT” as well. I am going to purchase one of those - I have been looking for a good, bright, reliable flashlight. Where’s the weblink where I can purchase an OLIGHT and get that 20% discount? I didn’t see a link in the show notes
Here you go Olight:
Link: www.olightstore.com/all-products
Use Code: B100YTL.. I really am amazed at them .. I'm sure there are other good ones out there but these people really are good to me ..Thanks
So the mule meter keeps climbing 👍 also watch some TH-cam on the borax 20 mule team. How much time would a lead mule take to direction 10 mule deep? Pulling a considerable amount of weight plus a pup wagon
Not sure? Don't know much about that .. Thanks
Good Luck with your new mules, don't get bucked off.😅 I just watched the mule sale in Salmon, Idaho, they were expensive. 😮
Yes they are expensive .. and I will try to stay on top .. Thanks
I have that same dishwasher just a different color! Keep that Powder Dry Mr. Vaughn!
Will do!!
brought your dogs along 👍🏻
Try not to go anywhere without a couple .. thanks
I like you're video so much that I watched it again, have you considered maybe doing a class or school on packing out on mules or horses? Might make you some more $$.
No not really .. I make a video some day on how I do it .. there are lots of guys that are really good packers .. I just get by .. Thanks
Brett, you're making me hungry with those steaks🥩❣️
lol it was good... thanks
LMAO. Brett, you took fat Lory with you! I just saw that at 13:40 .
You are a kindred spirit and a good man!
No that is Fat Pea .. Fat Lori's mother .. must be genetic lol .. Thanks
on yer walkaround, you should be Thumpin yer tires my Friend......it will pay huge dividends.......take it from an OL Trucker......OnWard........
