They will never make games like this anymore... Even with almost no content story-wise, this kind of games get you excited every second you play them and will keep in our memories for the rest of our lives (mainly in the amount of money they took from us LOL).
Sega made some of the best arcade games of all the time. Sadly many of these games are locked behind expired licenses, like Daytona USA and OutRun games.
strydom666 I Love he jumps into the ambulance and the paramedics let him ride all the way to the ER-he follows him inside. In the ending where the medic and driver are receiving medals the boy is there again...with his dog. 🙂
The music is so intense that it makes you feel like you really are driving an ambulance, and delivering a patient that could possibly die if you screw up.
I love Jack’s Dalmatian. He first pulls Jack from the car, the paramedics allow him to ride in the 🚑 knowing he’d not leave Jack’s side, and he is shown running into the ER with them. He is present, along with Jack, as the award is presented to the EMS crew.
I can think of plenty of games in 1999 that had facial animations in high polygon models.....even Nintendo 64 games could do it. Check out NBA Courtside 2 for N64.
This used to be in an arcade cabinet in the back of a local pizzeria I used to live by. They removed it at some point before 2010, I think. 'Tis a shame.
I only saw the cabinet a couple of times in 2005, but the whole idea of mixing a sense of urgency and being mega careful was a bit nerve wracking unlike Konami's Code One Dispatch which didn't penalize you for crashing onto things.

This EMT simulator/game for the arcades looks like fun! It reminds me of "Matchbox: Emergency Patrol" and the ambulance undercover missions in Paris in "Midtown Madness 3." I never played this arcade game, and I wish they released it for the PC and some video game consoles, like the Sega Dreamcast, Sony PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube (just like another SEGA arcade game called "18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker," which I used to play at Chuck E. Cheese's many years ago, but sadly, it was never released for the PC, so I have the North American NTSC PlayStation 2 version instead). Great job on this walkthrough!

It's not the framerate or details that bothered me - I don't like the gameplay and the physics of Sega Rally 2, that are the important parts of a racing game.
Johnny Cage Well it is different from the first one... But I have to say the physics are a bit questionable. At least from what I played. It requires to use the break more than quickly switching the gears from 4,1,4 - 3,1,3 while managing your trottle control.
I'm testing all arcade games from 1980's to 2002 that I possibly can, and I just came across this game, the emulation is very crappy, but I never had the chance to see an actual arcade of this one, I don't think this was a very popular game, but sure looks incredible, and the game play is quite amusing, I will continue on my scavenger hunt now.
I don't think that anyone has done such in depth reasearch into one single game. Actually Magnus did most of the hard work.

i'm surprised that this game was made in 1999, where other arcades beside model 3 were nothing on technical hardware. sega (or am department) made a quite surprising piece of technology back in the day. of course, in these days, those great graphics are not a great thing, but looking at the past 90's, it was AMAZING as they actually tried their best to make great hardware that surpass home console itself. how on earth they managed to do that? is a shame, really. sega now don't do much on arcade, or all of gaming industry actually more focused on VR, or just a home console and pc. need more something like racing games, light gun, and motion for arcade. it's better to experience more realistic on arcade then buy those driving controls or light gun for consoles or even worse using just a controller. well, i hope i can experience the thrill of playing arcade games, because in my country, in my places, 60% of arcade games that i played are working almost prefectly, while the others... you know, lack of working some hardwares and sometimes even completely unplayable normally. and not much of arcade games (besides wangan midnit, pump it up, mai mai, new games, and some games that used cards as core of gameplay (animal kaiser and some others)), but on the other hand, i found old arcade games that worked perfectly, like virtua fighter on super megalo 2. if i can, i'll try to find more arcade places. altho, it will be quite a difficult task... oh yea, btw, i like your game analysis page about this game. seems like some people do care about arcade games.
The Model 3 hardware was the most expensive hardware in the arcades at the time. A CGI company, Martin Marietta, bought SEGA at one time in the 90's and they developed 3D hardware with some impressive texturing. Also remember that this was at the beginning of 3D accelerators / 3D-chips for PC at the time, SEGA always utilized the latest microprocessor technology and this was no exception. What is your country?
Congratulations on beating the game, you did nice even on the last stage having 1 second leff + i know you played this on the original hardware, i readed the video description
I played this once, at a suburban movie theater outside of Detroit, Michigan in 2007. I was 10 and distinctly remember using one foot for the gas and the other foot for the brake
used to play this game back when i lived in japan about 15 years ago. loved it! wish you could get it as a download on one of the current consoles now.
