These super stadiums are essentially the result of 'Robin Hood' school funding in Texas. Rich school districts must send 100% of any monies taxed over a certain threshold to poorer districts. Thus, no matter how much more tax they pay they cannot use those dollars for academics. The exception to this are 'bond election' monies. In other words, they can legally build physical stadiums with tax dollars but not buy better education for their kids. The net effect is that the local citizenry voted to invest their personal and additional monies into community infrastructure which were impossible to assign to academics, teachers or their pay.
Learning isn’t fun. Kids don’t want to work hard at anything that isn’t fun. Plus they know it all. If teachers could yell at kids like coaches do education is a whole other story.
I know $35 million is a lot of money in general, but how did Melissa ISD manage to get such a nice facility off that budget? Stadiums like this are running $60-$80 million at least. They got a great deal.
This $35 million investment will probably make a good ROI. If people showed the same 💰 for education like they do for 🏈, teachers would probably have a better pay.
FOOTBALL IS KING IN TEXAS! ....not learning or knowledge; perspective or empathy. Humans must have priorities. How about PAYING YOUR TEACHERS A DECENT SALARY?
Imagine if they announced a 35 million dollar stem learning center and committed to top quality instructors instead…which one would have the most benefit to students and taxpayers
Disgusting. Teachers are underpaid and the students education suffers so 50 kids in a sport can play. I’m close to that place in Texas so don’t say I’m overreacting
I wonder if we’ll ever see a day when this kind of spending will not make sense anymore.
Let's spend on stadiums that we don't need. Also heard prosper is gonna build ANOTHER stadium. yeah let's just keep the teacher pay the same tho.
The people of Prosper smartly voted down the $94 MILLION stadium proposal laid out to them as of Nov 2023! @@sandrinojohnsun9949
@@sandrinojohnsun9949teacher get paid enough. They get 3 months off of work as it is. Teachers are soft whiners
So they can drop 35 million on a stadium but not pay teachers better
Our taxes are so high in Texas, that I find this video embarrassing. Many spend $2000 a month just in property taxes.

As someone who goes to this school, I can confirm that teachers get payed really well.
Gotta love our Texas high school football…

What a colossal waste of money that benefits very few students
That's a nice stadium.
Good luck with it.
You can rent it out for concerts & other events too. Thats a learning experience too.
35 MILLION BUCKS !!!!
Say that slowly,,,,
This stadium puts my college stadium to shame a D1 FCS team.
Excellent use of ridiculously high property tax for the betterment of our public educational system

Thank the Texas-style school funding method for the school district to afford this stadium
All that money for school brats and not single penny on teachers
In Melissa they get payed $80000

To all the whiners here. This stadium like all others was voted on and passed by those in the ISD....not you!
Who probably knew very little on what they were voting for
Waste of money. Teachers underpaid, other needs not met but they find money for a football stadium. Ridiculous
Texas property taxes are unsustainable.
Down size now before too late. 😅

I used to spread a lot of women's legs in Melissa. I haven't been there in years.
