Canal Icebreaker - Winter Cruising on a Canal Narrowboat as we explore Britain by Narrowboat - Ep 80

- Winter is coming, and narrowboat Silver Fox turns canal icebreaker as winter cruising on a canal narrowboat gets underway exploring Britain by Narrowboat.
We depart from Hassall Green top lock after Shaun has a go on a potters wheel with hilarious results! We make our way down the Wheelock Flight of locks, part of the Cheshire Locks (or Heartbreak Hill), towards Wheelock where we moor up for the night.
The next morning, after temperatures plunged to -6C, the canal is iced over! We set off towards Middlewich, cutting a noisy path through the ice. We check out the Sandbach Flashes, the salt mining history of Middlewich, and we moor in the noisiest place ever!

So happy that you two are continuing to cruise during the winter when a few of the other boattubers moor up for the winter. You two seem to be decidedly cheerful living on your boat this winter. The Wardle Canal is the shortest canal in the UK at 154 feet (47 m), this connects the Trent and Mersey Canal to the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal. The Wardle Canal also has one lock on it. It was built in 1829 so that the navigation authority of the Trent and Mersey Canal could maintain control over the junction. (This piece is thanks to Wikipedia)
The 'wich' refers to a salt town. Hence in that area you have Middlewich, Nantwich & Northwich. All of which are in the salt mining area.
I also liked the filming of the ice breaking at canal level.

Hi boys top video yet again your at the lock I stopped at for the night the pub is not to bad for food and the chip shop is ok and the road is very quiet at night. You never no if you go straight on you may see my narrow boat if the new owners have not pick it by then. I do so miss being on the water. Just didn’t get to use it for a year coming up to 2 years now. Have fun lads may see you out and about one day.
I really didn't like it at Kings Lock moorings. Way too noisy. The lorries rumbling all night and a boat behind us with the noisest generator in Europe! 😂

Foxes Afloat I must of got a good night or it may have been because we had a very long day that day was not good spent a lot of time fixing the boat electric problem took a long time to find it then the locks but all part time f the fun.

Glorious weather and scenery but somewhere there's somebody's grandma without a hat. That chip shop used to be great but not been for a couple of years.
