  • This is a tour of my Moon Garden in Zone 10a California. It was a lot of work and a big space but for me the results have been fantastic. A moon garden is a space that is mostly white flowered or silvery plants which could be seen in moonlight.

    Nice job! You’ve done a lot of work. I loved your love for the plants. It was interesting to see a garden from such a different growing zone. I’m a 6a in Ohio.

    Thank you! I’m sitting here in Wisconsin knowing we have a long time before green things grow again. Most of the flowers you’re growing are annuals or houseplants here. Your video certainly cheered me up garden-wise. Wow! 🌿

      Thank you! I am excited to add many more flowers to my garden's . I am thinking about getting a hoop house so that I can start them from seed. Buying all the flowers is just getting so expensive.

    In 9b, I have the dusty miller, gaura, gazanias. I have to get a hibiscus this year. You might like butterfly bush. They can take the heat and can be used so many different ways. Thanks for Sharing.

    Just found your channel and love it! Subbed. I was so happy to see that you’re in my zone too - I live in North County SD! Love getting inspiration from your garden. The supertunias in your video - did you have flowers all year-long??

    • @flower-n-flour366
      @flower-n-flour366  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. The supertunias in the moon garden lasted many months but died when we had a heat wave as they had no shade there. I have some supertunia bubblegum vista's that did survive. They thinned out quite a bit and were very leggy. I have cut them way back and I see regrowth! I also tried to propagate them and I was successful however I was trying to harden them off and I forgot about them. Unfortunately they did not survive.

    What a beautiful garden! Love how you created your own spaces. I too am looking to create a moon garden here in 10a, and this was great inspiration to see what actually works and how big each can get. By chance do you know what kind of roses those white climbing ones where? They are just lovely.

    Recycled materials, re-seeding, planting cuttings, installing hardscape as you go, are all great decisions. Gardening requires patience! 90% of your plants are very familiar to me; I'm in S. CA as well. The sooner we can establish trees to provide shade and refuge for wildlife, the better. I actually saw a red-headed woodpecker on the phone pole in front of my house! I like to layer containers near trees or shrubs, so the water can do double duty. White ayssum I planted 10 years ago come back every year, to spill out of pots, or grow from cracks in the pavement. I'm bracing myself for the water restrictions looming. :S Do you do any kind of water catchment? The telescope with the TV screen is so awesome. I love to sit out in the garden at night, just listening to it rustle and sigh. :)

    • @flower-n-flour366
      @flower-n-flour366  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! No I don't have any water catchment right now. We get very little rain so I am not sure it would be worth the effort. We have red-headed woodpeckers in my area too. They are often in one of my avocado trees. I also have red tailed hawks hovering above everyday. I love to gaze at my garden. I have much to learn!

    All of the long-time locals by me say that the days where you can enact diy-to-code without succumbing to a government-owned/run/managed permitting process is over. When you break a few rules in property law, there is no statute of limitations. One day, the landowner owning this property will be held as equally responsible as someone like me, who actually goes to the administrative offices in downtown San Diego. As someone who once tried to purchase 55 acres and boulevard california, and was quoted a pay to pay scheme by several County and Federal agencies, I have a different perspective. The average annual real estate tax for a downtown San Diego condominium owner is 2.8% of my annual real estate tax rate in North County San Diego. And yet, my roads are deadly walking/strolling along in a wheelchair/jogging along/🛼 ing/🚲 ing/schools filled with ineptly negligent staff/an electric heating bill in the thousands of dollars per month for inefficient radiant heating (in the ceiling) systems. These houses passed underwriting. Now, insurance is pulled from us, forcing homeowners like me (once NYC resident) to pay $3,000 extra per month mandatory on our mortgage or go to foreclosure? GTHOOH!!!!!!!!!
