Lately, I’ve been using the Strike King Rage Bug as a trailer on my 1/2oz Chatterbaits. I rig it with the claws horizontally so that the body is flat. I fish around a lot of laydowns, trees and submerged branches and having that flat body trailer prevents my Chatterbait from rolling over and getting snagged in the wood. Other than that, the Hog Farmer Spunk Shad in the 4.5 and 5.5 are my go-to trailers.

I enjoy fishing that as well! If I’m throwing something other than the Slobberknocker around wood I like the rage bug and also that 6th sense stroker craw. For a lot of the same reasons you mentioned!

Cool! I’ll have to check out the Stroker Craw.

It’s got a wide flat body like the rage bug and almost grub like craws on it so it kicks a bit more than the rage bug. It’s pretty awesome on a bladed jig!

Then I’m going to DEFINITELY check them out. Do you go with the 3.3’s on your 1/2oz or larger Bladed Jigs?

I typically don’t use a bladed jig any larger than a 1/2 oz but yeah I use the 3.3 on all of my bladed jigs. If you are using a longer shank hook on the bladed jig I’d recommend trimming the skirt down just a touch to give your craws a little bit more action. Trimming the skirt on a bladed jig is slept on so much! Puffs that skirt up more to give it a bigger profile.

I’ve heard good things about them but have not tried them!

More bulk, less hunting by the blade.

You are exactly correct! The exact reason I don’t use a paddle tail trailer

@740_bass_fishing the Zako is too bulky for me, it takes away from the blade which is what does the work. You'll get more action from a paddle tail that's not thick at the head than a Zako. The Swimon is one that's flown under the radar for years now. The GP Chartreuse with a B Hite DLight is a TN River killer. Chick, Pickwick, KY Lake.

I don’t mind the zako but it’s probably the trailer that I use the least. I really like the zako on a bladed jig without a skirt. The action is really good. Especially if you saw the action on the video of it swimming. The swimon is awesome! I really like that GP Chartreuse with a blue craw strike king tungsten thunder cricket especially when the bluegill are up really shallow.
