How great is this. Ya these songs had their original expression but so versatile with Jons voice - you put any band behind that voice and it would sound immaculate.
Oh my... I was in the audience that night. A very special evening. This is far and away one of the best yes medleys ever. So glad I got to hear The Prophet live.
I would love to see a Blu-ray release of this show. Maybe a series of AI apps could clean up and animate the source material to make a cool release. Just thoughts...
Fantastic, a unique, one-of-a-kind voice that can never truly be replicated, never truly be replaced. In the 70+ times I've seen him perform live, he has never, not once, disappointed. His passing will be one I'm going to have great difficulty with, long live Jon Anderson.
Never heard this in my life.To hear something from Jon Anderson in 2022 that I never heard before is fantabulous!Lucky me🙏!! The true voice of angel’s, God bless you, oh yes He already has 😉!!
Back in the late 60's I think Alan 'Fluff' Freeman played a track by an unknown band. A cover of a Beatles song Every Little Thing. I was attempting to complete some homework in the Kitchen of my family home. I heard Jons voice for the first time. Now aged 67, I reflect warmly what a huge part this beautiful human being has played in my life. Thank you Jon. Listening to this medley I have tears running down my face. Live on the wonderful Jon Anderson.
I used to listen to the Alan Freeman show, on Saturday afternoon, he played more diverse music, other than chart music, it was on here that I heard and loved The Nice. Same age as you btw.
Did Jon, do DeMontfort Hall on this tour?? I can’t believe I didn’t go and see him, but then it could have been something to do with the fact he had left Yes. It sounds fabulous!
This is the most beautiful medley I've heard in a pretty long time, and it was made by none other than Jon Anderson and darn good musicians. Bravo Mr Anderson...
@@richardgroenland1481 ''... one of his best songs ...'' ??? This is a medley Mister, so there are 11 different songs in there... On which planet do you live exactly ?
Thank you ! I’ve been hoping to find this for 40 years...I was at the Birmingham one, and it was truly sublime. I remember the audience just bursting into applause over and over, and giving him the biggest ovation I’ve ever known. I thought it would remain a memory, but now I’ve got it forever ! Wonderful.
This is my favorite Jon Anderson solo recording !!!! His voice is awesome but it was possibly at its all time best during this period !!!!! Such amazing body and range !!!!!
Saw this tour at Newcastle City Hall - without doubt my favourite concert ever - some great musicians in the band Dick Morrisey, Morris Pert, John Giblin - Jon played the week after Yes with Trevor Horn had played at City Hall - the crowd went absolutely mental for Jon - unforgettable
I was at both shows also. In fact went to two of the Yes shows because I couldn't believe how bad it was. Jon's show was probably the greatest show ever, maybe even better than London 78 in the round.
His voice is still amazing at almost 80! Jon's current tour with The Band Geeks is getting wide acclaim with how good the shows are. I saw him in late July and cried at one point I was so happy to hear him so well. Long live Jon Anderson!
Jeez! This is 2023, and this was put up in 2012?! I can't believe I have not heard this before! Song of Seven has always had a special place in my heart. I love the band JA got together for the album, but MAN they are SMOKIN' here! Yes' material is no easy thing and they pulled it of seamlessly from what I could perceive. That said - THE ENERGY! Wow! For those who saw the show, any idea about how old Deborah (daughter) was? Under 10, over 10? She is quite something too. Her latest project (that I'm aware of) is an excellent documentary call "Women of the White Buffalo" regarding the plight of the Sioux Nation, specifically the females.
WOW, the best band Jon ever had as a solo artist, sounds really incredible!!... unfortunately he was forced to disolve this line-up upon the completion of the British tour in late '80..., it was a financial disaster and he couldn't afford to go on like this, so he returned to the studio for the recording of The Friend of Mr. Cairo with Vangelis, carrying Dick Morrisey with him.
I didn’t go to this concert, my friend did and she told me how good it was. After hearing this, I wish I’d have gone now. Thanks for upload, if you have got the whole setlist, I would love to hear that.
If this doesn't demonstrate exactly why JA was the soul of Yes, as well as its binding force, i really don't know what will! All the other incarnations we've had are really little more than tribute bands, especially without Squire.
I thought the same thing! But, what can you say, there are two main camps and who cares about "proving" anything? What's clear to me is that if you can't HEAR n FEEL the weight of the intense creativity of Yes' '70s era being lifted off of Jon, one is...living on sluggish earth and not in the dimension that JA is in! I love Yes, but I LOVE Jon's spirit!
I'll bet a lot of people in the audience and probably some on here don't know the third one in. That's too bad. It's from a very under-appreciated album.
If there is a good section of this available now, where is the rest of this concert? And why hasn't it been uploaded already? That medley was SUPERB, which means the rest of the show was the SAME. I wanna hear it. Jon's band is VERY GOOD, and compliment's well his incomparable, fantastic voice...
Funny that the one who uploaded this didn't answer... maybe this isn't even in his possession Actually, I just own another concert from the same tour, released officially. Jon once started a huge project called The Lost Tapes" that was never completed. The idea was to release 20 CD of rare tracks, live recordings circa 2005... This was a kind of pledge campaign, initially, but the very small English independant label Voiceprint released the CD's in stores. Jon released less than 8 albums, but I own the double live album where there is another take of this Yes Medley : it's called Live in Sheffield 1980 (the concert is from the 3rd of December) and this is a double CD, featuring some rehearsals with the band to complete a little bit the 2nd CD. It was released in 2006 by Voiceprint.
This band is garbage without 5 genius musicians, Well, you can get 4 of them to play some mock-Yes but that's it. Olias of Sunhillow was like a billion times better than this, because it was the work of a single genius. But this... it's depressing actually
Hearing Jon Anderson singing the end of To Be Over is so classic, it brings me to happy tears. Thank you, Jon aka Yoda!
hep Yada, hip Yoda!

