I started MTG in 9th edition, the last core set with white borders, so seeing white bordered FAB cards is very nostalgic to me. I hope the supply issue gets figured out so this can be the cheap accessible product it's obviously designed to be.
I enjoy the white borders as well they look good to white sleeve backgrounds. Been lucky with the 2 boxes i've gotten so far, well one at least pulled a fyendells spring tunic finally, as a newer player it was a very happy moment, and a command and conquer in the same box.

Definitely thought i was having deja vu whilst watching you open your packs, im all the way over in Australia, and we both opened the exact same seeded box, my enlightened strike was also the last pack in the box. I have the exact same majestics as you, and i feel even the rares were the same, I definitely remember opening up a yellow sigil and thinking damn, i really need 1 more red sigil as my first pack.
So far everyone I've seen open one of these has pulled exactly 12 majestics. Unfortunately I haven't seen a single legendary be pulled. I know their out there (I think) so hopefully we get to see one soon.

Like the look of the white board. While it seems a little early for it, hope they get a lot more out to keep the price down. But these will be very needed with the up coming sets this year

Grabbed a couple of packs at my LGS 1) foil packs...what happened to paper packs?? 2) the cards look...cheap? I was instantly reminded of the old Doomtrooper CCG and not in a good way.
This should be good to pick up any missing chase cards for people. It will take a couple weeks for the market to figure pricing out for the singles. But if its the difference is good enough I think I'd pick up any legendary cards that I'm missing. I think I've got playsets of just about everything else. Are Fabled cards going to be in the set?
In my opinion this was absolutely needed in the US to counteract the rarity disparity between initial majestics and the newer pull rates. Hopefully, this’ll make cards like art of war and E-strike a little more accessible. At this point I feel that unlimited product is only going to be a very long term investment anyways

It's honestly not a bad way to go if you can get it at a good price! It'll give you a huge smattering of cards for 8 classes so you can try a lot of decks if youre keen on building them on your own
I played beta in magic. When unlimited came out with the white borders it was equally as jarring. We literally didn’t let people use the white bordered cards for a month or two because they were so weird to us. Saying g the game was different back then is an understatement. But the feeling with the white borders now is bringing me back. I may need a few boxes of the white border cards just because.
You have great enthusiasm when you produce your videos, very upbeat! Hmm, not paper wrappers? It shows Made in Japan on the box bottom and probably on each pack. I think it is cool that you got this box locally and recommend buying from LGSs, either at brick-and-mortar store or online. But let's be real, CFB Marketplace stores cannot compete with the extremely low prices from CSL either. It's ironic that they are killing their own Marketplace, lol. But seriously, it is really great how you encourage supporting Local Game Stores!! Really like the way you chatter during your videos, very real time, stream of consciousness and not overly scripted.
I really don't think this is that weird. Coming from Magic, where white borders meant reprints back in the day, this seems normal to me. Also I think this set was created before Everfest, hence the plastic packaging. James seems to have a lot of this game planned out from the beginning so it wouldn't surprise me if these were printed before Everfest.
I learned mtg back in 1995 on 4th edition, I just never thought I'd ever see a contemporary game do white borders haha also they said that some sets will use plastic wraps since not all facilities can manufacture the paper wraps - new main sets will be paper though like Uprising :)

Hopefully the price drops on the singles of these cards. Currently the prices are pretty high compared to Unlimited versions. Also no skull cap kind of sucks. i know they just reprinted it in everfest but still would have been nice to have 3 versions.

I like the White Borders. ~ Remember thinking the same thing when mtg did the white border cards for 'Unlimited' (just a reprint set) and did not buy as much cuz thought poorly of them. One thing I have learned from '93 to now is 'lose any emotional thoughts or feelings' and just buy. I let emotions get the best of me and gave most of my early mtg cards to my nephew & niece to use. Yeah...so many $$money cards down the drain as they did not keep them or the cards were trashed. Emotions is the mind killer with tcgs. If you like the game or tcg set then dont think just buy if able to.
A little late to the video, but I really like the history pack concept. Personally I really like black border cards, but I'm not opposed to the white border
It's no more rare than any other Legendary! It's just a very useful card that goes in many (but not all) decks. You'll only ever need 1 though since you can just swap it between decks