+Richard Whitfield Yes, I agree. This game is far too good to be left for pleasant memories only. It is emulated though I think on the Supermodel3 emulator. But there's no official release by SEGA other than the original model3 hardware. Funny thing about this game is that we kind of know it was made by AM1 with Rikya Nakagawa as head of staff back in the days, but there's no credits or any information about who was involved. There are no end credits text other than "Thank you for playing - SEGA", which I find very, very strange. Someone in Japan should find Mr Nakagawa and make an interview.
+Tomas Dahlgren It would have been a perfect release on the dreamcast along with the likes of crazytaxi and 18 Wheeler. Sega had lots of other arcade games that would also have been great on dreamcast- scud race etc.
Richard Whitfield Yes, well any old model2 and model3 game would have made a nice Dreamcast title, I think. Scud Race is another fine game I have, infact it was my first model3 game.
I played this once a few years ago in a movie theater arcade. I'm not normally interested in "racing" games but I have an unusual fondness for hospital/medical games. Sadly, I ran out of time and quarters just when I was maybe 10 feet from getting the little boy to the hospital. T^T
Damn why did sega stop man. The last good arcade game they had with a story was The house of the dead and overkill was different from the originals. But games like these is what made arcades fun. I remember this one, the firefighters, and The house of the dead would be the ones I'd drain my quarters on as a kid. Now with all this new technology and advancement they seem to have stopped caring. I though The House Of The Dead wasn't dead yet according to leaks of a sequel, but that was 5 years ago. Sadly gone but good times.
HOTD is not dead, it will never be as long as people like you and me remember it and continue to celebrate it. TH-cam is full of it so I am certain that the old SEGA classics will live forever, at least through other games they set the standard for. The hardware may die, but the software lives on, now more than ever by emulation and spreading from generation to generation. However the arcade, as we know it, sadly is dead.
Wow back in the days where I actually collected quarters and went to the arcade every weekend . I only passed the first level ! Then they closed down the arcade :(
This game looks amazing, I don't remember it but the music is great, the graphics have a dreamcast charm to them as well. Really hope this gets a digital release.
Game came out in 1999, about the same time as Dreamcast did. There're not many ways to portray scenery with the amount of polygons and texture memory provided, which is why it looks similar to other SEGA hardware. And yes, still today it is an awesome game.
I love this game! I only discovered it a couple years ago on the Model 3 emulator. This would have made an excellent Dreamcast game if they added more missions. Great job on the last mission! I have played this game many many times and while I've beaten the final stage several times it still gives me trouble. There is no room for even 1 mistake. When I first played this I used Automatic Transmission. Correct me if I'm wrong but the last level seems impossible to complete with Automatic due to the lower top speed.
Well, as you say there's not room for one misstake. I've completed the game driving manual and auto. Then again I've had this game 20 years, must have played it at least several hundreds of times. On easy setting it still takes alot of practice to complete Case#4, with a 0, 1 or 2 "health" left on the counter.
@@uncletom1971 I've probably played it at least 100 times since I found out it was able to be emulated. I was really really into it when I first starting playing it. I'm pretty good at it now but the one thing I always have a problem with is jumping the bridge. I see in your video you slow down so you don't actually ramp. Sometimes I can hit the bridge full speed and land without losing any health or speed. Most times though it takes a small amount of health and kills the speed quite a bit. There has to be some trick to being able to land right but I haven't figured it out.
Actually that is the thing, you need to go slower on some sections or your patient will get punished. Remember those bonuses at the end of each case? They're only awarded for implementing each aspect of skilled driving to a 100%. So even if your patient doesn't lose any health, or your ambulance doesn't lose speed, if you still land hard enough after a jump to make the patient monitor go red for a split second, you won't get the 'Stable' bonus. Even if you get the 'Brave' bonus.
For added gameplay, I always thought this game should have the player driving to the scene of the accident within a specific time limit and then leave for the hospital.
Yes, that would certainly make a good addition to the gameplay. Even better if the "cases"/missions appeared on a random position in the map/world letting AI decide case type and difficulty according to the player's skill. Also I'd like there to be variable missions presenting several different incidents, at least 10-15 types. Still, I love this game though it is simple, I dare not hope for a similar game to come in the near future. SEGA did games back when everybody was pioneering the technology, the games made then were one of its kind in that state of art. Sadly these days as technology no longer is a limit, intellect has declined - who wants to drive an ambulance when you can save the world with guns and superpowers.
