I have actually been following the steps that you mentioned in your video about things to consider when deciding on the journal. One of the things that I could not grasp was whether the journal is monthly, bimonthly or quarterly. Would you kindly elaborate on how that affects negatively or positively on our choice of a journal?
Thanks for the comment. Part of the issue with the frequency is the greater volume of content that is published by them. Imagine if a journal published one issue a year and one article in that issue; but another journal published twelve issues and 25 articles per issue. You have greater opportunity with the second journal (but also greater competition). Does this makes sense?
Many thanks for your reply. It does make sense now. I have passed my Ph. D qualifying exam in ELT and I am a bit puzzled about which journal to choose. It must be one in SSCI, as a requirement for graduation. Today, I was checking the impact factor of some journals and was tempted between a journal with a high impact factor, competitive publication environment, and a greater speed of publish i.e. PLOS ONE, and a journal with a considerable low impact factor and and ease of publication, within the SSCI. I feel much indecisive regarding this issue, bearing in mind that for me, publishing is a matter of the sooner, the better. I would be so much grateful to you if you provide me with any enlightening information about the aforementioned issue.
There are so many variables, it is difficult for me to say. Having it be a requirement for graduation is a new one for me. Two points: what does your adviser suggest? Also, why not email each journal's editor and give a very very brief outline of the paper's contents and your background and see if they give you any feedback one way or another. Either way, best wishes.
Open access and subscription journals each have their value. I would look at each for their mission statement or what they publish and decide on a case by case basis.

Not at all. What is important is that your paper is a good fit for their mission. That is most important. Having said that, if you have multiple papers to publish and many journals will consider them then it is good to have diversity. Good luck.
Dear Professor Bond, I'm a PhD Candidate in Architecture, at China, beginning on the craft of journal publication. I'm requested to publish in any of these index EI SCI CSSCI CSCD. However, when I check online if a journal is indexed there, sometimes I find the list, but when I enter to the journal websites, those indexes are not indicated. How can I be sure a journal is indexed in the ones I need? Many thanks.!
Thank you for your question. If a journal is listed as being indexed in that database, then it is there. No worries about if it is not listed at the journal site. That is voluntary; they do not have to list such things at their own site and in fact many don't. If in doubt, email the index and ask them. Best wishes.
Good day. I suggest you consider the journals you read in your area, or the ones you cite the most in your work. Or speak with your colleagues as to which ones they suggest. Best wishes.
Qaisar Ali, thank you for the comment. To clarify, are you asking about 1-someone to check for grammar/spelling/style, or 2-the content of the paper? Let me know. Best wishes.
Qaisar Ali, I can provide companies that help with editing and proofreading for a paper for a fee. Do you want such contacts? For the second one, I cannot provide anyone in connection to content. Let me know.
Thanks for the comment. Sorry for my delay in responding. To confirm a journal is indexed in MedLine or PubMed, go to www.nlm.nih.gov/services/medline_titles.html Good luck.
TheChallenger333 absolutely not - pub Med is not the same as Medline. Plenty of predatory journals get into pub Med at the article level due to funders requiring the article be submitted to PMC
Thank you for the information. Just a quick feedback: I don't know is it just me, or it's the video, I cannot focus for more than 20 seconds on what you are saying. Maybe it's because you are reading from a text in a monotone voice. And also the background is tooo busy and distracting.
Some reviewers are just terrible. They’re very insecure. They reject your journal without refuting the contents of your article. They make lustreless and lazy comments.
John Bond my article was recently rejected and the reviewer never refuted anything in my article. It’s my first time submitting a manuscript as a PhD candidate. But, I’ll search for another journal. Your video has encouraged me.
Thank you so much for being informative and straightforward 🌺

Thanks a lot, it was so useful.
Do you think it is a problem to consistently submit to the same journal or is it better to have more variety?

How do I know if the journal is pubmed indexed ? If the journal has publications in pubmed , does it mean it is indexed in pubmed ?

Will do. Also, the Subtitles. Thanks.

What question can I answer for you about publishing?
