The soybean hoppers used go to Pilgrim's feed mill in Canton before the mill closed. They could only take a certain number to the mill, so they would leave the extras in the siding here
Thank you so much Joel! I love filming GNRR, so I'm glad you enjoy the GNRR videos :) that shot at Toonigh was spur of the moment, but it made for a cool angle I thought. It was cool to see them from above and the leaves on that small tree were a beautiful shade of yellow!
They run northbound on Mondays out of Elizabeth and arrive in Tate around 2-4pm depending on how much work they have on their way north. They run up and back to Whitestone out of Tate on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. On Wednesdays, they run south in the morning (OD at 6am I believe) and back north in the afternoon/evening. Fridays, they run southbound to Elizabeth (also on duty at 6am in Tate) and arrive by 1pm or so. This time frame also depends on the amount of switching to do on their way south. All this being said, since we are between Christmas and New Year's, their operations may be different. At a guess, they might run as normal from now until Friday since that is a day off for New Year's. I hope for your sake they will run as normal!
Awesome footage. I especially like the dappled light on the cars going through the woods.
Thank you! I agree, the light streaming through the trees really gives a cool effect.
What are the soybean hoppers for? Is there an industry on the siding?

Great video John! Always love seeing GNRR chase videos! I love that shot of the train departing Toonigh as well.

I’m in the area currently, staying actually about 10 minutes from the yard at Big Canoe. When do these trains run in the Tate area?