As a new player, it's amusing to me seeing you like "this is so weird" since the first like 8 boosters I bought were history 1 boosters to try and get some good brute cards.
My only problem with the history packs is that there is no foils. I'm the kind of person that likes shiny cards and making a deck look pretty. Just got me some of my finishing foils for my azalea deck.
Some of these don’t look bad in white border but overall I’m not crazy about it. Especially since black border unlimited is reasonable in price right now.
I picked up a box. No L but a decent spread on the 12 majestics. People are being so stupid about single prices right now, having them at or higher than unlimited. That tome should be 3-5$, not $13.
i wont to play the game, how much to spend for a good meta deck? and how stable is the price? Like in yugioh, ur deck is 2 cent worth after 6 months lel
To be fair, saying you won’t play then asking how much it costs to play shows your bias a little bit, but I’ll bite cause I love this game. The meta shifts so costs change, but I would say to be a competitive player building a meta deck might cost $400-$1000. It literally depends on the meta at the time though. As someone who plays a fair bit of Magic the Gathering, I can tell you that this game is literally the same price to play on the whole. Yes you can build a Burn deck for Modern that only costs $100, but that is the exception not the rule. Most Meta Modern decks cost $500-$1200. If you want to compete in Magic in any format and you buy real cards you will spend a similar amount of money. I have two cEDH decks worth $700-$1000. So I view them as identical. As far as the value of my flesh and blood decks, they have held consistently and will likely hold their value way better than a game like Yugioh as long as the game survives.

The main thing I find weird about white borders is how frequently people "virtue signal" at how much they hate them. It's absurd the level of hyperbole people use with their hate of these cards. It gives off a really off-putting elitist feeling. "I better tell everyone how much I hate white borders so they'll know what an OG TCG player I am."
This set was a waste they didn't print enough of it to make an impact of the prices of staple cards. I'm still seeing $65-$70 for white border command and conquer.
Sooo.. they didn't up pullrates or anything on these? It kind of seems like there's absolutely no point in this outside of them printing the sets in other languages. Though they could have just printed the original sets in other languages, no?
The point of this existing is more the fact that it does exist for new stores and as we get further and further from the first three out of print sets. Locally just last last night at the armory there were three new players and the majority of them were waiting and excited to get these packs to dive into the game. I think it will make more sense as a product the further into the future we go
@@Norien711 Yeah sure but they should have at least made the legendaries more common. That's the entire issue I have with this game and newer players have for the gamr for that matter - is the fact that legendaries and majestics are pretty much required at a certain point. It should be 3-4 legendaries per one of these boxes, and at least 1 majestic per pack. If this is truly for the players to play with, then rarity shouldn't be this extreme as is the case with the regular releases. Otherwise, there is no draw to this product at all.
@@tylerisdrawing9913 3-4 legendaries per box would be TOO much, but as it is right now, where its 1 per 3-4 boxes...thats just WAY TOO LOW a drop rate for legendaries and keeping it this way prevents too many players from acquiring key pieces needed for playing this game...
My videos on there help bring people into the game - especially MTG players who watch their stuff. Just because I contribute to their content doesn't mean I have to support their sales - which I don't. My promo code doesn't even work on CSL - only on the marketplace where you can buy from LGSs. I've only ever recommended buying from the LGSs on the marketplace or other stores like FABFoundry and FABTCGCards. I've spoken directly to LSS about this and all I can say is that the people ranting don't know the whole story. I also find it funny that places like SCG (who literally did the same thing....AND fired all their writers) and shitty distributors who held back product get a free pass. Weather intentional or not the big picture isn't being looked at here - CFB may be doing shitty stuff but they're not the only one by a long shot.