I've thought a lot about this game lately. I've thought about what cases would be interesting, what new routes would look like, music, etc. My dream is to help create a remastered version of this game. I've loved this game since I was 10 years old. I would add 4 cases to the game -- excluding bonus tracks. I was thinking there should be bonus tracks in more rural areas, where different types of disasters can occur.
Good idea. But why not just make this game like Crazy Taxi then, with lots of various "cases" on different routes, that vary in difficulty depending on your score and skill. You could play the complete map of Chicago, these days memory is not a problem, the map could be very large. Also you could select one of several vehicles differenty equipped and sized for various driving modes. Basically a mission-based driving game, like Crazy Taxi that started it all, but here in a emergency vehicle theme.
@@uncletom1971 If I were to have it my way, I would add "save points" so you would not have to start at the first case. The longer maps would also be a good idea, they could range from 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Some of the cases I think would be cool would be: Construction Accident(Inspired by the Spiderman 3 scene with the crane), Suicidal Jumper, Terrorist Attack, Bank Robbery. If I can help make this happen I would be elated. I had one idea where you have to drive through a bunch of alleyways and also a graveyard -- to make it a bit dark. I lived near Chicago, so I have a lot of ideas for maps and routes. Different hospitals would also be cool.
@@dangerpowers4582 You should really learn to program. Then learn some C-sharp or whatever they use these days to create games. You obviously have good ideas for a sequel of this game.
Tomas Dahlgren in the uk from what i gathered, just about ever video game arcade has closed down. but in japan, places like taito hey in akihabara japan and club sega are as strong as ever.. th-cam.com/video/JV-gklNS2-w/w-d-xo.html
Funny you say that, since that game was actually going to be on the Dreamcast alongside Jambo Safari and Brave Firefighters, but it sadly never came to be.
I posted this on a few other videos, but did anyone else take notice of all the different conditions in the attract mode(e.g., Massive Bleeding, Severe Labor Pains, Shock). I noticed "vomiting" appears in the attract mode, but I've played and watched this game a countless number of times and I've never seen a patient experience this. Does anyone know more about this? I feel like it was initially considered, but was taken out for ostensibly being too graphic.
Ah Chicago, back when we had money to pay for roadwork...I miss the old days. Also I know our weather is crazy, but damn. We had one hot summer when a cow burnt down our whole state and that's all y'all remember...smh but yes we do drive like that...that bit's accurate.
They will never make games like this anymore... Even with almost no content story-wise, this kind of games get you excited every second you play them and will keep in our memories for the rest of our lives (mainly in the amount of money they took from us LOL).

+Tomas Dahlgren Come to think of it, that's where I discovered this game, and I haven't seen that film in years.
Yup! There it is approximately after 1:03:42, togeather with SNK's Roads Edge.
+Tomas Dahlgren I was wondering what that other one was, thanks!
I damn near pissed myself with laughter at the happy ending!
In deed, ofcourse. Don't we all. It is a difficult game to conquer.
I forgot how crazy this game was, it was up here with Crazy Taxi lol Good job & thanks for the video
Yes, well it is one of SEGA's more innovative games over the years. Clearly one of its kind when it comes to originality.
Congratulations on beating the game, you did nice even on the last stage having 1 second leff
+ i know you played this on the original hardware, i readed the video description
Thanks Hexley. Well, it takes a bit of practice. That's all really.
On the last mission wjlhos firing those missiles.
The terrorists ofcourse.
Richard Whitfield
Yes, well any old model2 and model3 game would have made a nice Dreamcast title, I think. Scud Race is another fine game I have, infact it was my first model3 game.
Be like president Gregorio Tavaresky...your airplane falling, everything around you going worse and worse, but you never stop smiling
I played this video game at the arcade. The first time I played this, the patient flatlined on me 😢
Holy crap, the ambulance and oil truck drivers in this city are CRAZY!
I know this game was at the old GattiTown in Greenville, SC. There was two ECA cabs over there, I think. I unfortunately never played it there. :\
I played this once a few years ago in a movie theater arcade. I'm not normally interested in "racing" games but I have an unusual fondness for hospital/medical games. Sadly, I ran out of time and quarters just when I was maybe 10 feet from getting the little boy to the hospital. T^T
Yeah man, me too. 👍
Lol, the president is still smiling even when his plane is about to crash.
Bro if you have less than 10 seconds the patient is gonna die either way. Especially the president 💀
Yes. Presidents are more prone to die than regular people.
この救急車運転がうまいな。
僕も運転がうまくなってこのゲームクリアしたいな。
I'd love to see a remastered version with more cases. I could die happy, if that happened. That would likely never happen, unfortunately.
