Just rooted a Nord N200 now. I recommend using the MSM tool to read your boot file from your software that is currently installed. Press F8 when in msm tool.
Works perfectly. Just make sure your build number matches the build number of oneplus firmware u are downloading

I followed the exact method twice, with different boot images (one from XDA and the second from Oneplus official site). The first time I got stuck in a fastboot loop and the second time I went into crash dump mode (Error: Attempted to kill init! exitcode = 0x00007f00). Any idea why I can't seem to root? :/

I bricked my n100 following this. I was able to recover the phone after a lot of effort using the MSM tool. Make sure you are using the correct oneplus software. The link he provided only includes one software version. You need the version that matches your phones current software version.

Went through the entire process and after reboot into android magisk says not rooted and root checker says not rooted. Not sure why as I patched the boot.img file exactly like your video said.
Make sure you have patched the Boot.img file from Download folder of your phone directory.
so after entering fastboot oem unlock, it says "please flash unlock token first". what does that mean? It's a Nord n10

@@illumenoty36 I used msm recovery to reset to factory default. Then used lineage os rom to root. Working even now.
And again and again we have to follow the same procedure for updating the device software update??

Im trying to root my oneplus 7 pro but after following the steps and getting the device number when typing "fastboot devices", the next step of "fastboot oem unlock" doesent do anything. It gives a message saying "FAILED (remote: 'Device cannot be unlocked for technical reason.')

When you are on the latest android version 12 its not going to work. You need to use the rollback package first to get back to android 11. You are wiping your data with that. Afterwards use the latest android 11 version from oneplus and follow his instructions. Just google oneplus 7 pro rollback package and look in the comments of the first link that pops up ;)
