If God doesn't love everyone I wonder why scripture says "God wishes that NONE would perish but ALL would come to the knowledge of the truth."

    • @Romans8-9
      @Romans8-9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

God wishes that none of us murder each other and yet murder exists. Is it possible God has a moral will and a sovereign will that are distinct from each other?
No one said he doesn´t "love everyone" but there is a special love for the elect. The damned will never experience God´s love in eternity but suffer eternal judgment, so to claim that God has exactly the same love for everyone is completely unBiblical.
To tell someone they are loved unconditionally by God, is completely false.

@@Romans8-9 I have NEVER said Gods love is unconditional becuase the bible does not say say that. What I have said to you previously that he loves sinners ( you may disagree with the type of love He has for them.) My job is not to convince you that God's love for a sinful world was to save them from their sins) no matter what the bible says on God's love for the sinner you will say "It's a General Grace Type Love" not a love that cared enough to die for them.
Why did Jesus's so-called "General Grace Type Love" for the Rich Young Ruler ONLY talk of SALVATION ISSUES? and NOT common, grace type issues, such as work or the weather. Why did he tell the unrepentant Rich Young Ruler how to get into heaven if He only has a Common, Grace, Type Love for him? Why does the bible say "Jesus looking at him and loved him.... sell all you have and give to the poor and you will have riches in heaven." Jesus ONLY talked of SALVATION issues with him. Why, why , why, if He didn't want the the Rich Young Ruler to be saved from his sins.

@OP - You have to exegate that statement within the greater context of the scripture that it's in.
It's from 2 Peter 3:9 - The Apostle Peter is originally talking about the elect in Christ or the Body of believers.
The statement isn't referencing none meaning every human being that ever existed on the planet Earth at all times. You can't just rip scripture or pretty much any scripture out of its context; therefore the subject matter begins in chapter 3 verse 1:
      2 Peter 3:1 ESV
This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved.

@KiLDiG Horror Movie Archive well, doesn’t justice require punishment for injustice? If it doesn’t, our courts (even if everything is just, without corruption or false charges) are tools for mass murder and persecution. The Law says that the one that kills must be killed: “...the murderer shall surely be put to death. " (Num 35:16). So a God that is just must punish injustice. It also says that the people that sin die because of their own sin, so it’s not only God who punishes sin, but people punish themselves. A good example would be Israel. God guarded Israel while they were obedient and stopped guarding them when they decided they don’t need Him. So He let them handle the consequences of their own sin. They wanted to worship and be ruled by other gods, so He let other gods with their nations rule Israel. But God is a God of mercy, so whenever people would repent He would forgive them: "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:4) and also Ephesians 2:8, Hebrews 8:12, Acts 10:43, Isaiah 55:7, 1st John 2:2, 1st Peter 4:8, Acts 17:30. Isaiah 43:25, Matthew 6:14, Mark 11:25, 1st John 2:12 and there is much more!
      Peace be with you.

@KiLDiG Horror Movie Archive Where are you getting your sense of morality from? Without God morals are not objective. You can't even accuse God of being evil from your perspective because that is subjective. In reality though God doesn't murder anyone, God is the giver of life and can take it away whenever he pleases. He is a just judge and cannot be unjust because He is the definition of holy.

The danger of these little video clips is that people will have the tendency to isolate the whole context from what Dr sproul is speaking. Therefore people who had never heard about him will disagree on the spot. We need to understand that there are biased opinions about the word of God. All truth belongs to God and we have the privilege to search it. But not recklessly. God gave us the Spirit so we have the tool of discernment. Stop arguing. that helps nobody. Our walk with christ is personal. We are not supposed to win arguments but to win souls. We are God's means for the extention of His grace.

Often, in the OT, people performed a "sin offering," which basically means sacrificing a goat to atone for your own sins - that goat pays the price for you. (Some sins, which you can likely find in the Bible somewhere, cannot be atoned for if I remember correctly.) When Jesus was crucified despite being innocent, his death essentially served as a sin offering for all of mankind, which meant grace could serve as a means for humans to enter Heaven.
At the time of the flood, Jesus hadn't died yet, so there was no grace. Only justice.

