I've had the privilege of watching and shooting Tricot twice. If you get the chance to watch them play, and math rock (or just rock in general) is your thing, do it. You won't regret it. They're among the best bands to watch live. The girls bring an incredible energy to each show, with a high level of musicianship to match. As a photographer who specializes in shooting rock gigs, I can honestly say Tricot is also one of the hardest bands I've ever shot, but it's because shooting them pushes my skills to their limits, and I wouldn't want it any differently. You know Motoko Kida is one hell of a guitarist when some of the best guitarists in my scene come to watch her perform.
its been years since I know math rock and tricot keeps being one of my most loved mathrock artists/bands. Not only that but there were moments that seemed like they kept improving (both live performances+ directivity in music and creativity) to a new high. IMO they deserve way more recognition and fame!!!!
Man that little speech at the end was the cutest shit ever. And she learned English just for the tour! Impressive dedication, I'd expect no less from one of Japan's finest bleeding edge rock bands. Keep it rolling tricot!
Yeah, same for me. I am relatively new to them and only noticed they performed very close to me during this tour after the tour was over. I would have gone for sure if I had known.
@@drcrabblesnitch5917 I believe the one close to me, in Brussels, was a very small venue as well when I looked it up. It might have been sold out because of that as well, which would make me feel a bit better. But what can you do. I am glad you enjoyed yourself. Every live set I have watched by them looked amazing, so I can imagine it was really good. I just received my copy of their KABUKU TOUR 2016 FINAL dvd today. Curious to see what the difference with what they are now since I don't have a lot of experience with their earlier stuff yet since it's difficult to find.
my cursed luck found out about the amsterdam date the MORNING after the show... and I had seen they were touring europe but no amsterdam date when I first checked :(
I went to the second show in Manchester - again full of humour - "we want your money" - along with weird time changes and fabulous energy; they had a fierce connection with the audience. The video here is about half a gig's worth. I entertained myself with tricot's daft twitter videos over the tour, especially the post-Manchester one, where the band had hit the city and gotten plastered, with ikkyu falling over.
Damn, all those choosing beggars in the comments lmao. Be grateful that they have put up this 27 minutes of uncut footage for free here. Most bands would just release a 3 min cut-up trailer as a DVD/BD promo.
I damn hate those. It's not even a whole song of about 3-4 minutes. It's like 10-30 seconds of each song to make a whole 3 minute trailer, wtf. tricot also posts complete live on this channel.
But this wasn't recorded well enough for a DVD... just the fat guy at the front and someone by the mixing desk (the sound isn't even SBD). This is made for documentation, rather than for a release.
*another US tour. It will happen someday. I wish international ambition was a bigger thing in Japanese music. I have zero hope of ever seeing Gesu no Kiwami Otome or Polkadot Stingray, for example, even though those bands have a strong worldwide fan base. It's okay though, I met Tricot on the street before their gig, so I can totally die happy. If I was less lazy, I would try to pitch a huge Japanese or world music festival here in the US to investors. There are a lot of otaku dollars to collect, and the fans are so dedicated, they'll probably travel half the country to fork them over. Pooling a lot of their bands together for one event would eliminate a lot of the risk of conducting a whole tour where your fans are too spread out to really headline throughout the whole country. It would work, I think! How far would you travel?
I drove from DC to see them in Baltimore. Before the show they were just walking around the city like they weren't rock stars. It was amazing. They will be back someday. Hopefully they'll bring Genie Hi, and Enon will bring Gesu. I make a regular blood sacrifice to the rock and roll gods to this effect :)
Now that I've seen it, they for sure didn't include them playing 混ぜるな危険 as the starter and then 悪戯, Aquarium, Dogs and ducks, POOL, 爆裂パニエさん and Potage... That's what I can remember from the show in Budapest, which probably had the same set I'd imagine...

That drummer is no joke. Holy shit. Hes so good
He plays with Yama as well in live performances.

I absolutely cannot wait for a US tour.
Same! Saw them a few years back when they toured with CHON. Short set, but one of the best concerts I've been to - and I've seen a lot of concerts!
Have they announced anything regarding a US tour??
Me too, bro!!
@@user-gh7hl5fv6h did you hear anything? I discovered them like 2 years ago but I wasn’t sure when they were coming back
@@davidhand9721haha, they were SO GOOD as openers at chon! the energy was amazing!
I DJ'd at this show - they were amazing!
Wow!!! Tremendous.
Still waiting for tricot coming to Indonesia, since the first time found and listen to their music on 2014
Me too

After this video i think i experienced every stage of regret, that i didin't see them live this year :(
Yeah, same for me. I am relatively new to them and only noticed they performed very close to me during this tour after the tour was over.

they where so fucking good. i got to see them in a smaller club like venue so i was right at the front it was amazing

Guys, please tell Hiromi that she is way too cute. Thanks.

Was the set only 30 mins long ?
Noooo, they played more songs.
I think it was a bit longer than an hour
They should post ALL of it. I am in America and so far tricot has not posted dates here yet. I'm shattered. This is the next best thing.
