  • Third episode of my new series of editing tutorials on using Affinity Photo for iPad on birds and wildlife photos. New episodes every week. Each episode will cover a new function/tool of Affinity Photo on the iPad.
This time I explain how use dodge and burn effects on your image in a non-destructive way.

Blew my mind 😅 really informative, and an easy way to understand overlay and dodging and burning. Can’t wait to see when you explain about the other blending modes. 👍🏽

Thanks. I’m glad you liked it. Blend modes and blend ranges are extremely powerful once you know how they work. I will introduce them along the way 😊

Great method! I have never heard of the gray layer trick.

I just now learned about the overlay mode I've been haphazardly using for years. such a great technique you revealed.

Very enjoyable and informative, could you cover in a future video, how to create a catch light in the birds eye. Thanks

Thank you very much. I’m glad you liked it. I usually don’t create a catch light if there’s none there. I can maybe cover it in a future video anyway 😉

Voice only coming through on one speaker made me think my headset was broken LOL

Lol sorry about that. I’m not sure what went wrong with the sound in that video. Episode 4 should be fine 😊

Hello! Great video!!!! Quick question, after applying some edits in Lightroom, how do you export the file to Affinity Photo? Do you click in "Open in" or do you export it with some options?

Thanks a lot! I use “open in…” and choose Affinity Photo

What I don’t get is, that you now have a much more gray picture all in all. How do I get rid of the grey, that is in my dodge and burn layer after?

Remember to set the blend mode on the dodge/burn layer

Really good! But I had a hard time to listen to you because of the background music!

Thank you Steven! I didn’t really know what I was doing in some of these earlier videos so you will probably find a few where the audio could have been better. Hopefully you will find the audio improving over time 😊
