Extraordinarily explained. Although I have done masters in English literature with distinction yet I feel privileged having you my teacher. Thanks for the illustrative class.
There is something fucking crazy about this man !! He has a good backgroung in many fields and miscellaneous subjects. When he talked about "breakdown" as being used in science and mentioned infilation in economy for "breakeven". I wish he could join the British Councel here in Saudi Arabia, I would definitely attend every single class he teatches 😭😭😭. I , as you can tell, am self tought. I have been learning English on my own for almost 3 years. I will be so excited If you can reflect on the so-called construction grammar. It is the new approach of teatching foreign languages. Some really interesting principles (rules) in this grammar system are : end-weight principle, end-focus principle and economy principle. I have never commented on an english teatcher on TH-cam, you, however, impressed me. Ali - Saudi Arabia
this american English lessons are so clear and well expressed, congratulations Adam! carry on showing off your English language knowledge! as someone on this message board went, impossible not to learn from him!
Hello Adam! I am an English Teacher in Juarez Mexico. I love sharing your videos with my advanced students. I think you have a unique and clear way to explain the subjects. It would be great if you can make a video related to Transitive and Intransitive Verbs.
Adam you gave a good example about "break away" in basketball. I'll remember this phrasal verb like "Lebron breaks away from the rivals and slam dunks the ball".
your videos are absolutely fabulous...I belong to a nonengish speaking country...But suddenly have developed an interest in English recently because of you...Anyone can learn from you...thousand likes from my side...
I wanna add that there is also "break down" as in 1. explain/ divide complex task/object into smaller manageable chunks 2. process something (biologically, example: insulin break down sugar to turn them into bla bla bla)
Hello yes phrasal verbs are very difficult and you have a very nice way of going through them and you help to make sense of them. Thank you for these videos. You are probably right in suggesting to learn them just as you would learn new words however it may sound like a very dauting task and it would mean losing out on the wealth of treasure PREPOSITIONS and particles have in store! Some of them - agreed are most likely impossible to make sense of if not by just "learning" them by heart - however it may be also a nice idea to start digging into prepositions and grouping the meanings of the verbs around these prepositions: "around.." up and away.. can help to find a logic . around= without a specific goal.. fool around.. play around... walk around.. etc../ OUT - the idea of a solution.. figure out/find out/ work out etc.. and there are other "keys" that could allow groupings - it would start instilling a "feel" for the language.. And when - as a non-native- you start developing this intuitive feel, then you little by little pick up the meaning intuitively of new phrasal verbs (in context), you start making some up.. you really start enjoying the language - (adding this "up" which often doesn't make much sense to non natives..) and you start using prepositions in a very creative way elsewhere in your speech..not just in phrasal verbs - prepositions are a defining trait of English and a key to humour and to all the possibilities this language has to offer - which partly explains its dominance in the world I feel.. What do you think?
Believe me Adam, I love your teaching style and this is the only reason I subscribed your channel. I would be much happier if you make a video on perfect and advanced gerunds and infinitives. e.g. to be cleaning, to be cleaned, to have been cleaning, to have cleaned ...
I am from Nicaragua and my language is spanish and i like your way to teach, and i would like that you put subtitles in spanish, i will be grateful. Greetings friends.

tacolai 👨🏻🏫 Hello, Mr Teacher here in England 🏴. I have an answer to your question. There are several meanings for ‘breakthrough’ or break through.’ We use ‘breakthrough’ to mean achieving a positive result after a long struggle. It usually appears in medicine, science and technology. An example here is - ‘Researchers have made a breakthrough in finding a cure for heart disease.’ When there are two words ‘break through’ we mean to pierce a hole in an obstacle. An example here is - ‘Engineers have broken (Past perfect) through the last wall of earth blocking the new railway tunnel.’