2023, Jon is alive and well, touring the music of Yes with his New band, Band Geeks. He is 78

Incredible. Amazing I have never heard this before. I would have died during The Prophet. Wow.
What a blessed time that was for real music fans.
I was fortunate to have attended many of their concerts in the 70s and 80s 😊
I saw Jon in concert a few weeks later in Leicester. Amazing evening. Thank you for reminding me of that night.

This is an internet gem that many Yes fans are unaware of its existence. Could be great CD. !!!!

i can also say i was there and do you remember the cheer when his daughter came on stage to sing "song of seven" with the band.... amazing evening
Jon Anderson, Steve Hackett, Anthony Phillips, Patrick Moraz, Ian Andersan... keeping the music we love alive.
What a great refreshed versión of Yes' songs. Jon is simply a genius. He can transport the audience with his voice.

Jon has been a fantastic writer and composer. He knew how to help orchestrate the band and their shows. I wish him well.
Wow, absolutely beautiful. I'm so happy and grateful that I found this, excellent performance by Jon 🌴🌴
that To Be Over finale is easily in my top 5 Yes moments

This is really refreshing. The Relayer/Tormato stuff is just awesome.

Saw the Song of Seven tour that summer on the Jersey Pier..Amazing show!
The piano version of To Be Over its like a lullaby to me.

I nearly got run over running for the last train.
Jon Anderson THE VOICE. THE MASTER. FOREVER YES!!!
Jon as always, an angel's voice.

This is a great medley! Thank you for sharing it, and Happy Holidays to all of you!
That was quite nice. Nice to hear long loved melodies and arrangements expanded and re-visioned.
Absolutely brilliant re-workings of YES material, thanks for uploading
I know at some point on this tour Dave (Clem) Clempson was the guitarist and did a fantastic job-always wanted to hear Jon do more with him.
Was at this in 1980 great night
Best song ever. Only 40 years ago.
It came all together.
should reform this band and tour now that he's a solo act---his voice is so strong and poweful--love it

Who is playing bass here?? It's superb.
How the hell why he wasn't with Yes 1980 & he was replaced by a bloke who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket
Great!! but Jon should have left the horns out, and there's an bit of emptiness without Squire's bass and background vocal harmonies.
he and george michael should have got together
