- This is my first time at a BP Toy Fair - These events are held at the Sandown Park Racecourse 4 times at this venue, as well as being held at other venues across the country.
Will this be a good place to sell Lego at or not? Let's find out!

The toy fair may have been so-so for Lego sales, but your video was enjoyable and entertaining. Thanks for another great video, Iain!
Hi Mark. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video
It looked a great show (maybe not so much for Lego though!!) but I can now hear the gaps in my 1970's & 80's Star Wars figure collection, calling to me!
Are you going to be selling at either of the Brighton shows?
Brick Show in June or Brick Festival in July?
Hi - not so good for Lego, but my friend Duncdid well with his Star Wars action figures.
Yes, I will nbe at the Brighton Brick Show for both days on the week of the 22nd and 23rd June. I won't be at the Brick Festival in July though
I might see you at the Brisk Show then. As it's a new one I thought I'd try to pop over and see what it's like.
If I do go, I'll make sure that I watch your pre-show video, to check what you'll be selling !!!
Thanks. Hopefully see you there.
Good to see you again. Great to have a good chat with you.
I'm not sure it was a Lego enthusiast event, unfortunately, but was good to see some old retro toys 👍🏻
Hi - good to meet you again too. Definitely not an event for Lego sellers unfortunately. My friend Duncan did well though with his Star Wars action figures
I would’ve bought the scout trooper set. Big fan of that one.
Thanks. It's OK, as I can take the sets I didn't sell to my next festival
I’ve been to the same Sandown toy fair and used to help a friend out who sold a mixture of things. It was around 25 years ago and notice the venue hasn’t changed much. I remember there used to be a lot of thefts and often had announcements on the tannoy warning other sellers.
Hi Simon. Didn't realise the fair had been on that long.
I'm always cautious about potential thefts at these events, but luckily thee didn't appear to be anything like that going on yesterday, on my stall at least!
Big congrats to Dunc for getting to his first show. Very happy to see he did well 😊
Thanks. Yes, he was pretty happy with how his day went.
Sorry to hear that you haven't done too well. I've done two BP events and they haven't been very good at all - I barely made back my costs both times. They are good fun to have a look round though!
Thanks Daniel. Unfortunately they are not the best if you are just selling Lego. My friend Duncan did quite well though
All about experience Ian and well done you tried. Onwards and upwards . Look forward to your next video . Thankyou👌
Matt from Dorset
ThanknMatt. Yes, unfortunately it wasn't a very successful day sales wise, but still glad I went and gave it a try
Oh wow, just round the corner from me. Had the Mayfair at the green today too. Many years ago Sandown held a really good model show each year; plenty of RC , model kits etc but that seems to have stopped.
Thanks for watching and for your comments
But you tried and now you have experience! Well done! Have a great day 😀
Yes, I gave it a go.
I went to the Crawley Brick Festival today - a new location, good steady crowd of people in a large event area.
I think you might have sold a fair bit, your reasonable prices would have been lapped up!
Most of the stalls were asking ridiculous prices for currently available sets, and as for retired sets, I'm not sure where they were getting their ideas for pricing from but they were well, well above actual value.
Hi Darren. I did try to get into the Crawley BF but was not able to as the traders tickets ran out in seconds.
Yes, it's a shame when people overprice their sets.
I went to this for the first time the other day like you, i was there looking for 80's / 90's toys, i did think it was quite dominated by old cars / train stalls for the most part. I picked up some deals but not as many as i hoped as some stalls seemed to be charging more then eBay prices for items so came back with a load of unspent cash. I like Lego and did see your stall but have no idea what the value of items are in that space, i have just owned Lego Ideas Ghostbusters, Cusso Back To The Future which sold well for me in the past. You & your friend seemed very friendly, some of the stall owners looked a bit stern and felt like i was being watched like a eagle encase of theft.
Hi. Thanks for you comments.
There was definitely a good mix of different things to buy at this event. Some stuff can be expensive, and it's probably wise to check the price of things, if you can, before buying anything.
Good video Ian if I was there I would’ve got the scout trooper helmet from ya! But I’m in the US 😅
Hi Alan. That's OK. Items that didn't sell, I will just take to my next event
Good interesting video Iain. As they say in the carry on films, "you cant knock a coconut down every time"🤣🤣😂. Seriously though mate, really hope you broke even. Looking forward to your follow up video. cheers.
Thanks Wayne. Unfortunately not that successful for me today, but my friend Duncan did well, which was great, for his first ever event.
Spelling mistake in thumbnail Iain - it should be: "Will IT be a success?"
Oops! Well spotted. I can amend that, thanks
Great video sry u haven't had a big crowd looking at ur Lego ian fingers crossed for the next Lego event 😊
Thanks. Not a great success for me today sales wise, but my friend Duncan had a very successful day.
@@iainsbricks He did very well. Oh Ian I don't know if it is in your Tesco but there is Lego deals. Don't know will it be different themes then mine in my country. Happy building 😁
Certainly seemed to be more of a retro action figures and models show. It sounded very busy, unfortunately doesn’t seem to attract Lego fans.
Hi Barry, no, unfortunately Lego does not sell well at these events. Glad I gave it a try though
Great video Iain!
Thanks Ash
But will is be a success 😋
Time will tell....
Yes it's Goodwood they call Glorious Goodwood, it's on the July course.
Lol! Trust me to get my racecourses mixed up!
It's an easy mistake to make, if you don't bet on horse racing.
good video its Esher - pronounced ee·shuh
Thanks Chris. I did check the pronunciation of Esher before my video, and some people pronounced it esh-er and others ee-church. My apologies for choosing the wrong one! 😳
@iainsbricks no worries mate
I am sorry that you didn’t sell much. It sounds very much that the BP toy fairs are not for Lego. It sounds like your experience was very much the same as one at Doncaster Race ourse
Hi Adam, unfortunately it wasn't a great day sales wise for me, but my friend Duncan did well.
I think the BP Toy Fairs are aimed at vintage toys so that would make sense. When i say vintage not necessarily all DINKY toy era and trains but also toys from the 70/80/90/2000's eras.
Go brickfest much better
Yes, I do normally go to Brick Festivals, but I thought I'd give this event a try.
