In Korra it's stated that airbenders can warm themselves with breathing techniques and Aang is a master so he would know them, i guess.
I really appreciate how positive you've been about this show. I have problems with it and disagree with you at times, but it's such a nice change of pace from the masses vomiting vitriol and hatred online. It's a good show and did what it needed to do
Agni is the Sanskrit word for “fire", and "water" would be "Jala". So a waterbenders duel would be called a "Jala Kai". Agni is also the Hindu God of fire, so another form would be to use the Hindu God of water, Varuna, so it could also be "Varuna Kai".

I wonder if they’re having Aang talk to all the Avatars he can by going to their shrines, if they’ll ever have Aang double back to the Southern Air Temple and talk to Yangchen. Maybe as looking for an Air Nomad’s direction to be the Avatar, as a pacifist and such, and/or how to reconcile his Air Nomad upbringing and values with what he has to do as the Avatar that contradicts them.
Kyoshi gave him a soldier’s perspective. Roku, a politician and negotiator. Kuruk talked about the spiritual side of things and the deep cost it can have. I think talking to Yangchen could be very interesting to see how Air Nomad Avatars conduct themselves.

Krull is the classy older sister to the sexy disaster sister, Flash Gordan.
Appa is a furry, truck-sized mammal; that kind of mass ought to generate plenty of body heat to keep its riders warm. Plus, its natural bending abilities seem to generate a 'windshield' effect, or some kind of 'bubble' around it to keep the air around it relatively calm, kind of like the warp bubble Star Trek ships create.

I cannot overstate how much I appreciate the choice they made to remove the plot of Pakku being GranGran's ex, and instead focusing on him begrudgingly acknowledging that Katara, because she has travelled and learned on her feet, has become a formidable challenge, forcing Pakku to adapt in ways he likely didn't have to do before, as he TRAINED all the other waterbenders around him. This way, it forced him to recognize that yes, water is the element of change, and the north has been stagnant, unchanging, and therefore not growing and learning and adapting - like Katara had to do by necessity and which allowed her to incorporate what she has seen and learned on her journey (like the ice disks) into her repertoire. At this point, while Pakku is still the more experienced fighter and bender, Katara represents the true nature of waterbending far more than anyone else there and I think it's great that Pakku's realisation of that came completely independent of any personal connections or plots.

I didn’t think about it that way, but you’re totally right. I jusy wish we got to see him actually train her than her declair herself her own master. Or at least that she trained with him before she did that.
I also really like the ice disks moment, because it's (subtly, but still) hitting on that theme (that's very present in the cartoon) of drawing strength and wisdom from different places. She learned that by watching an earthbender. Because she's been out in the world meeting and interacting with people who are different than her.
Pakku and the rest of the northern tribe (like a lot of groups in this world at this time) have been isolated among their own kind for a long time. They've forgotten that sometimes, people who think and act differently than you're used to are right. Or know things you don't. And being humble enough to accept that and learn from them can make you stronger.
if you want to know more about Kuruk's backstory (it's super interesting and very tragic), I really recommend reading the two Kyoshi novels that are out! The second book has a lot of focus on Kuruk, but a few of the main characters in the books are actually from his Team Avatar, which is pretty neat. Also, I just adore Kyoshi and her story and will take every chance to get people to read her books and her cute romance with a badass firebender.

Love the first season so much enjoying ya guys reaction also got plenty of time to make more scripts for the navatar for season 2 and 3
People complained that Azula and her friends were fat. Saw what they looked like outside of costume. Nah, they just all have round faces and bulky misshapen costumes. Especially Mai.
Yeah, I did feel like they were all more or less being swallowed up by the costumes. Also the voice cast for the original cartoon was pretty great but Grey Delisle as Azula just brought an S-tier amount of charisma and menace that it's just really hard for anyone in live action to go up against. So yeah, hopefully in the next two seasons we'll get to see Azula and crew develop more and come into their own.
The fans of this community can be really malicious. The actresses look fine. I just hope they are given a chance to truly shine in season 2, as they are the main antagonists of the season.

I feel like all the previous avatars that we have talked with, (and Bumi to boot) have visited their own failings as teachings to Aang. most notably Koruk that made Aang try keeping his friends at arms length.

I love the sister-brother mechanics shown in this adaptation just as much as the O.G. animated version. I can't wait for Kitara to wipe the floor with some bullies, and Sokka to whisper "water tribe" on the way out. x-D
As I'm watching Katara, Azula etc., being awesome, I'm feeling more excited on how they will portray Toph Beifong. They better not skip over her time as the "Blind Bandit". She made grown men cry after she kicked their butt. Besides, I really need her to call Aang "Twinkle Toes" in the live version. I'm not ready for the next episode.
I also really like all of these different avatars perspectives. We didn’t get that much of that in the animated show. Mostly just Roku.

Yeah I liked Yue a lot more here, recently rewatched the series and her back and forth of "Let's hang out - I CaN't dO tHiS sOkKa!!" was more annoying than I remembered it being. Almost came across as parody tbh

Also, Ya, Kyoshi has increasingly become known as the most proficiently weaponized version of the Avatar. To the point where she knew how to use water bending to freeze the blood in a living body, and did so in what was a very tragic comic issue. She didn’t learn full blood bendin though.

My one complaint with Sokka is his lack of riz. Though I do like his and Eway’s relationship more in this version. I also like that Han wasn’t a dick and that Eway had the choice to end the betrotheal.

I been seeing on Tik tok that the actresses for Katara and Azula are getting recasted. People need to chill. They did their best. I guarantee season 2 will do alot better with them but i never had a problem with the casting snd acting. I have seen worse *Cough* The room

it's a lot of jay playing with himself to skip. each time.
Everyone talks about Kiyoshi, but I want to see Yangchen. Oooh buddy that's a story I want because she was incredibly badazz. I'd put her up there with Kiyoshi they are the gettin' it done sisters and for an air bender and an air nomad, she did what she had to do to get stuff done. Aang could never, but he's Aang not Yamgchen so I have to give him some slack for that.
Also she has some compelling mental and spiritual stuff going on as well that's absolutely wild and I would love to see it translated on the screen.
I think it’s actually one of the more subtle touches of the show that Aang could totally have met Yangchen in the Southern air temple… except that’s the temple that got destroyed by the fire nation right at the beginning. They even introduce the statue of Yangchen, and we see it smashed on Aang’s return.
But that’s before we learn he has to commune with the other avatars at their shrines, so it’s left open whether we will see Yangchen when Aang eventually visits the Eastern air temple (to meet Guru Pathik) or the Western air temple (perhaps in the fight against combustion man?)
