Potential is the keyword. The MonsterVerse has wasted quite a lot of that. Especially since they've taken the MCU route of polluting their once realatively balanced films with terrible comedy. Hopefully the constant flopping of capeshit films stuffed with that type of unfunny humor shows Legendary that issue as that and some of the overall unserious writing is what a lot of people's gripes boil down to. The tone of 2014 with the action of KotM.

@@LittleCisco2015 The mutos were okay. They weren't great, but they worked as a kaiju design. (Kinda like Zilla, who wasn't a good Godzilla, but worked as a standalone creature.) What made the mutos work for me is their EMP abilities, which in our digital reality is a very real danger our society fears. Kaiju and other monsters are made from societal fears.

C'mon man, MV villains deserves more respect. The big one skullcrawler is an amazingly well designed, detailed informed, vicious looking and well written lore kaiju you could ever ask for.
Mutos are literally the most creative Kaijus created in the godzilla franchise especially Muto prime which are designed to eliminate and hunt gojiras. Possessing incredible abilities, such as manipulating earth structure to create massive earthquakes.
Shinomuras are also fantastic. Long, hunted kaijus that Godzilla just couldn't put an end on it. Terrifying looking shapeshifting kaijus with a Venom plus Hedorah like biological anatomy.
Camazotz is not far behind, a legit threatening kaiju who gave Kong a run for his money. Has a good build up to it and amazing well drawn action sequences
They didn't even do Ghidorah nor Mechagodzilla less dirty either. MV Ghidorah is an astounding looking Titan with amazing effects and new cool abilities such as generating storms and regeneration.
MV Mecha G on the other hand is the best Mecha G in terms of close combat. It has its own original design and really awesome, dreadful moments when he beat up the Big G
