My first time experiencing something like this and it’s freaking me out, I’m definitely calling the doctor tomorrow.

Currently experiencing it too, it's important to combat it with treatment because it could get worse without treatment. Mine got so bad that in my jawbones and bottom teeth that I thought I had a dental tooth infection, so I literally went to the dentist and they said I was good. So once I went to a clinic, the doctor took one quick look and confirmed it.

@@Isaac-ev3nq wow I hope you’re able to recover soon! That sounds so painful… I ended up not calling the doctor because I felt better today but I plan on calling tomorrow for sure. Sorry if this is tmi but I’m on day 3 and there’s no longer pain but my ear is very clogged and seems like it’s trying to get rid of the infection… Day 1 and 2 were hell so I definitely want to get antibiotics to make sure it doesn’t regress or return in the future… I never knew ears could be so scary lol

@@yurihime9739 Thank you for the well wishes! I've been experiencing it for around 3-5 days as well. They gave me antibiotics and steroids yesterday. A doctor can easily take a look to see if your ear is inflamed/still bad or not. I hope you can get yours fully healed as well ♥

I have right now, haven't had it since I was a kid. No idea how I got it. Had to go to the ER this morning, I cannot believe how bad it hurt, could hardly move my jaw, they gave me a shot of high powered anti-inflammatory pain killer, then gave me a prescription for it, ibuprofen wouldn't touch it. I rolled my leg up in a very fast moving winch two years ago, bunch of mucsle and tissue damage, plus snapped both bones, had to get a rod put in. As far as pain goes, this ear infection is worse.

I had this and it was soooo unbelievably painful. The pain radiated all over the left side of my face. I couldn't even open my mouth to brush my teeth it hurt sooo bad. Was misdiagnosed and given oral antibiotics, which after several days still didn't work. I had to contact an emergency out-of-hours doctor who gave me an antibiotic ear spray instead and I felt relief within a few uses. I love that doctor!!!

I feel you!! I had the specific pain for at least 2 days, I couldn't sleep well especially the second day. I also had fever like 38c and threw up at the night due to the pain. I took some painkillers but they worked for only few hours, there weren't any position to please my ear pain so, the only thing I could was crying. We called the doctor and I had to wait like for eight hours by that time and that were the most painful hours of that day. I did experience it once and now it's even worse. i currently have it. mine is horrible. i have no hearing in my left ear, i cant sleep on that side, the ear drops they gave me will not even go into my ear due to the canal swelling. i went back today and all the lady did was put a piece of expanding cotton in my ear, put my ear drops in, and told me i was good and it should reduce swelling. at the moment a q-tip cant even enter my ear. my drops cant go in either. this is affecting my ear, behind my ear, and my left side of my jaw. it hurts to eat, put pressure on it, etc. i cant hear out of it besides a muffled buzzing sound. my ear is throbbing. i couldn’t sleep last night due to the pain. i have been going through this since thursday and it’s only getting worse. i’m very sensitive to loud sounds in my left ear as well. i cant yawn, cough, sneeze, chew, hiccup, etc without having the feeling of my ear from being stabbed.

i have earpain already from Tuesday last week. the pain you described i had for like two or three full days. no fever but haventn slept the first two nights. like you said, eating or opening jaw hurted alot. now its better and the eardrops work and i think i go for a drop lesser now. it still have some moments were it sometimes hurts but its not any worse than last tuesday and wednesday. it was crazy painfull. yeah, didnt slept at all for two days. now its strange that i still cant hearleft side hundred procent but the hearing gets again although i sometimes still have an itch and also some points of the day it hurts like a nagging pain in left ear were i have the sickness. i hadnt any fever. i'm just scared that the pain and itch never goes away after a week of painfull and not hearing hudnred procent. i'm scared now to listen with my earbuds so i think i would never do that again. i'm going to look for Headphones wich fits for my Narrow Earcannal. i was born with narrow ears and have clogged ears every year, sometimes even thrice a year i need to get it out. its since the last time, the water didnt come completely out when they drained it. it also hurted. was a few weeks somewhat better. but then since last week it was from bad to worse. now its a sometimes hurting feeling and annoying itch sometime. i'm afraid that i go deaf because now i already have again clogged right ear so my hearing is very bad. listening to music in the future would be with headphones and not earbuds because i think thats the reason i have somuch trouble right now these last weeks.
you will get over the pain but i dont know if it would heal properly. its already a week and still not fully healed from it. i am a bit frustrated and anxiety and panic. i still have that impending doom that i would go deaf but i doubt that that realy would happen. tommorow i gonna get checked by an eardoctor and i hope he can give me relieve and also answer my many many questions i have.

