Mitchell literally has only played with the most elite defensive frontcourts in the NBA. When he missed games for the jazz they didn't really grade out worse. When gobert missed games they were a bottom feeder team. The jazz had to shut Lauri down after the all star break to finish below .500. the didn't get better by adding Mitchell, they finished right around where they did before acquiring him which leads me to believe they got worse because their core was young and you'd expect improvements from them anyway. They would have been much better off just letting Lauri shoot the ball more, but they decided to add another selfish bad shot taker to compete with the one they already had (garland) all while ignoring the most talented player on the team (mobley). Lauri is dominant in a KD type of way which is a more valuable and harder to find type of star than Mitchell who the NBA has a lot of. A 7 foot 50/40/90 3 level scorer that can attack a closeout and defend on the perimeter. I'll take that all day over a selfish chucker who grades out as a liability on defense

The worst draft trade where both sides lost was the Butler LaVine trade. Jimmy spent a small amount of time in Minnesota. But, LaVine has many injury prones, Markkanen left and became better, and Kris Dunn is becoming a really good role player. But 2/3 of the players are not in Chicago.

Kobe was a kid that went straight outta college at that time and he was still pretty unknown and unproven. meanwhile vlade divac was an all-star, so the trade seemed like a massive W for the hornets (trading away a kid outta college that could be a bust for an experienced veteran).

Even though they both put up nice box score numbers the difference in impact is astronomical. It's very debatable as to whether Trae Young has a positive impact or not because he's such a massive liability on defense and not very efficient at scoring. Just has a massive usage rating