"God hates sin but loves the sinners" is a tricky quote that is not perfectly right. So people often use it and criticize in a wrong understanding. But I think that quote is not completely wrong either. God loves the sinners in sense that He wants them to be saved (even the elected ones were also sinners too) and cleansed from their sins. And yes, God hates the evil doers because He hates the things that they DO. But He loves them in sense that He wants them to come to Him and accept Jesus. Btw it's all just my understanding, I'm open to discussing this with others.

Yes, God’s will for his creation is a form of love. And so is his benevolent love which means that all can benefit from God while on earth. What RC has talked about numerous times is that God has a special kind of love for those who are saved through Jesus Christ, salvific love. He’s talked about the dangers of the overprescribed talking points of “God is love,” found in 1 John 4:8, and “God loves unconditionally,” which is not specifically cited in the Bible. Both of these have been detrimental to the Church because the listener thinks “I can keep sinning against God because I know that he will still love me.” Instead, the Church needs to preach more about repentance. Yes, we should talk about God’s love, but we also need to talk about God’s wrath.

The reason why God calls us to repentance is precisely because He loves us, and doesn't want us to suffer hell, which is why He took the punishment for the whole world's on the Cross to save us. God is a Father. You cannot earn the love a Father. If God didn't love everyone unconditionally, then He wouldn't have sent Jesus, and if He did, he would've sent Him to call the righteous and not care to call the unrighteousness to repentance. God loves all people unconditionally, just like a real good father. But it is really God's favor that is earned.

    • @Panhorst
      @Panhorst 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Your enemies biblically speaking are the members of your household your neighbors at school in your community and so forth. The Lord never commands us not to bring people to justice who do evil. Those who are criminals must be punished. The Lord even disciplines his own children. This is clear in the scripture as well for it says that one who does not receive discipline from the Lord is an illegitimate child. For everyone who is a Christian participates in the sufferings of Christ. The scripture says when everyone speaks well of you it is a sign that you do not belong to God because they persecuted the prophets and they also persecuted the apostles they will also persecute you the Lord says to his children. In fact Jesus exact words are if they hated me they will hate you too. Christian people are people who delight in the law of God who desire to do good and practice righteousness they do not practice sin though they sin sometimes. Clearly Jesus tells us that not everybody is a Christian not everybody is saved the Lord is perfectly just to give justice to the one who he Wills and to give Mercy to whom who gives Mercy this is articulated in Romans 9. I hope that helps.

      JUDAH RISE
Salvation is not based upon genealogy or a certain ethnicity nor is it based upon good works rather instead as the Apostle Paul has said it is based upon his grace for the objects of his Mercy. God has a chosen elect out of every tribe and tongue. In Romans 9 this is clearly articulated. Therefore the Israel of God is those who are called by God according to his promise. In John 3:16 the statement "For God so loved the world" referred to God's chosen elect out of every tribe and tongue of the whole world. Let's listen to what the Apostle Paul has to say about who is the elect of God it has not anything to do with ethnicity or descendants of Abraham biologically it is according to the promise. For God has a chosen elect from eternity before he made the world he had already decided everything. Therefore the Lord had made objects of his wrath as well as objects of his Mercy. He has subjected the whole world to corruption so that he is just to justify whomever it is he Wills and hardens whoever he Wills. Whoever it is that has faith in Jesus Christ and is born in the Holy Spirit is the one who belongs to God. The Apostle tells us that faith is a gift from God in Ephesians. Remember he says "for it is by grace that you've been saved through faith and this is not from yourself nor by works but it is the gift of God." For Jesus said unless a man is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Now let's look in the context of Romans 9 may the Lord grant to you ears to hear what the Spirit has to say:
      Romans 9
I am speaking the truth in Christ-I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit- that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but "Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring. For this is what the promise said: "About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son." And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls- she was told, "The older will serve the younger." As it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God's part? By no means! For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills. You will say to me then, "Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?" But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, "Why have you made me like this?" Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory- even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles? As indeed he says in Hosea, "Those who were not my people I will call 'my people,' and her who was not beloved I will call 'beloved.'" "And in the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' there they will be called 'sons of the living God.'" And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: "Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved, for the Lord will carry out his sentence upon the earth fully and without delay." And as Isaiah predicted, "If the Lord of hosts had not left us offspring, we would have been like Sodom and become like Gomorrah." What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone, as it is written, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."