hello everyone, I currently have swimmers ear so i just wanna say the symptoms and what you'll most likely get prescribed. your ear will get red on the outside. the doctor will tell you it's swelling, this is no concern its a common symptom you may or may not experience pain. ive only experienced pain like a little bit of times. your ear will be warm, itll be itchy. you may get hearing loss and a feeling of fullness. youll get prescribed 2 pill bottles so you can switch back to back instead of waiting 4 hours. i recommened eating after 1-2 hours of digesting a pill. i ate pizza right after i took my ear drops and my pill. youll get prescribed special eardrops made for ear infections instead of the ones for earwax youd have lying around so those probably wouldnt work, should resolve in about 7-10 days :)

For anyone wondering I had it for about a year and half and it kept coming back to both of my ears..it got to a point where it was unbearably swollen and hurt so here’s what helped:
    1) For the pain from swelling using a hot compress if you don’t have one then grab a towel and soak it in hot water and then soak out the water and put it on your help (do it as many times as you want)
    2) I used clotrim drops and it took like one day for them to work…check any drops if you don’t find these or substitutes for them
Secondly u might think ur drops aren’t working bc your ears might be really blocked but dw it will work
    3) While u use these drops pls make sure u don’t get any water in your ears that includes while showering
What I did was use a plastic wrapper and wrapped it around my ears while showering. If you can’t do this everyday then do it until your treatment is complete. Also remember wax is good for your ears so the infection doesn’t happen again

I was given antibiotic ear drops, but i don’t think i finished the amount of days i was supposed to. I was fine for about two or three weeks until i found the same pain again, so i used the drops and it went away. over time, i’ve noticed water easily getting trapped in that same ear and it hurting a little, but after putting some vinegar and rubbing alcohol, in it, it went away. Now, It hurts again really bad and i have no idea what to do. I don’t want to take off weeks of practice again because i’ve already had to take a month off because of a injury flurry recently. I’ve got it in both ears, it’s either fungal or bacterial, need to go to doctors to get treatment, unless the treatment attacks both, prob need them cultured. Having scabby ears is annoying as hell. I’m having to pull the scabs away 3times a day, and the corners inside are well sore!

I'm gonna share what I'm going through cause I'm not sure if its swimmers ear or something else but I woke up one morning and my ear started hurting I thought it would go away within an hour or so but it didn't. The pain wasnt bad. My ear has been hurting for the past 5 days now. Third day my grandmother got me some ear relief stuff and that kinda helped with the pain, i also took some advil. Yesterday morning I kept waking up because of the pain. But I was enjoying my day yesterday did some shopping and out of no where my ear just started having intense pain. I could barely eat or talk. I texted my mother telling her what was going on she said I probably have swimmers ear and to get the stuff. We went to the drug store got the ear drops. The pain was so bad it was like throbbing and was enough to make me cry. I put some in my ear took advil and sent to dinner. I could open my mouth more and the pain was minimum. This morning I mean I was alright but noticed my eye was like sore, hurts to touch.
    So my symptoms are:
    -ear pain inside my ear
-hurts when I touch or pull my ear
    -hurts to open and talk
-low behind my ear it feels like there a small bump
-the right side of my face is swollen
    -throat is also swollen
    -ear pops when I swallow

I got this in my left ear and then in my right and then in both from over cleaning my ears, I then got a blocked ear tube as well.
It was at the stage where I was at the limit of pain killers I could take without overdosing and almost went to the hospital.
I used honey and this took the swelling down within ten min, regular clear honey, I put four drops in each ear.
I put four drops in one ear and held it there for a few mins, then turned my head and done the other one, got a bit sticky as it will leak back out the ear, but sticky is not painful.
4 drops of honey every few hours and its gone, the pain from the swelling went away and the heartbeat throb stopped.
Ears were still blocked but without pain and its such a huge relief if you cant get ear drops or DR appointment.

It takes a couple of days for the drops or the medicine to take effect. This time it took me almost the whole week before I could close my mouth again. I take cortisone and I am immunocompromised. Plus, my ear canals are really small. I get swimmer's ear at least two times a year - but now I don't feel it because of the cortisone. It got so bad the whole left side of my face was swollen and I couldn't close my mouth properly. So to the hospital I went to get some drops, and antibiotics, and get it cleaned again. When it's not one it's the other. Really annoying.

