    We hiked the Earnslaw Burn Track late January 2021. I would definitely recommend camping overnight in the valley and taking some time to explore and experience such a beautiful location.
    Track Description from The Department of Conservation:
    Following the Earnslaw Burn through bush to the tussock basin at the head of this valley, will bring you to a viewpoint with impressive views of an icefall on Mt Earnslaw/Pikirakatahi. An overhanging rock just within the forest on the true right (looking downstream) of Earnslaw Burn can be used for shelter.
    River crossing and route finding experience is essential. There is also windfall and slips along the track that you need to get over.
    DOC advises that this is an advanced track and is 4-6 hours one way.

    Awesome mate. What video editing software do you use, and how did you get the Google Earth map to show your trip. Great job!! I would love to visit here 👍

      Thanks Luke. I use Final Cut Pro to edit and Google Earth Studio to do the map animation.

    Great video mate, do you reckon you could do it in the winter or would there be too much snow/in avalanche paths? Cheers

    • @oakleybloke
      @oakleybloke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could definitely do it in good winter conditions as it’s a low altitude hike. Always check with DOC tho just in case

    Do we need a 4x4 truck from Glenorchy to the bottom of the Earnslaw Track? Or car park? Is the road alright?

    • @oakleybloke
      @oakleybloke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, no the road is fine. It is unsealed for a few kilometres but you don’t need 4x4

    How long did this take you there and back? 8 hours?

    • @oakleybloke
      @oakleybloke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It took us 7.5 hours on the way in because of the filming and 5.5 hours on the way out.
