I got a '78 XT-500 a few months back. After a bit of work, been slowly getting it running better. Yesterday it started on the first kick. This after having sat in the open, in the west Texas desert for 12+ years.
But I can about 82 I think it was, I bought A78TT 500 it just happened to have a street legal title. Now writing at night was a little bit more of a problem as the headlight was brighter the faster you went LOL.. Man what a great wheelie bike that was!!! I finally traded it for a 1974 pick up truck. Probably should have kept that too... I just had to get rid of it because I could not be riding a wheelie everywhere I went...
Thanks for sharing some great memories! I love to wheel too...check out this first ride video on my 2023 YZ450F (a modern day TT500!)... th-cam.com/video/cBqOx1zj7Xw/w-d-xo.html
@@mxengineer1 she wasn’t always 81 . She owned Performance Cycle until she retired in 96. Her TT had a down pipe and a nickel plated frame. Raced mostly at Lodi Cycle Bowl and Stockton 99 in the 70’s. I played the video to see if she could tell me what it was. She guessed it correctly.
Had a 1984 YZ490 was a beast! Always wanted a TT500!
The TT500 is much easier to ride than an '84 YZ490 - which as you said was a beast of a bike! Love the old Yamaha models!
I had two XTs and one TT. Best bikes I ever owned. Fun to ride, easy to work on, etc.
I rode a 1975 Yamaha TT500 when I was a kid. I loved the instant torque! What a fun bike! I don't miss kick starting these bike;)
They are very easy to kick start,I have a 76 tt500 and so does my brother and both are so easy to start.
