    Great guide mate, need to change mine.
    Do you know if they play a part in the cars dpf system. I.e if ones thrown a code, car won't regen the dpf?

      Hi there. Thank you very much!
      They can affect it as they create a fault code or glow plug light on wich needs to be off to do a dpf. All the time engine light of fault is in there the car will think somthing ain't right.
      So I would recommend replacing bud

    What do you do if you find you do have high carbon build up and cannot get the plug(s) out? Is it an engine out job?

    I was thinking of changing the glow plugs more as preventive maintenance as I don't have any fault codes but I'm really scared of the tip falling down. Is there anyway I can check if they are working when intended for example when starting the engine or when the dpf is regenerating ?

    • @AlexTheGrumpyOne
      @AlexTheGrumpyOne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it can happen. Usually depending on how the car has been used. If its a car that idle a lot of never goes on motorway then there is a higher chance of build up of carbon. Also depends if the correct oil has been used.
      First and easiest way of checking is by using diagnostic tool and doing a full scan on the system.
      Then you got a manual check by continuity test on each glow plug.
      Or obviously the bad starting in the morning or on a cold day.

    Again a great video. Mate got a question. As diesel we have to take our cars on highway just to clean the engine once a month or so. Can we drive on cruise control or do we need to drive without also how long or any time frame plz.

      Thank you very much bud!
      Yes I definitely recommend doing it. 👌
      I wouldn't use cruise control. I would put it in probably 4th gear or maybe 5th depending on the speed you doing. Recommend to be doing around 3k RPM for around 25-30 min.
      I usually use a dpf cleaner treatment in the fuel tank as well

    Alex, is it worth replacing after to a remap to help keep the engine good?

    • @AlexTheGrumpyOne
      @AlexTheGrumpyOne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My personal opinion is if there is no Fault codes and engine starts fine then I wouldn't risk it for now bud. As it can end up being a nightmare...

    18Nm is nothing ive had tighter jam jar lids …. Don’t overdo it, you might wanna use a torque wrench to remove them as well, the shear torque is around 35-40 Nm, don’t go at it like a bull at a gate, if it starts to shriek as it’s coming out screw it back in a bit then try again just like you’re rethreading it, if it gets really tight spray more release agent on it leave it for a while then come back to it, patience is key, if you have one of the plugs with a built in pressure sensor it’s a 12mm socket for removal and the cap is a ba**tard to get off, you’ll need special long pliers that will compress the two securing clips at the end of it before it will come off ( don’t break the cap) !!

    18NM when you tourq the plugs up, do not tighten to 80NM like I did and snapped the plug