6:19 This is why you don't fly planes in a thunderstorm.
The ambulance stopped the gang because the gang crashed into the ambulance
A very valid theory.
Wow back in the days where I actually collected quarters and went to the arcade every weekend . I only passed the first level ! Then they closed down the arcade :(
That is why we buy the arcade game to play at home.
Tomas Dahlgren it is not like they sell every arcade game online. Somebody did however created a galaxian 3 theatre In their house so there is hope!
Yes well, you need to look for it. These days it is getting rare.
Oh, and I almost forgot... you drive like a young god.
Well done Dr. Stiles.
Thanks. But I'm not a doctor, only the driver of the ambulance.
That president almost died a happy man, now he is gonna live the rest of his life as one.
If sega made a Pizza Delivery boy game, they made sure you are a damn good pizza delivery boy.
Gill Glinton had one hell of a smile throughout his accident
This game looks amazing, I don't remember it but the music is great, the graphics have a dreamcast charm to them as well. Really hope this gets a digital release.
Game came out in 1999, about the same time as Dreamcast did. There're not many ways to portray scenery with the amount of polygons and texture memory provided, which is why it looks similar to other SEGA hardware. And yes, still today it is an awesome game.
I agree, I love the style, it aged well in my opinion
Chicago is a chaos wow 😂
This should've been a dreamcast game sadly it wasn't miss this game
I remember playing this game at an arcade at a mall in 2006. I stunk at it since I kept killing the first case (the kid in the car accident).
@@uncletom1971I'll give it a try. Thanks for the upload as well as the suggestion.
Dad,mom, son had a car crash, only son is taken to hospital. Are the parents like, dead?
Yes. They all died except the boy.
No one pulling over or stopping while you're driving code? Probably the most realistic part of this game LOL
god damm it, i miss having arcades!!! japan is the only place that has maintained the arcade culture!!!
Have they really, in what way?
Tomas Dahlgren in the uk from what i gathered, just about ever video game arcade has closed down. but in japan, places like taito hey in akihabara japan and club sega are as strong as ever..
th-cam.com/video/JV-gklNS2-w/w-d-xo.html
If we fail the second stage at least we have robocop
They should have put it on Dreamcast.
Funny you say that, since that game was actually going to be on the Dreamcast alongside Jambo Safari and Brave Firefighters, but it sadly never came to be.
I remember watching this when I was a kid 🥹
I love this freakin' game
hi you know the name of a game like this but where it leaves a patrol, a fire truck, an ambulance, a limo and toxic waste truck?
DIEGO MEZA Maybe you mean Konami's Code One Dispatch on the Viper system?
DIEGO MEZA it's Code one dispatch. as Tomas said, it's on that viper system
***** could you upload something about it?
1:30
Well that's pretty damn depressing
You mean that ghost ambulance driving over the edge into the ocean? Well, that's what he does, same time, same place, every game.
No one would survive a plane crash exactly like that
Esta fue mi infancia…
La mía también.
I never could get past stage 3. It was one of the left turns, there were a bunch of cars all coming at the same time and I couldn't avoid them.
I could never even made it pass stage 1! XD, I was always hitting something in this game Xp
Hi, more speed with manual transmision?
Yes, I think so. Also slightly more control over acceleration.
And you thought things were chaotic INSIDE the ambulance in Surgeon Simulator.
Never noticed on the bottom left that " rendezvous " is spelled " rendezvuos "
I used to play this game in an Game Center around 1999-2000 :O, but it was in Japanese
Yes. You can set the Model 3 to any region really.
@1:30 lol, the patient in that other ambulance definitely didn't make it ^^
I'm pretty sure they have an oxygen tank in every ambulance.
How do you get secret rank?
Sounds like it could even be Discovery Health Channel: Rescue 911 as a videogame.
Ah Chicago, back when we had money to pay for roadwork...I miss the old days. Also I know our weather is crazy, but damn. We had one hot summer when a cow burnt down our whole state and that's all y'all remember...smh but yes we do drive like that...that bit's accurate.
Can you get the game over scenes from this game?
This would been a good selling game if it was on the dreamcast
Why do the 1st,2nd and 4th case in the ambulance they are shirt-less?
good old sega :)
I hate thunderstorms.
I love thunderstorms.
This Game Came Out The Same Year Ass The Iron Giant
can u played supermodel emulator?
it's too hard for beginner.
I give up.
No, not emulator. Model 3 original hardware.