Is she going to cherish and love those four good children while hating and ignoring the other six? No she loves all the say and only see's the best in them all. The same goes for God/source love, he/she doesn't reject over half the human race while celebrating the rest, God goes after the lost sheep at all costs because that is with in God's very nature. Sproul was a smart guy, but he's totally wrong here. God's desire for a sinner to repent is in no way inconsistent with His love. Indeed, the very reason God desires repentance is so that He can be reconciled to His creature! We need to stop thinking of hatred and love as opposites. It is not always so.
I suspect Sproul's Calvinist theology obligated him to consider the reprobate (those who go to hell) as people who God ONLY hates, since of course they are reprobate specifically because God destined them to be so. Under this system God wills the reprobate not repentance and salvation, but destruction. His "hatred" of sinners is the same sort of hate that the devil has for all mankind.
Thankfully Sproul no longer believes this.

The bible teaches God actually saves a people for himself and gives his life for the sheep. John 6:37 is clear "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." Then Jesus procedes inV39 to say that he loses NONE!!! a certain number was given to jesus by the father and Jesus says he loses none of them. According to your false belief, God is losing his sheep every day since God then loves everyone and is unable to save anyone unless man responds or cooperates leaving salvation up to man. It think this is the danger of Calvinism,, it stretches everything like the depravity of man and the grace of God to the point that God now condemns people to hell before they were even born. That God chosed every one who will be saved even before the foundation of the world. Consequently, He also chose before hand those who will be destined to hell. It misrepresents John 3:16. Telling people now that He loved only those whom will believe and those who will believe he already pre- appointed before their birth, John 3:16 is simple. H loved the whole world that is why He gave His Son as ransom for the all the people. But He also has his divine justice in that all who will not believe cannot partake of the atonment of anyone's sin by Christ death on the cross. His divine justice dictates that everyone who sins will go to hell. And everyone is a sinner, yet His love through His sin overrides this punishment in that If anyone will believe in Christ, it will be that substitute to that person's punishment in hell is Christ death and agony on the cross, This the balance God I believe in and not a god who sends to hell by using a spinning wheel to determine which goes to hell and which goes to heaven with God.

Christians believe that God has spoken to humanity so we can know about Him, so that we can have answers. God's words are in the Bible. Jeremiah 17:9 says "The heart is deceitful above all things", so it's definitely not a good idea to trust your heart because humans are sinners and their sinful hearts are going to lead them only into more sin. The bad news is that we're all unable to please God because of our sin. He requires absolute perfection and holiness, which is not possible for a human to accomplish. So all of us are damned by default. God is a wrathful Judge who demands every last sin be paid for. His justice and His holiness are eternal and infinite. But He also gets great pleasure from saving sinners. God is pleased to demonstrate His love, grace, mercy, patience, and kindness. He deals with every single sin, but He does it in two ways. Either Jesus atoned for it, or Jesus will cast you into hell for it. We need Jesus to atone for our sins, and we also need His perfect righteousness applied to us because we could never be righteous enough to earn heaven on our own. No amount of good deeds can ever gain God's favor or earn salvation. We can only be saved by God's grace, through faith in Jesus alone, not by anything that we can do for ourselves. Without faith in Christ you will not see heaven. Everyone must believe in Jesus Christ to be saved.
"as it is written: 'No one is righteous, no, not one'" (Romans 3:10)
"But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8)"
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” (Act 17:30-31)
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." (John 3:16-18)
"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Jesus, a spitting image of God in human form, loved everyone on earth. He loved and spoke to the people that needed him most. The prostitutes, the murderers, etc. Jesus died so it could be possible for the entire world to be saved thereforth. One of the MAIN things God wants US to do on this earth is love, just as Jesus loved us. Matthew 5:44 says: “But I say to you, Love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you”. We are called to love all just as God would. Why would a PERFECT God nor love all? If He has any hatred towards people, he would not be a perfect God. John 15:12 says: “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”. and 1 John 4:8 says: “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love”. God is love and all he does is perfect and is right for us. In this video, the man says God does not love everyone unconditionally. He is wrong. God loves all unconditionally. No matter how much sin is in your life, He loves every single human and he wants what is best for them.

