    @5M Family. I used your exact method here once I fleshed out the jaws I used a wire wheel on my dremmel tool to remove the small bits of meat and silver skin that I couldn’t get off with a scraper. Seemed to work very well and didn’t cause damage to the jaws.

      Thanks for the tip! We will have to try that next time we have a shark come through.

    This is very helpful had two shark jaws ruined one becuz I tried boiling it like you would with a fish mount. Bad choice. And the other I’ve had frozen for 6 months now.I’ve seen salt methods but nothing yet with peroxide this is best I’ve come across . Thanks

      We have done 2 shark jaws this month using this method and both turned out excellent.

    Sweet job! I do agree with what you said about lowering the hanger, but it still looks great!

    I used a 5:1 water bleach mixture and added blue Dawn and let soak and the tissues loosened and fell off and it drew out the oils left behind. Just as white and then let dry. Nice work clean end result.

      Really? I've heard that peroxide is better because bleach burns through the enamel and makes the bone chalky.

      @@varun009 worked great for me. Diluted and controlled exposure maybe?

    Did you use a screw with a large head? So it would resist the jaw ever pulling out?

    I’ve been scrapping flesh off my jaw for about 2 hours now and I’ve decided that I got most of it so I’m going to let it dry, 1 how long should I leave it in the sun for, like 3 days? 2 is it ok that there’s still a good amount of flesh still on it

      I let mine dry for several days and the left over flesh was dry and easy to scrape off.

    Would the beetles destroy it?

    • @OurTopPinLife
      @OurTopPinLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. We have done 2 sharks and didn't use beetles either time. So, we couldn't say yes or no.

      @@OurTopPinLife after a couple days of "ant cleaning" thought I'd try pouring some near boiling hot water to loosen what junk was left...teeth in one spot started falling out! I know not to boil jaws but had no idea just pouring water on would do that. I saved most of the teeth that came out. .guess I'll be getting out the tweezers and super glue. Rookie mistake!

    Any reason you didn’t boil it?

    • @OurTopPinLife
      @OurTopPinLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because its all cartilage except the teeth and it would most likely cause it to loose its shape or worse it could melt it.
