This presents something of a pickle for the Royal Family and the institution of monarchy.
Where has the money come from? If even a penny of tax payer revenue has been used to bail him out of this self inflicted mess, the growing Republican movement in the UK may find itself gaining traction.
If the Queen - who has an enormous private fortune - gave Andrew money, some may argue that her wealth only exists because of the agreement between the British people, Parliament and the Crown regarding a constitutional monarchy, therefore the spending of such wealth ought to be ethical and certainly not to smooth the path of an alleged sex offender, son or not.
If it has been sourced from other places, why? What is the motivation behind such generosity, for a man who no longer has any influence?
The Royal Family must be transparent about where this money came from and do it promptly, or else this will snowball into another monster.

This is why in some countries, including mine, law enforcement has to prosecute crimes. It's not optional. Settlements and deals don't let you off the hook.
She can still go to law enforcement and the L.E can press charges on her behalf if she gives enough evidence. Both her and A will be sucritinized , they will have to go trial and dirt will be dug up on both of them,,emails , call logs, photos etc .. but seeing the astronomical amount of money she received,l doubt it .. but l think something other than just money stopped her ,she would also have been under intense scrutiny if she’s to be cross examined,

But I believe that if during a civil case (or its proceedings) evidence of a crime that has so far not been tried turns up, the obligation to investigate that crime kicks in again. What jurisdictional issues count prevent a trial of a crime? Immunity?
@@supernova7848 That's the thing, independent of whether "she presses charges", in a sane environment crimes are prosecuted by society (law enforcement) not by victims.
That's essential to ensure that victims cannot be coerced to back down and also to reflect the fact that crimes create damage to society beyond the damage done to direct victims.

I don't blame her at all for settling. It would be a long, drawn out, very public trial with all the media circus and hoopla that surrounds such events. Reporters parked around her house, hounding her every time she dared to step foot outside. It would go one for months, maybe even years.