This is great to get more cards on the market but it will make the amount of bulk cards pulled from boxes larger and will deteriorate value from player’s collections in the future. When we are 20 sets in and you want to sell your EVR stuff to buy the newest set cards they will be mostly worthless because of overprinting. It doesn’t feel good to buy a booster box open it to find one card worth $40 and the rest being only playable. Now it’s great because more players can get cards for cheap but when they want to buy more cards their cards will be worthless
@@Xadrian1000 If the only point of printing the cards was for them to be played with, they would just print full sets for players to purchase. Inherently, there is a collectability component to collectible card games; otherwise there is no point in having card rarities.
@@sergioperez2771 That's right, but the White Border Cards in the History Sets are literally made for playing and not for collecting. That's the single purpose for them to exist. You can always collect the black border cards, because their print run is limited. The printing of white border versions of rare cards doesn't effect the value of the black ones.
@@Xadrian1000 100% but the Benefit of Tradable Card Games is that the cards retain value which can then be traded to get new cards. Their are plenty of non TCG games which are great. LSS could only sell singles and not boxes and everyone could just get all the cards they need direct. TCGs are great because you can have fun playing with one set and trade the cards into the next so you don’t need to continue to buy new cards all the time
@@Thefloppytaco Rare black border cards won't loose their value, when they are printed in a white border version. You can always sell your rare black border cards, if you need money for new cards, because their value is not effected by white border reprints.
I personally like the white borders. The printing quality on the art also seems more more crisp and clear IMO

There are cards that need a reprint badly. Even though unlimited boxes are dirt cheap. There are tough pulls.

Wizard cards look pretty cool in the white boarder. I like the blue border with the white. Cool opening.

Doing a price check today, a white border Command and Conquer is only about $70. The black border is still about $75-$80.

That's the entire issue I have with this game and newer players have for the gamr for that matter - is the fact that legendaries and majestics are pretty much required at a certain point. It should be 3-4 legendaries per one of these boxes, and at least 1 majestic per pack. If this is truly for the players to play with, then rarity shouldn't be this extreme as is the case with the regular releases. Otherwise, there is no draw to this product at all.
@@tylerisdrawing9913 3-4 legendaries per box would be TOO much, but as it is right now, where its 1 per 3-4 boxes...thats just WAY TOO LOW a drop rate for legendaries and keeping it this way prevents too many players from acquiring key pieces needed for playing this game...

My videos on there help bring people into the game - especially MTG players who watch their stuff. Just because I contribute to their content doesn't mean I have to support their sales - which I don't. My promo code doesn't even work on CSL - only on the marketplace where you can buy from LGSs. I've only ever recommended buying from the LGSs on the marketplace or other stores like FABFoundry and FABTCGCards. I've spoken directly to LSS about this and all I can say is that the people ranting don't know the whole story.
I also find it funny that places like SCG (who literally did the same thing....AND fired all their writers) and shitty distributors who held back product get a free pass. Weather intentional or not the big picture isn't being looked at here - CFB may be doing shitty stuff but they're not the only one by a long shot.

I hate white frames .. they remind me of classic cards
This is great to get more cards on the market but it will make the amount of bulk cards pulled from boxes larger and will deteriorate value from player’s collections in the future. When we are 20 sets in and you want to sell your EVR stuff to buy the newest set cards they will be mostly worthless because of overprinting. It doesn’t feel good to buy a booster box open it to find one card worth $40 and the rest being only playable. Now it’s great because more players can get cards for cheap but when they want to buy more cards their cards will be worthless
I don‘t get your problem. These cards are printed to play with, not to make money with it.
@@Xadrian1000 If the only point of printing the cards was for them to be played with, they would just print full sets for players to purchase. Inherently, there is a collectability component to collectible card games; otherwise there is no point in having card rarities.
@@sergioperez2771 That's right, but the White Border Cards in the History Sets are literally made for playing and not for collecting. That's the single purpose for them to exist.
You can always collect the black border cards, because their print run is limited. The printing of white border versions of rare cards doesn't effect the value of the black ones.
@@Xadrian1000 100% but the Benefit of Tradable Card Games is that the cards retain value which can then be traded to get new cards. Their are plenty of non TCG games which are great. LSS could only sell singles and not boxes and everyone could just get all the cards they need direct. TCGs are great because you can have fun playing with one set and trade the cards into the next so you don’t need to continue to buy new cards all the time
@@Thefloppytaco Rare black border cards won't loose their value, when they are printed in a white border version. You can always sell your rare black border cards, if you need money for new cards, because their value is not effected by white border reprints.