My home remedy and diagnosis/ experience:
I now realize after almost a week this is what I have, any touching around the ear hurts especially near the inner ear, and can feel it when I yawn
first I thought I had a pimple inside my ear canal because I’ve had one before on the inner part of the tragus (just outside the ear canal) and it was painful for a day or two till it popped but this is day 5 now and it’s not just a pinpoint area of pain now it’s the whole outer canal that hurts
My home remedy for sufficient relief so far:
    1) use carbamide peroxide drops to clean out any debris/ wax
    2) take 2 pieces of toilet paper (1square) and fold in half diagonally, the roll in one direction by twisting the tip between your fingers untill about half the tp square is tightly rolled with a pointed tip
    3) use these as q tips (although they’re much better to use because a: they don’t stimulate the already painful area as much as qtips b: they’re far less rigid so you can twist them deeper into the ear without worrying about eardrum damage) to dry out outer ear canal & extract any remaining debris, to keep them tightly rolled you have to roll them into the ear in the same direction you twisted them
    4) get something like vinegar or alcohol that has a strong antibacterial effect
    5) crush up an ibuprofen into fine powder
    6) dip a q-tip in your vinegar or alcohol, then roll it around in your ibuprofen powder
    7) take the alcohol/vinegar soaked & ibuprofen coated q-tips and use as you would if you were cleaning the outer ear canal per regular hygiene regimen
Now you have clean, antibacterial & ant inflammation coated ear canals, wait 20-30 minutes and *for me* this relieved probably 60-70% of the pain & felt much better. I was far less irritated and able to almost forget about it completely and go in with my day instead of being in nagging pain unable to think about anything else

Yeah I dunno about that man. Are you a doctor or did you just get the bright idea to do a home remedy to yourself?
Coz if you did and even though it fixed you doing something like that sounds dangerous. Risk factors you wouldn’t have thought but a doctor would know all of them.
I’m not a doctor’s butthole but my advice to anyone would be go to the fkn doctor and a nose throat ear spec and pay them to deal with it and fix you.. not stick twisted tissue in your swollen ear holes and crush up some ibuprofen like like your about to snort lines of it

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
    00:00 *🏊 Understanding Swimmer's Ear:*
    - Swimmer's ear, also known as otitis externa, is inflammation of the external ear canal, often caused by infection.
    - Commonly caused by infectious agents like bacteria and fungi, swimmer's ear can also result from non-infectious factors such as trauma or skin conditions.
03:31 *🌊 Pathophysiology of Otitis Externa:*
    - Infection in the external auditory canal typically arises due to alterations in the environment, such as changes in pH or epithelial damage.
    - Bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, along with fungi like Candida and Aspergillus species, are common causative agents.
07:11 *🚨 Signs and Symptoms of Swimmer's Ear:*
    - Ear pain (otalgia) upon pulling the pinna or pressing on the tragus, discharge or debris in the ear, and itching (pruritus) are hallmark symptoms.
    - Patients may experience sensations of ear pressure, erythematous and edematous external auditory canal, along with potential complications like tinnitus, hearing loss, and fever in severe cases.
    12:46 *💉 Diagnosis and Treatment:*
    - Diagnosis is primarily clinical, based on history, risk factors, and physical examination, often aided by otoscopy to visualize inflammation and debris.
    - Treatment involves identifying and addressing underlying causes, pain management, debris removal, and topical ear drops containing agents like acetic acid, antibiotics (e.g., polymyxin B, neomycin), and hydrocortisone for inflammation. In severe cases, IV antibiotics may be necessary.

I think I might have this but I'm not sure for how long because it has been off and on but the out of my ear like the tragus is swollen and puffy almost like there's a liquid inside of it? and when I press down on it hurts and I can't hear properly. It's almost like a tight sensation in my ear it also kinda hurts at the top of my ear. This has been off and on I haven't experienced the pain in a while but now it's back and worse than before. I remember it felt clogged before it was constantly itchy on the inside but like a painful itch. I'm a swimmer, so I'm in the water all the time, which is probably the cause, although I've always been prone to get ear infections. When I was little I had to be taken to the doctor bc I was up all night crying from the pain in my ear this happened multiple times and I always thought there was something wrong with my ear...
