Guys, GUYS! Some skills required to do well at this are IQ related, but make no mistake, this isn't a good measure of intelligence. If you had to rank 100 strangers by IQ and this game is all the reference you got.. sure, then it provides some information you can go by, but this definitely ain't an IQ test. I've proctored between 75-100 IQ tests. One issue with using this competition as an IQ test would be reaction speed. High IQ people can have a slow mouth, just like everybody else. Another issue could be non-linear thinking, which can be very dominant in certain high IQ people. Simply put, those people can take a long time to answer a simple question. Fyi, if somebody ever forces you to rank strangers by IQ, have them answering a diverse range of questions.. on a time limit, but not like a speed competition. Other options would be downloading a Raven's test (Gold standard if we had to assess the IQ of a lot of people within a short period of time) or in case you're a bit more sadistic, lock the people up in solitary with nothing but a chess computer with 100 levels on it (beating one unlucks the next one) and a basic rule book. Only works if nobody has prior chess experience, but other than that it's as effective as it is inhumane.
English is the correct answer. The 12 million figure is very much mis-cited, and there is zero literature to back the claim that Arabic has 12 million words. The figure is often cited from pg 83-4 of Muʕjam ʕAjā'ib al-Lughah by Shawqī Ḥamādah, which only states an approximation of possible roots in the Arabic language, without regard for whether or not these roots actually have any semantic meaning. In short, all the figure says is that Arabic has rich morphology, but in no way does that mean it automatically has 25x more words than English or any other language. But some guy thought it funny to twist those figures and use it to make a claim about the lexical richness of Arabic vis-à-vis other languages.
You are simply wrong as someone who lives in an English-speaking country and has been studying Arabic for the past 20 years I can tell you there is no way that English has more words than Arabic for example there are over 200 synonyms for the word lion and I know at least 10 of them myself I have seen this many times in different contexts the abundance of synonyms is quite common in Arabic so I doubt English has more words than Arabic or even comes close Arabic is very rich in synonyms
The pig/pork, both are correct really. The reason why we have different names for the animal/meat in English is because of british history. The names of the animals comes from the Anglo Saxon speaking peasants who tended the livestock, while the name of the meats comes from the French-speaking noblemen who got to eat it. The reason we use the same word for Chicken is that is the one animal that commoners got to sometimes eat. So the reason "pig" is correct is that the question was "worldwide" and in non-English speaking countries, there is only 1 word.
