This game is the reason why i started to play fighting games and become a Fate fan. I used to play this with my little brother on the PS2. Idk how to do any moves back then and the game language is in Japanese, I was so confused looking at the command list cause the symbols for the buttons is in kanji. I was able to figure out the basic mechanic through trial and error, messing with the training settings to learn how the Holy Grail and the Command Seals mechanics work. I also figures out how to read the command list by noticing that the kanji is color coded to the buttons on the controller. I was having a blast figuring things out and that enjoyment of figuring out a fighting game carries over to this day. Since i can't read Japanese i was using everything else to made up my own story, the character moveset, the special character interaction like how Shirou uses a different super againts Kirei, the arcade's CG and rival battles, how characters have a matching command seals, etc. When the UBW anime airing i was reintroduced to the series and was shocked at how many plot stuff i had guessed correctly, from then on i watched all the anime, movies and read the VN's that's available. It made me a fan of the series and made Shirou one of my favorite characters of all time. I fucking love this game!
That is correct, She was not in the original Melty Blood back then until Type Lumina was announced, she was added but still retains her Unlimited Codes moveset.
Many reasons 1. It's japanese only on the ps2 and arcades, although it did get localized in the psp, this still severely limit a already small number of people who really like anime fighters, giving people overseas no other choice but to import it. 2. Franchise recognition, Unlimited Codes released in the mid to late 2000s, when Fate as a series was not as known as it is now. 3. 8ing being the developer, 8ing in the ps2 era busted out a lot of fighting games that were Kusoge as hell, in which unlimited codes so happen to be one of them
The Arcade version, huh? The PS2/PSP versions have a bunch of extra characters: Bazett, Leysritt, Saber Alter and Zero Lancer/Diarmund (this was before Zero was made into an anime, btw), as well as one of the better single player content where you can unlock a variety of minigames involving a priest speed eating mapo tofu before he passes out from the excessive spice (I'm not joking). The PSP version has a bunch of extra skins but also simplifies the inputs for specials from quarter circles to double taps. While useful for beginners there's no option for more traditional inputs and I don't know if there's a mod that restores the inputs to those from the arcade. If there is something negative to say about this game, it's that like Melty Blood, it assumes you're familiar with all the routes from the VN it was based on and it shows with the roster (The launch roster wasn't too spoiler heavy with Gil as the only offender, but then you have Dark Sakura as one of the 3 hidden character who along with Altoria spoiled Heaven's Feel a full decade before the movie came out with Luvia as a bonus character from Hollow Ataraxia and it only gets worse with the extra characters added in home ports). God, this game needs a HD remaster so bad.

I played this and also still playing the PSP version! The Fate Series is one of the anime I love. Kirei has the Shun Goku Satsu command special (well Capcom was part of this game)...
