  • Too many little PITA things happened this last couple of weeks in the woods. Had to put the winch back on.
The type of operations possible with the remote control of the winch is on display here. And it's like a pickup truck, once up have one it's hard to imagine life without.
SO many operations and problems that the remote make both more safe and often even possible. One on display here

Two things, first, your "store" should be a destination for folks who are interested in both new equipment AND history. Second, this 65H has to be the best investment I have ever made for harvesting my wood lot. :)

You’re going to have a good time straightening up that hay field when spring comes.

@@afleetcommand Walt, don’t count on the snow being gone but if it falls it won’t last long.

Nope... I ran the 372 until I toasted the bar then the 572 HTSS and it both sounds AND runs crisp :)

@afleetcommand Oh ya, I remember now. The 585 hasn't got a full wrap. ALL your saws sound crisp. 👍

Beech used to be a big use timber in the furniture industry in England, even as carcasses for soft furniture, and for cheap rifle stocks in Europe. I don’t know if American Beech has the same characteristics. Come to think of it ,for sure the bark is not the same, you can see that smooth grey trunk a mile off !

Beach is a solid dense wood here as well. For some reason it just doesn't sell. I do remember 20 yeas ago one of the log buyers did take it but I honestly can't tell you why the market dropped to the point all my buyers call it a weed tree.

I have never felt beech was a junk wood. It is a good wood to make wooden bowls out of, because it doesn’t check that bad, like oak or hickory. During WW2 the Brits used any and everything for stocks for their .303 Enfields. .30 US, M1 were mostly walnut, at least those that I have owned or used, same for the M-14. Now, we have plastic for everything - sigh.