@@hannahgallifrey the Bible tells us that we are dead in sin, meaning not only are we dead in this life, but we will also face death in the life to come because God is holy and righteous and must judge all unrighteousness. If He did not, He would not be Holy.
Lord Jesus talks a lot about this spiritual death called hell, which is eternal separation from God. The mistake of sinful men is they downplay hell saying that if it really does exist, they would not mind going there.
But God would not have offered His Son at the ultimate price if the stakes were not high. Plus Jesus describes hell as weeping and gnashing of teeth. Recall in your life when you have ever weeped, not cried. Or whenever you have gritted your teeth our of pure anger.
Plus Jesus talks about a rich young ruler who was cast into hell and he pleaded for a simple drop of water to be satisfied. Now think about desperate times when you would only desire for merely a drop of water to ease your pain.
The other part to being in Christ is that eternal joy is offered you. We deceive ourselves and tell ourselves that sin is the best pleasure but if never fully satisfies. You'll end up wondering if that's really it to this world. But one cannot fathom eternal joy, but it's offered nevertheless for all who are in Christ.

People truly want to come to Christ. They've truly seen the dire error of their ways and so they repent with all their hearts, they "get saved" and do their utmost best to live holy lives in Christ from the moment of "rebirth", just to hear that it really doesn't matter. You can accept Christ, but that doesn't mean he will accept you. This is greatly disheartening, it is discouraging and downright heartbreaking. I feel these are the types of things that turn would-be Christians away from Christianity and religion altogether. If it is predestined/predetermined who God loves and who will receive paradise, why would a person even want to try? We already fear rejection from every angle and now potential (and from the sounds of it...probable) rejection from God--despite our turning from our evil ways? I just cannot imagine this. I can't fathom it...not at all.

Thing is, if a person is willing to come to Christ, if he really wants to become a children of God, that's because God wanted it first by starting a regeneration process. As Jesus said He will cast out nobody but people will come to Him only if thr Father choses them first. Remember, we all deserve hell and we go there freely. It's amazing that God is capable of even loving any of us. Nobody is worthy, we all should die and perish. Nobody who truly is willing to come to Christ will be cast out or considered as a non-elect, because to come to that point would only mean God has called that person.

Jesus said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of God but those outside it is hidden Lk 8:10 Why would the Lord speak in parables but explain them only to His disciples doesn't He want everyone to repent? 2 Cor 4:3 If our Gospel be hid it is hid to them that are lost. Wrong. We all reject God by sinning therefore, we don´t make the decision to choose God since we have already rejected him by our disobedience. Its up to God on who he chooses to have mercy on (Romans 9). As a sinner, I rejected God many , many times but in his infinite mercy he decided to save me later in my life despite me not being worthy of it. It was all God and nothing to do with me, and anyone who suggests they played a role in their own salvation clearly have delusions of grandeur.

God's love is unconditional. If it was conditional then why does Scripture say that He loved us before we even loved Him?
Love doesn't mean you tolerate their sin. Love offers the chance for life. God told Israel to CHOOSE life. If we don't choose life then death is the natural result. Unconditional love doesn't mean that the outcome will be the same, unconditional love means that despite our evil and self-destructive ways he loves us and hopes we come to the realization of the riches of His love and grace. If we continue in our ways their is a consequence, and it is a result of our own stubborness and choice, not because of the lack of the love of God. God loves all men, it must be true because Jesus died for all men.
