    It would be cool if these trees could grow in Phoenix.
    The desert would keep them in check.

      I saw on TH-cam that “Paulownia Oraby” grows on Egypt desert... I think that Paulownia will grow in Phoenix desert as well...

      It definitely can, paulownia Oraby and Elongata are pretty drought resistant... there are even several groves in the sonoran desert

      I have grown paulownia for over 30 years as an ornamental. When I purchased it (in a coffee can) at a farmers market, I had no idea what it was. Luckily it was labeled, I could find no information on it. Because of it’s tropical appearance, I thought it was a house plant. I actually grew it in a pot for a few years. I moved to a high desert in WA state. Arid hot summers & cold winters. Planted outside, it has thrived. I’ve studied it’s growth & always thought it could be used for for many sustainable green products. I’ve always called it my magic tree. It’s not invasive here. I may get 2 suckers from the mother annually if I’m lucky. I have a waiting list for these babies. I don’t know the variety but it is truly magic.
      I say give it a try in AZ. I love the flowers & have made concrete leaves from it. It flowers before it leafs. It waits until after the spring sun to provide shade from the hot sun. I’ve grown to love everything about it. Plus you’ll probably see it mature in your lifetime.

    Why aren't the paper and timber companies using these tree's if they mature so quickly? How many acre's does a person need to get these tree's planted on their property in Texas?

    • @edsonbohler3703
      @edsonbohler3703 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can space the trees every 13 feet (4 meters) from each other; 220 trees per acre.

    How many trees can you plant on an acre, and how many years can you harvest (gestation) the trees?

    • @azharmasood57
      @azharmasood57 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to my little knowledge 500 trees, Axctually in a grid system of 10'x12'. Rest u can calculate ur demand per acre.

    I'd like World Tree to contact me. I filled out an application online to farm paulownia trees on my property three days ago, but still no one has contacted me. I have a BS degree in Forestry and I was a wildland firefighter for 31 years. Leave a note for the best way to contact World Tree. Paulownia trees grow in my city and I have planted and cared for a few. Just waiting to talk to someone about it.

    I know this is an older video, but has there actually been any scientific proof that Paulownia gives any benefits in terms of climate and carbon collection?

    I think you should give way more profit to the farmers! This is a rip off.

    Paulownia Trees are highly invasive and are destroying native ecosystems from Maine to Florida and Texas, as well as the Pacific Northwest. However, open almost any gardening magazine and you’ll find adds touting this tree as an “amazing, fast-growing, shade tree.”
    It is this fast-growing nature that is causing so many problems for native ecosystems. Growing up to 15 feet in a single year, this invasive tree shades out and outcompetes native plant communities for resources such as water and nutrients.

      There are several types of Paulownia, look in to the differences. I believe only one is invasive, and that's not what they're proposing.

      The Tomentosa variety is the invasive one. I have two of the Kawakamii type in my yard and they are lovely trees without the invasive traits.

      That's odd. I've never seen one until what I thought was a cool looking weed sprouted in my old dried up pond. There's 3 of them.
      Very intriguing.

      Not that I trust anything the government tells me, but they used to call it invasive, but now it's not. Gotta love those experts that work for the government.
